Mazmur 56

1 Untuk pemimpin kor. Menurut lagu: Merpati yang membisu, dari daerah yang jauh. Mazmur Daud ketika orang Filistin menangkap dia di Gat. Kasihanilah aku, ya Allah, sebab aku diserang, terus-menerus aku ditindas musuh-musuhku.

For the music director. According to “Dove on Distant Oaks.” A psalm (miktam) of David concerning the time the Philistines captured him in Gath. God, please be gracious to me, for people are persecuting me; my attackers fight against me all day long.

2 Sepanjang hari aku diinjak-injak lawanku; banyaklah yang memusuhi aku, ya Allah Yang Mahatinggi.

My enemies chase me down all the time—there are many of them, attacking me in their arrogance.

3 Waktu aku takut, aku berharap kepada-Mu.

But when I'm afraid, I trust in you.

4 Aku memuji Allah karena apa yang Ia janjikan; aku percaya kepada-Nya, maka aku tak takut, manusia tidak berdaya terhadapku.

I thank God for his promises. I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?

5 Sepanjang hari musuh mengacaukan perkaraku, terus-menerus mereka berusaha mencelakakan aku.

They constantly twist my words against me; they spend all their time thinking of evil things to do to me.

6 Mereka bergerombol di tempat tersembunyi, mengamat-amati segala yang kulakukan, dan mencari kesempatan untuk membunuh aku.

They gather together in their hiding places to keep watch on me, hoping to kill me.

7 Adakah keselamatan bagi kejahatan mereka? Binasakanlah mereka dalam kemarahan-Mu, ya Allah!

Will they escape when they do so much evil? God, in anger bring these people down!

8 Engkau menghitung hari-hari pengembaraanku, dan tahu jumlah air mataku; tidakkah Engkau memperhitungkannya?

You've kept track of all my wanderings. You've collected all my tears in your bottle. You've kept a record of each one.

9 Pada hari aku berseru kepada-Mu, musuh akan dipukul mundur, sebab aku tahu Allah memihak aku.

Then those who hate me will run away when I call for your help. For I know this: God is for me!

10 Aku memuji TUHAN Allah, karena apa yang Ia janjikan.

I thank God for his promises. I thank the Lord for his promises.

11 Aku percaya kepada-Nya, maka aku tak takut, manusia tidak berdaya terhadapku.

I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?

12 Aku akan menepati janjiku kepada-Mu, ya Allah, dan mempersembahkan kurban syukur kepada-Mu.

God, I will keep my promises to you. I will give thank offerings to you,

13 Sebab Engkau meluputkan aku dari maut, Kaujaga aku supaya tidak jatuh. Maka aku boleh hidup dalam perlindungan Allah, dalam cahaya yang menerangi semua yang hidup.

for you have saved me from death and kept me from falling. Now I walk in the presence of God, in the light that gives life.
