1 Raja-raja 19
1 Ketika Ahab memberitahukan kepada Izebel segala yang dilakukan Elia dan perihal Elia membunuh semua nabi itu dengan pedang,
And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 maka Izebel menyuruh seorang suruhan mengatakan kepada Elia: "Beginilah kiranya para allah menghukum aku, bahkan lebih lagi dari pada itu, jika besok kira-kira pada waktu ini aku tidak membuat nyawamu sama seperti nyawa salah seorang dari mereka itu."
Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do [to me], and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
3 Maka takutlah ia, lalu bangkit dan pergi menyelamatkan nyawanya; dan setelah sampai ke Bersyeba, yang termasuk wilayah Yehuda, ia meninggalkan bujangnya di sana.
And when he saw [that], he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which [belongeth] to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 Tetapi ia sendiri masuk ke padang gurun sehari perjalanan jauhnya, lalu duduk di bawah sebuah pohon arar. Kemudian ia ingin mati, katanya: "Cukuplah itu! Sekarang, ya TUHAN, ambillah nyawaku, sebab aku ini tidak lebih baik dari pada nenek moyangku."
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I [am] not better than my fathers.
5 Sesudah itu ia berbaring dan tidur di bawah pohon arar itu. Tetapi tiba-tiba seorang malaikat menyentuh dia serta berkata kepadanya: "Bangunlah, makanlah!"
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise [and] eat.
6 Ketika ia melihat sekitarnya, maka pada sebelah kepalanya ada roti bakar, dan sebuah kendi berisi air. Lalu ia makan dan minum, kemudian berbaring pula.
And he looked, and, behold, [there was] a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 Tetapi malaikat TUHAN datang untuk kedua kalinya dan menyentuh dia serta berkata: "Bangunlah, makanlah! Sebab kalau tidak, perjalananmu nanti terlalu jauh bagimu."
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise [and] eat; because the journey [is] too great for thee.
8 Maka bangunlah ia, lalu makan dan minum, dan oleh kekuatan makanan itu ia berjalan empat puluh hari empat puluh malam lamanya sampai ke gunung Allah, yakni gunung Horeb.
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
9 Di sana masuklah ia ke dalam sebuah gua dan bermalam di situ. Maka firman TUHAN datang kepadanya, demikian: "Apakah kerjamu di sini, hai Elia?"
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD [came] to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 Jawabnya: "Aku bekerja segiat-giatnya bagi TUHAN, Allah semesta alam, karena orang Israel meninggalkan perjanjian-Mu, meruntuhkan mezbah-mezbah-Mu dan membunuh nabi-nabi-Mu dengan pedang; hanya aku seorang dirilah yang masih hidup dan mereka ingin mencabut nyawaku."
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, [even] I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 Lalu firman-Nya: "Keluarlah dan berdiri di atas gunung itu di hadapan TUHAN!" Maka TUHAN lalu! Angin besar dan kuat, yang membelah gunung-gunung dan memecahkan bukit-bukit batu, mendahului TUHAN. Tetapi tidak ada TUHAN dalam angin itu. Dan sesudah angin itu datanglah gempa. Tetapi tidak ada TUHAN dalam gempa itu.
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake:
12 Dan sesudah gempa itu datanglah api. Tetapi tidak ada TUHAN dalam api itu. Dan sesudah api itu datanglah bunyi angin sepoi-sepoi basa.
And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13 Segera sesudah Elia mendengarnya, ia menyelubungi mukanya dengan jubahnya, lalu pergi ke luar dan berdiri di pintu gua itu. Maka datanglah suara kepadanya yang berbunyi: "Apakah kerjamu di sini, hai Elia?"
And it was [so], when Elijah heard [it], that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
14 Jawabnya: "Aku bekerja segiat-giatnya bagi TUHAN, Allah semesta alam, karena orang Israel meninggalkan perjanjian-Mu, meruntuhkan mezbah-mezbah-Mu dan membunuh nabi-nabi-Mu dengan pedang; hanya aku seorang dirilah yang masih hidup, dan mereka ingin mencabut nyawaku."
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, [even] I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
15 Firman TUHAN kepadanya: "Pergilah, kembalilah ke jalanmu, melalui padang gurun ke Damsyik, dan setelah engkau sampai, engkau harus mengurapi Hazael menjadi raja atas Aram.
And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael [to be] king over Syria:
16 Juga Yehu, cucu Nimsi, haruslah kauurapi menjadi raja atas Israel, dan Elisa bin Safat, dari Abel-Mehola, harus kauurapi menjadi nabi menggantikan engkau.
And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint [to be] king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint [to be] prophet in thy room.
17 Maka siapa yang terluput dari pedang Hazael akan dibunuh oleh Yehu; dan siapa yang terluput dari pedang Yehu akan dibunuh oleh Elisa.
And it shall come to pass, [that] him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
18 Tetapi Aku akan meninggalkan tujuh ribu orang di Israel, yakni semua orang yang tidak sujud menyembah Baal dan yang mulutnya tidak mencium dia."
Yet I have left [me] seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
19 Setelah Elia pergi dari sana, ia bertemu dengan Elisa bin Safat yang sedang membajak dengan dua belas pasang lembu, sedang ia sendiri mengemudikan yang kedua belas. Ketika Elia lalu dari dekatnya, ia melemparkan jubahnya kepadanya.
So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who [was] plowing [with] twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
20 Lalu Elisa meninggalkan lembu itu dan berlari mengikuti Elia, katanya: "Biarkanlah aku mencium ayahku dan ibuku dahulu, lalu aku akan mengikuti engkau." Jawabnya kepadanya: "Baiklah, pulang dahulu, dan ingatlah apa yang telah kuperbuat kepadamu."
And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and [then] I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
21 Lalu berbaliklah ia dari pada Elia, ia mengambil pasangan lembu itu, menyembelihnya dan memasak dagingnya dengan bajak lembu itu sebagai kayu api; ia memberikan daging itu kepada orang-orangnya, kemudian makanlah mereka. Sesudah itu bersiaplah ia, lalu mengikuti Elia dan menjadi pelayannya.
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
