Yosua 7
1 TUHAN sudah memerintahkan kepada umat Israel bahwa dari segala sesuatu di kota Yerikho yang harus dimusnahkan, satu pun tidak boleh diambil. Tetapi perintah itu tidak ditaati. Seorang laki-laki bernama Akhan melanggar perintah itu, sehingga TUHAN marah sekali kepada umat Israel. (Ayah Akhan bernama Karmi dan kakeknya bernama Zabdi dari kaum Zerah dalam suku Yehuda.)
And they acted unfaithfully [the] people of Israel unfaithfulness in the devoted thing[s] and he took Achan [the] son of Carmi [the] son of Zabdi [the] son of Zerah of [the] tribe of Judah some of the devoted thing[s] and it burned [the] anger of Yahweh on [the] people of Israel.
2 Pada waktu itu Yosua mengutus beberapa orang dari Yerikho ke Ai, yaitu sebuah kota sebelah timur Betel, dekat Bet-Awen. Orang-orang itu ditugaskan untuk pergi menyelidiki daerah itu. Sesudah mereka melakukan tugas itu,
And he sent Joshua men from Jericho Ai which [is] beside Beth Aven from [the] east of Beth-el and he said to them saying go up and spy out the land and they went up the men and they spied out Ai.
3 mereka kembali dan melaporkannya kepada Yosua. Mereka berkata, "Tidak perlu kita semuanya pergi menyerang Ai. Kirim saja kira-kira dua atau tiga ribu orang. Jangan kirim semua tentara ke sana untuk bertempur, karena kota itu kecil saja."
And they returned to Joshua and they said to him may not it go up all the people about two thousand man or about three thousand man let them go up and they may attack Ai may not you make go wearily there towards all the people for [are] few they.
4 Jadi yang pergi menyerbu kota itu hanyalah tiga ribu orang, tetapi mereka dipukul mundur.
And they went up some of the people there about three thousand man and they fled before [the] men of Ai.
5 Orang-orang Ai mengejar mereka dari gerbang kota Ai sampai ke daerah pertambangan, lalu membunuh kira-kira tiga puluh enam orang dari antara mereka di lereng bukit. Maka orang-orang Israel menjadi cemas dan takut.
And they struck down of them [the] men of Ai about thirty and six man and they pursued them before the gate to Shebarim and they struck down them at the descent and it melted [the] heart of the people and it became water.
6 Yosua dan para pemimpin umat Israel sangat sedih sehingga mereka menyobek-nyobek pakaian mereka, dan sepanjang hari sampai malam mereka sujud di depan Peti Perjanjian TUHAN dengan menaruh abu di kepala mereka sebagai tanda bersedih hati.
And he tore Joshua clothes his and he fell on face his [the] ground towards before [the] ark of Yahweh until the evening he and [the] elders of Israel and they made go up dust on head their.
7 Yosua berkata kepada TUHAN, "O Allah Tuhanku! Untuk apa Engkau membawa kami sampai ke seberang Yordan ini? Apakah untuk menyerahkan kami kepada orang-orang Amori? Supaya kami mati? Lebih baik kami tinggal di sana saja, di seberang Yordan!
And he said Joshua alas! - O Lord Yahweh why? have you brought over at all the people this the Jordan to give us in [the] hand of the Amorite[s] to destroy us and if we had been willing and we had remained on [the] other side of the Jordan.
8 O TUHAN! Musuh sudah memukul mundur orang-orang Israel. Sekarang apa yang harus saya katakan?
Pardon me O Lord what? will I say after that it has turned Israel a neck before enemies its.
9 Orang Kanaan dan semua orang lain di daerah ini akan mendengar tentang hal itu. Mereka akan mengepung dan membunuh kami semua! Lalu apakah yang akan Kaulakukan untuk mempertahankan kehormatan-Mu?"
And they may hear the Canaanite[s] and all [the] inhabitants of the land and they will surround us and they will cut off name our from the earth and what? will you do for name your great.
10 TUHAN menjawab Yosua, "Bangun! Tidak ada gunanya engkau sujud seperti itu di tanah!
And he said Yahweh to Joshua stand up for yourself why? this [are] you falling on face your.
11 Orang Israel sudah berbuat dosa. Aku sudah memerintahkan supaya mereka mentaati perjanjian antara mereka dengan Aku, tetapi mereka melanggarnya! Barang-barang yang harus dimusnahkan telah mereka ambil. Mereka mencuri dan menyembunyikannya di antara barang-barang mereka supaya tidak ketahuan.
It has sinned Israel and also they have transgressed covenant my which I commanded them and also they have taken some of the devoted thing[s] and also they have stolen and also they have deceived and also they have put [them] among things their.
12 Itulah sebabnya mereka tidak dapat bertahan menghadapi musuh. Mereka dipukul mundur oleh musuh karena mereka sendiri pun sudah dijatuhi hukuman untuk dimusnahkan. Aku tidak akan mendampingi kalian lagi, kalau barang-barang yang tidak boleh diambil itu belum dimusnahkan.
And not they are able [the] people of Israel to stand before enemies their a neck they turn before enemies their for they have become a devoted thing not I will repeat to be with you if not you will destroy the devoted thing[s] from midst your.
13 Sekarang bangun, Yosua! Sucikan umat Israel dan suruh mereka siap untuk menghadap Aku. Perintahkan mereka untuk bersiap-siap besok, sebab Aku TUHAN Allah Israel akan mengatakan ini kepada mereka: 'Hai orang-orang Israel! Barang-barang yang sudah Kuperintahkan kepadamu untuk dimusnahkan, sebagian ada padamu. Sebelum kalian membuang barang-barang itu, kalian tidak akan dapat bertahan melawan musuh!'
Arise consecrate the people and you will say consecrate yourselves for tomorrow for thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel devoted thing[s] [are] in midst your O Israel not you will be able to stand before enemies your until remove you the devoted thing[s] from midst your.
14 Sebab itu, Yosua, beritahukanlah kepada mereka bahwa besok pagi mereka akan diperiksa suku demi suku. Kalau Aku menunjuk satu suku, semua kaum dalam suku itu harus maju kaum demi kaum. Dan kalau Aku menunjuk satu kaum, semua keluarga dalam kaum itu harus maju keluarga demi keluarga. Kemudian kalau Aku menunjuk satu keluarga, setiap orang dalam keluarga itu harus maju seorang demi seorang.
And you will bring yourselves near in the morning to tribes your and it will be the tribe which he will take it Yahweh it will draw near to the families and the family which he will take it Yahweh it will draw near to the households and the household which he will take it Yahweh it will draw near to the men.
15 Lalu orang yang ditunjuk dan ternyata menyimpan barang-barang yang terlarang itu harus dibakar habis bersama-sama dengan keluarganya dan segala sesuatu yang dimilikinya; karena dialah yang melanggar perjanjian dan melakukan kejahatan besar di tengah-tengah umat Israel."
And it will be the [one who] is taken by lot with the devoted thing[s] he will be burned with fire him and all that [belongs] to him for he has transgressed covenant of Yahweh and for he has done disgraceful folly in Israel.
16 Besoknya, pagi-pagi sekali, Yosua menyuruh umat Israel maju ke depan, suku demi suku, maka suku Yehudalah yang kena.
And he rose early Joshua in the morning and he brought near Israel to tribes its and it was taken by lot [the] tribe of Judah.
17 Lalu Yosua menyuruh suku Yehuda maju ke depan, kaum demi kaum, dan kaum Zerahlah yang kena. Kemudian kaum Zerah disuruh maju ke depan, keluarga demi keluarga, dan keluarga Zabdi yang kena.
And he brought near [the] family of Judah and he took [the] family of the Zerahite[s] and he brought near [the] family of the Zerahite[s] to the men and he was taken by lot Zabdi.
18 Sesudah itu Yosua menyuruh keluarga Zabdi maju ke depan, seorang demi seorang; maka Akhan, anak Karmi, cucu Zabdi yang kena.
And he brought near household his to the men and he was taken by lot Achan [the] son of Carmi [the] son of Zabdi [the] son of Zerah of [the] tribe of Judah.
19 Yosua berkata kepada Akhan, "Anakku, akuilah dan katakanlah terus terang di sini di hadapan TUHAN, Allah Israel, apa yang telah kaulakukan. Beritahukanlah kepadaku, jangan sembunyikan."
And he said Joshua to Achan O son my put please glory to Yahweh [the] God of Israel and give to him confession and tell please to me what? have you done may not you hide [it] from me.
20 "Benar," kata Akhan, "Saya sudah berbuat dosa kepada TUHAN, Allah Israel. Inilah yang saya lakukan:
And he answered Achan Joshua and he said truly I I have sinned to Yahweh [the] God of Israel and like this and like this I have done.
21 Di antara barang-barang yang kita rebut, saya melihat sehelai jubah yang bagus sekali, buatan Babilonia, juga perak kira-kira dua kilogram, dan sebatang emas setengah kilogram lebih. Saya ingin sekali barang-barang itu, maka saya mengambil dan menyembunyikannya di dalam tanah di kemah saya; peraknya berada di bawah sekali."
(And I saw *Q(k)*) among the booty cloak of Shinar one good and two hundred shekels silver and a wedge of gold one [was] fifty shekels weight its and I desired them and I took them and there they [are] hidden in the ground in [the] midst of tent my and the silver [is] under it.
22 Lalu Yosua mengirim orang cepat-cepat ke kemah Akhan. Ternyata barang-barang terlarang itu semuanya ada di sana, disembunyikan di dalam tanah, dan peraknya berada di bawah sekali.
And he sent Joshua messengers and they ran the tent towards and there! [it was] hidden in tent his and the silver [was] under it.
23 Mereka mengambil barang-barang itu dan membawanya kepada Yosua dan semua orang Israel. Lalu barang-barang itu diletakkan di hadapan TUHAN.
And they took them from [the] midst of the tent and they brought them to Joshua and to all [the] people of Israel and they poured out them before Yahweh.
24 Kemudian Yosua dengan seluruh umat Israel menangkap Akhan, dan membawa dia ke Lembah Kesusahan bersama-sama dengan semua anaknya, ternak sapi, keledai, domba, kemah, dan segala sesuatu yang dipunyainya serta perak, jubah dan emas yang dicurinya.
And he took Joshua Achan [the] son of Zerah and the silver and the cloak and [the] wedge of gold and sons his and daughters his and ox[en] his and donkey[s] his and sheep his and tent his and all that [belonged] to him and all Israel with him and they brought up them [the] valley of Achor.
25 Lalu kata Yosua kepada Akhan, "Kenapa engkau mendatangkan kesusahan kepada kita? Sekarang TUHAN akan mendatangkan kesusahan kepadamu!" Maka Akhan bersama keluarganya dilempari dengan batu sampai mati oleh semua orang Israel. Semua harta miliknya, dan juga barang-barang curiannya dibakar habis.
And he said Joshua why? have you brought trouble to us he will bring trouble to you Yahweh on the day this and they stoned him all Israel stone[s] and they burned them with fire and they stoned them with stones.
26 Sesudah itu mereka menimbuni tempat itu dengan banyak sekali batu yang sampai hari ini masih ada di sana. Itu sebabnya tempat itu masih dinamakan Lembah Kesusahan. Maka redalah kemarahan TUHAN.
And they set up over him a heap of stones great until the day this and he turned back Yahweh from [the] burning of anger his there-fore someone called [the] name of the place that [the] valley of Achor until the day this.
