Ulangan 2
1 "Kemudian kita balik dan berangkat ke padang gurun, ke arah Laut Teberau, seperti yang difirmankan TUHAN kepadaku. Lama kita berjalan keliling pegunungan Seir.
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord had spoken unto me: and we traveled around mount Seir many days.
2 Lalu berfirmanlah TUHAN kepadaku, demikian:
And the Lord said unto me, as followeth,
3 Telah cukup lamanya kamu berjalan keliling pegunungan ini, beloklah sekarang ke utara.
Ye have traveled long enough around this mountain; turn yourselves northward.
4 Perintahkanlah kepada bangsa itu, demikian: Sebentar lagi kamu akan berjalan melalui daerah saudara-saudaramu, bani Esau, yang diam di Seir; mereka akan takut kepadamu. Tetapi hati-hatilah sekali;
And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing by the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; therefore take ye good heed unto yourselves;
5 janganlah menyerang mereka, sebab Aku tidak akan memberikan kepadamu setapak kaki dari negeri mereka, karena kepada Esau telah Kuberikan pegunungan Seir menjadi miliknya.
Do not contend with them; for I will not give unto you of their land, even so much as a foot's breadth; because unto Esau have I given mount Seir for an inheritance.
6 Makanan haruslah kamu beli dari mereka dengan uang, supaya kamu dapat makan; juga air haruslah kamu beli dari mereka dengan uang, supaya kamu dapat minum.
Food shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may eat; and water also shall ye buy of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 Sebab TUHAN, Allahmu, memberkati engkau dalam segala pekerjaan tanganmu. Ia memperhatikan perjalananmu melalui padang gurun yang besar ini; keempat puluh tahun ini TUHAN, Allahmu, menyertai engkau, dan engkau tidak kekurangan apapun.
For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he hath provided for thy wandering through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Kemudian kita berjalan terus, meninggalkan daerah saudara-saudara kita, bani Esau yang diam di Seir, meninggalkan jalan dari Araba-Yordan, yakni dari Elat dan Ezion-Geber. Sesudah itu kita belok dan berjalan terus ke arah padang gurun Moab.
And we passed away from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way through the plain, from Elath, and from 'Ezyon-gaber. And we turned and passed the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 Lalu berfirmanlah TUHAN kepadaku: Janganlah melawan Moab dan janganlah menyerang mereka, sebab Aku tidak akan memberikan kepadamu apapun dari negerinya menjadi milikmu, karena Ar telah Kuberikan kepada bani Lot menjadi miliknya.
And the Lord said unto me, Do not attack the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee from their land any inheritance, because unto the children of Lot have I given 'Ar for an inheritance.
10 Dahulu orang Emim diam di sana, suatu bangsa yang besar dan banyak jumlahnya, tinggi seperti orang Enak.
The Emim in times past dwelt therein, a people great, and numerous, and tall as the 'Anakim;
11 Mereka itupun dikira orang Refaim, seperti juga orang Enak, tetapi orang Moab menyebut mereka orang Emim.
As Rephaim were also they accounted, equally with the 'Anakim; and the Moabites called the[[m]] Emim.
12 Dan dahulu di Seir diam orang Hori, tetapi bani Esau telah menduduki daerah mereka, memunahkan mereka dari hadapannya, lalu menetap di sana menggantikan mereka, seperti yang dilakukan orang Israel dengan negeri miliknya yang diberikan TUHAN kepada mereka.
And in Seir dwelt the Chorim in times past; but the children of Esau drove them out, and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel hath done unto the land of his inheritance, which the Lord hath given unto them.
13 Jadi sekarang bersiaplah kamu dan seberangilah sungai Zered. Lalu kita menyeberangi sungai Zered.
Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered; and we passed over the brook Zered.
14 Lamanya kita berjalan sejak dari Kadesh-Barnea sampai kita ada di seberang sungai Zered, ada tiga puluh delapan tahun, sampai seluruh angkatan itu, yakni prajurit, habis binasa dari perkemahan, seperti yang dijanjikan TUHAN dengan sumpah kepada mereka;
And the time which we came from Kadesh-barnea', until we had passed over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were spent from out the midst of the camp, as the Lord had sworn unto them.
15 dan tangan TUHAN juga melawan mereka untuk menghamburkan mereka dari perkemahan, sampai mereka habis binasa.
And also the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp; until they were spent.
16 Maka ketika dari bangsa itu telah habis binasa semua prajurit,
So it came to pass, when all the men of war were spent by, dying from the midst of the people,
17 berfirmanlah TUHAN kepadaku:
That the Lord spoke unto me, saying,
18 Pada hari ini engkau akan berjalan melintasi perbatasan Moab, yakni Ar,
Thou art passing this day by the border of Moab, by 'Ar,
19 maka engkau sampai ke dekat bani Amon. Janganlah melawan mereka dan janganlah menyerang mereka, sebab Aku tidak akan memberikan kepadamu apapun dari negeri bani Amon itu menjadi milikmu, karena Aku telah memberikannya kepada bani Lot menjadi miliknya.
And thou comest nigh opposite the children of 'Ammon: do not attack them, nor contend with them; for I will not give unto thee of the land of the children of 'Ammon any inheritance; because unto the children of Lot have I given it for an inheritance.
20 --Negeri inipun dikira orang negeri orang Refaim. Dahulu orang Refaim diam di sana, tetapi orang Amon menyebut mereka orang Zamzumim,
As the land of Rephaim was it also accounted: Rephaim dwelt therein in times past; and the 'Ammonites called them Zamzummim;
21 suatu bangsa yang besar dan banyak jumlahnya, tinggi seperti orang Enak, tetapi TUHAN telah memunahkan mereka dari hadapan bani Amon, sehingga orang-orang ini menduduki daerah mereka dan menetap di sana menggantikan mereka;
A people great, and numerous, and tall, as the 'Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they drove them out, and dwelt in their stead:
22 seperti yang dilakukan TUHAN bagi bani Esau yang diam di Seir, ketika Ia memunahkan orang Hori dari hadapan mereka, sehingga mereka menduduki daerah orang Hori itu dan menetap di sana menggantikan orang-orang itu sampai sekarang.
As he hath done to the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Chorim; and they drove them out and dwelt in their stead, even unto this day.
23 Juga orang Awi yang diam di kampung-kampung sampai Gaza, dipunahkan oleh orang Kaftor yang berasal dari Kaftor, lalu orang Kaftor itu menetap di sana menggantikan mereka. --
And the 'Avvim, who dwelt in open towns, as far as unto Gazzah, —the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.
24 Bersiaplah kamu, berangkatlah dan seberangilah sungai Arnon. Ketahuilah, Aku menyerahkan Sihon, raja Hesybon, orang Amori itu, beserta negerinya ke dalam tanganmu; mulailah menduduki negerinya dan seranglah Sihon.
Rise ye up, set forward, and pass over the brook Arnon; behold I have given into thy hand Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Emorite, and his land: begin to drive him out, and contend with him in battle.
25 Pada hari ini Aku mulai mendatangkan ke atas bangsa-bangsa di seluruh kolong langit keseganan dan ketakutan terhadap kamu, sehingga mereka menggigil dan gemetar karena engkau, apabila mereka mendengar tentang kamu."
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven; whoever will hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and shall quake because of thee.
26 "Kemudian aku menyuruh utusan dari padang gurun Kedemot kepada Sihon, raja Hesybon, menyampaikan pesan perdamaian, bunyinya:
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, with words of peace, saying,
27 Izinkanlah aku berjalan melalui negerimu. Aku akan tetap berjalan mengikuti jalan raya, dengan tidak menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri.
Let me pass through thy land: always by the highway will I go along; I will not turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
28 Juallah makanan kepadaku dengan bayaran uang, supaya aku dapat makan, dan berikanlah air kepadaku ganti uang, supaya aku dapat minum; hanya izinkanlah aku lewat dengan berjalan kaki--
Food shalt thou sell me for money, that I may eat; and water for money shalt thou give me, that I may drink: only let me pass through on foot;
29 seperti yang diperbuat kepadaku oleh bani Esau yang diam di Seir dan oleh orang Moab yang diam di Ar--sampai aku menyeberangi sungai Yordan pergi ke negeri yang diberikan kepada kami oleh TUHAN, Allah kami.
(As the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in 'Ar, have done unto me: ) until that I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
30 Tetapi Sihon, raja Hesybon, tidak mau memberi kita berjalan melalui daerahnya, sebab TUHAN, Allahmu, membuat dia keras kepala dan tegar hati, dengan maksud menyerahkan dia ke dalam tanganmu, seperti yang terjadi sekarang ini.
But Sichon, the king of Cheshbon, would not suffer our passing by him; for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and had made obstinate his heart, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as [hath happened] this day.
31 Lalu TUHAN berfirman kepadaku: Ketahuilah, Aku mulai menyerahkan Sihon dan negerinya kepadamu. Mulailah menduduki negerinya supaya menjadi milikmu.
And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give up Sichon and his land before thee: begin to drive him out, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Kemudian Sihon dan seluruh tentaranya maju mendatangi kita, untuk berperang dekat Yahas,
And Sichon came out against us, he and all his people, to the battle at Yahaz.
33 tetapi TUHAN, Allah kita, menyerahkan dia kepada kita, sehingga kita mengalahkan dia dengan anak-anaknya dan seluruh tentaranya.
And the Lord our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 Pada waktu itu kita merebut segala kotanya dan menumpas penduduk setiap kota: laki-laki dan perempuan serta anak-anak. Tidak ada seorangpun yang kita biarkan terluput;
And we conquered all his cities at that time, and devoted every inhabited city, and the women, and the little ones; we left none that escaped.
35 hanya hewan kita rampas bagi kita sendiri, seperti juga jarahan dari kota-kota yang telah kita rebut.
Only the cattle we took as booty unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.
36 Mulai dari Aroer, di tepi sungai Arnon, dan kota di lembah itu, sampai Gilead tidak ada kota yang bentengnya terlalu kuat bagi kita; sebab TUHAN, Allah kita, menyerahkan semuanya kepada kita.
From 'Aro'er, which is by the bank of the brook of Arnon, and the city that is in the brook, even unto Gil'ad, there was not one city which was too strong for us; the whole did the Lord our God give up before us.
37 Hanya negeri bani Amon tidak engkau dekati, baik sungai Yabok sepanjang tepinya maupun kota-kota di pegunungan, tepat seperti yang dilarang TUHAN, Allah kita."
Only unto the land of the children of 'Ammon didst thou not come nigh, unto the whole margin of the brook Yabbok, and the cities in the mountain, and unto whatsoever the Lord our God had forbidden us.
