Nahum 1
1 Inilah pesan Allah mengenai Niniwe. Pesan itu dinyatakan dengan penglihatan yang diberikan kepada Nahum, seorang nabi yang berasal dari Elkos.

2 TUHAN Allah tak mau mempunyai saingan, orang yang melawan-Nya, pasti mendapat hukuman. Dengan sangat murka, Ia membalas dendam kepada mereka.
God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies.
3 Memang TUHAN, tidak cepat marah; tetapi Ia juga sangat berkuasa sehingga barangsiapa berbuat kesalahan tak akan dibebaskan-Nya dari hukuman. Di mana TUHAN berjalan, di situ timbul topan; di tempat kaki-Nya menginjak, di situ debu menjadi awan.
The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete.
4 Ia mengancam laut dan mengeringkannya, segala sungai dijadikan habis airnya. Gunung Karmel dan padang-padang di Basan menjadi gersang dan di Libanon layulah segala kembang.
He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.
5 Gunung-gunung gemetar di hadapan-Nya; dan bukit pun menjadi cair semua. Jika TUHAN tampil, bumi bergetar, dunia dan semua penduduknya gemetar.
The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.
6 Siapa dapat tahan kalau TUHAN murka? Tiada yang dapat luput dari kemarahan-Nya? Ia melampiaskan amarah-Nya yang menyala batu hancur dan menjadi debu di hadapan-Nya.
Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him.
7 TUHAN itu baik, Ia melindungi umat-Nya waktu mereka susah, Ia menjaga orang yang berlindung kepada-Nya.
The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 Seperti banjir besar yang melanda, dihancurkan-Nya musuh-musuh-Nya. Mereka yang berani melawan Dia dihantam-Nya dengan maut hingga binasa.
But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.
9 Rencana apapun yang kaubuat melawan TUHAN, pasti akan menemui kegagalan. Tak akan Ia membalas dendam-Nya sampai dua kali kepada musuh-musuh-Nya.
What doe ye imagine against the Lord? he wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shall not rise vp the seconde time.
10 Engkau akan dibakar seperti jerami yang kering seperti semak berduri yang terjalin-jalin.
For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkards in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.
11 Daripadamu, hai Niniwe, telah muncul seorang yang penuh dengan rancangan jahat. Ia membuat rencana untuk melawan TUHAN.
There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lord, euen a wicked counsellour.
12 Maka kata TUHAN kepada Israel, umat-Nya, "Meskipun orang-orang Asyur itu kuat serta banyak jumlahnya, namun mereka akan dihancurkan lalu lenyap. Hai bangsa-Ku, Aku telah membuat kamu menderita, tetapi Aku tak akan melakukannya lagi.
Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 Sekarang akan Kuakhiri kuasa Asyur atas kamu, dan Kuputuskan rantai yang mengikat kamu."
For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 Inilah keputusan TUHAN mengenai bangsa Asyur, "Mereka tidak akan mempunyai keturunan untuk penerus bangsanya. Patung-patung berhala yang ada di dalam kuil-kuil dewanya, akan Kuhancurkan. Kuburan untuk bangsa Asyur sedang Kupersiapkan, sebab mereka tak layak hidup!"
And the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.
15 Lihatlah, seorang utusan datang melalui gunung-gunung, membawa kabar baik, kabar kemenangan. Hai bangsa Yehuda, rayakanlah hari rayamu dan bayarlah kaulmu kepada Allah. Negerimu tak akan lagi dijajah oleh penjahat. Mereka sudah dihancurkan sama sekali.
Beholde vpon the mountaines the feete of him that declareth, and publisheth peace: O Iudah, keepe thy solemne feastes, perfourme thy vowes: for the wicked shall no more passe thorowe thee: he is vtterly cut off.
