Bilangan 11
1 Pada suatu hari bangsa itu mulai mengeluh kepada TUHAN tentang kesukaran-kesukaran mereka. Mendengar keluhan-keluhan itu, TUHAN menjadi marah dan mendatangkan api ke atas mereka. Api itu merambat di antara mereka dan menghanguskan sebagian dari perkemahan.
And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
2 Orang-orang itu berteriak-teriak minta tolong kepada Musa. Lalu Musa berdoa kepada TUHAN, maka padamlah api itu.
And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
3 Karena kejadian itu, tempat itu dinamakan Tabera, karena di situ api TUHAN berkobar di tengah mereka.
And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
4 Dalam perjalanan orang-orang Israel itu ada juga orang-orang asing yang ikut. Mereka itu ingin sekali makan daging, dan orang Israel juga mulai mengeluh. Kata mereka, "Ah, coba ada daging untuk kita!
And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5 Kita teringat pada ikan yang kita makan dengan cuma-cuma di Mesir, pada mentimun, semangka, prei, bawang merah dan bawang putih!
We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6 Sekarang kita kehabisan tenaga karena tak ada makanan selain manna saja yang kita lihat."
But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
7 Rupa manna itu seperti biji-biji kecil, warnanya putih kekuning-kuningan.
And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8 Pada malam hari manna itu jatuh bersama-sama dengan embun ke tempat perkemahan. Pagi-pagi orang-orang berjalan kian kemari untuk mengumpulkannya, lalu menggiling atau menumbuknya menjadi tepung, dan membuatnya menjadi kue bundar yang gepeng. Rasanya seperti kue yang dipanggang dengan minyak zaitun.
And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
10 Musa mendengar orang-orang Israel itu mengomel, sambil berdiri berkelompok-kelompok di depan pintu kemah mereka. Lalu berkobarlah kemarahan TUHAN sehingga Musa merasa sedih.
Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11 Maka berkatalah ia kepada TUHAN, "Mengapa Engkau menyusahkan saya begini? Apakah Engkau tidak senang kepada saya? Mengapa Engkau menyerahkan tanggung jawab atas semua orang itu kepada saya?
And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore have you afflicted your servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people upon me?
12 Sayakah yang mengandung atau melahirkan mereka itu? Mengapa Engkau menyuruh saya menjadi seperti seorang pengasuh yang menggendong anak kecil, sehingga saya harus mengasuh mereka terus-menerus sepanjang perjalanan ke tanah yang Kaujanjikan kepada leluhur mereka?
Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that you should say unto me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nursing father bears the nursing infant, unto the land which you sware unto their fathers?
13 Lihatlah, mereka terus merengek minta daging. Dan di manakah harus saya cari daging untuk semua orang itu?
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 Tak sanggup saya memikul tanggung jawab sebesar itu; terlalu berat tugas itu bagi saya!
I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 Kalau TUHAN terus membuat saya begini, kasihanilah saya; lebih baik membunuh saya dengan segera supaya saya tidak lagi menanggung penderitaan ini."
And if you deal thus with me, kill me, I pray you, instantly, if I have found favour in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
16 Lalu berkatalah TUHAN kepada Musa, "Kumpulkanlah dari antara bangsa Israel tujuh puluh orang tua-tua yang diakui sebagai pemimpin bangsa. Bawalah mereka ke hadapan-Ku di dalam Kemah-Ku, lalu suruhlah mereka berdiri di situ di sampingmu.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with you.
17 Aku akan turun dan berbicara dengan engkau di tempat itu, dan sebagian dari kuasa yang sudah Kuberikan kepadamu, akan Kuberikan kepada mereka. Maka dapatlah mereka membantu engkau memikul tanggung jawab atas bangsa ini, dan tidak usah engkau memikulnya sendirian.
And I will come down and talk with you there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone.
18 Sekarang katakanlah ini kepada bangsa itu: Sucikanlah dirimu untuk besok; kamu akan makan daging. TUHAN sudah mendengar kamu menangis dan mengeluh bahwa kamu ingin makan daging, dan bahwa nasibmu lebih baik waktu di Mesir. Sekarang TUHAN akan memberi kamu daging, dan kamu dapat memakannya.
And say you unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and all of you shall eat flesh: for all of you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and all of you shall eat.
19 Kamu akan memakannya tidak hanya selama satu atau dua hari, atau lima hari atau sepuluh hari, bahkan tidak hanya dua puluh hari,
All of you shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20 tetapi satu bulan penuh lamanya kamu memakannya, sampai kamu menjadi sakit dan muntah-muntah karenanya. Hal itu terjadi karena kamu telah menolak TUHAN yang ada di tengah-tengah kamu. Dan juga karena kamu telah menangis di hadapan-Nya dan mengeluh bahwa kamu telah meninggalkan tanah Mesir."
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that all of you have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
21 Lalu Musa berkata kepada TUHAN, "Bangsa yang saya pimpin ini berjumlah 600.000 orang. Bagaimana Engkau dapat berkata bahwa Engkau akan memberi mereka daging secukupnya selama satu bulan?
And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22 Di manakah ada sapi dan domba sebegitu banyak yang harus dipotong untuk mengenyangkan mereka? Apakah semua ikan di laut cukup untuk memberi makan kepada mereka?"
Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23 Jawab TUHAN, "Apakah kekuasaan-Ku terbatas? Engkau akan segera melihat apakah yang Kukatakan itu sungguh terjadi atau tidak!"
And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? you shall see now whether my word shall come to pass unto you or not.
24 Maka keluarlah Musa dan disampaikannya kepada bangsa itu apa yang telah dikatakan TUHAN. Musa mengumpulkan tujuh puluh pemimpin dan menyuruh mereka berdiri di sekeliling Kemah TUHAN.
And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
25 Lalu TUHAN turun di dalam awan dan berbicara kepada Musa. TUHAN mengambil sebagian dari kuasa yang telah diberikan-Nya kepada Musa dan memberikan-Nya kepada ketujuh puluh pemimpin itu. Ketika Roh TUHAN itu turun ke atas mereka, mulailah mereka berseru seperti nabi, tetapi tidak lama.
And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spoke unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
26 Dua di antara ketujuh puluh pemimpin itu, Eldad dan Medad, tinggal di perkemahan dan tidak pergi bersama-sama dengan yang lain ke Kemah TUHAN. Di perkemahan itu Roh turun ke atas mereka, dan mereka berdua pun mulai berseru-seru seperti nabi.
But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
27 Lalu seorang pemuda lari ke luar untuk memberitahukan kepada Musa apa yang terjadi pada Eldad dan Medad.
And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28 Yosua anak Nun, yang telah membantu Musa sejak masa mudanya, berkata kepada Musa, "Suruhlah mereka berhenti, Pak!"
And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29 Musa menjawab, "Mengapa Engkau memikirkan saya? Saya malah mengharap supaya TUHAN memberikan Roh-Nya kepada seluruh bangsa-Nya, dan membuat mereka semua menjadi nabi!"
And Moses said unto him, Envy you for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
30 Lalu Musa kembali ke perkemahan bersama ketujuh puluh pemimpin Israel itu.
And Moses got him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 Tiba-tiba TUHAN mendatangkan angin dari laut; angin itu membawa burung-burung puyuh yang terbang rendah sekali, sampai satu meter di atas permukaan tanah. Mereka beterbangan di atas perkemahan itu sampai sejauh beberapa kilometer di sekitarnya.
And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32 Sepanjang hari itu, sepanjang malam dan sepanjang hari berikutnya, orang-orang asyik menangkap burung puyuh. Setiap orang menangkap paling sedikit seribu kilogram. Burung-burung itu mereka serakkan di sekeliling perkemahan supaya menjadi kering.
And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 Selagi masih ada banyak daging untuk dimakan, TUHAN menjadi marah kepada bangsa itu dan mendatangkan suatu wabah di antara mereka.
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD stroke the people with a very great plague.
34 Maka tempat itu dinamakan "Kuburan Kerakusan", karena di situ dikuburkan orang-orang yang mati karena rakus.
And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35 Dari situ bangsa itu pindah ke daerah Hazerot, lalu berkemah di tempat itu.
And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
