Yesaya 14
1 TUHAN akan mengasihani Israel umat-Nya, dan memilih mereka lagi menjadi milik-Nya. Ia akan menempatkan mereka kembali di negeri mereka sendiri. Orang asing akan datang dan bergabung dengan mereka.
For the Lord wil haue compassion of Iaakob, and wil yet chuse Israel, and cause them to rest in their owne lande: and the stranger shall ioyne him selfe vnto them, and they shall cleaue to the house of Iaakob.
2 Banyak bangsa akan menolong bangsa Israel untuk kembali ke negeri yang diberikan TUHAN kepada mereka, dan di sana bangsa-bangsa itu akan berhamba kepada Israel. Israel akan menawan orang-orang yang pernah menawannya dan memerintah orang-orang yang pernah menindasnya.
And the people shall receiue them and bring them to their owne place, and the house of Israel shall possesse them in the land of the Lord, for seruants and handmaids: and they shall take them prisoners, whose captiues they were, and haue rule ouer their oppressours.
3 TUHAN akan membebaskan orang Israel dari kesakitan dan penderitaannya, dan dari kerja berat yang dipaksakan kepadanya.
And in that day when the Lord shall giue thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy feare, and from the sore bodage, wherein thou didest serue,
4 Apabila TUHAN melakukan itu, mereka akan mengejek raja Babel begini, "Raja yang kejam sudah jatuh! Ia tak dapat menindas lagi.
Then shalt thou take vp this prouerbe against the King of Babel, and say, Howe hath the oppressor ceased? and the gold thirsty Babel rested?
5 TUHAN sudah mengakhiri pemerintahan penguasa-penguasa jahat
The Lord hath broken the rodde of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers:
6 yang dengan marah menindas bangsa-bangsa dan terus-menerus menganiaya mereka.
Which smote the people in anger with a continuall plague, and ruled the nations in wrath: if any were persecuted, he did not let.
7 Akhirnya seluruh dunia akan aman dan tentram, dan setiap orang bernyanyi gembira.
The whole worlde is at rest and is quiet: they sing for ioye.
8 Pohon eru dan pohon cemara Libanon bergembira karena raja yang kejam itu telah jatuh, dan sesudah ia pergi, tak ada yang menyuruh menebang mereka!
Also the firre trees reioyced of thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid downe, no hewer came vp against vs.
9 Dunia orang mati ramai-ramai menyambut raja Babel itu. Maka terjagalah arwah orang-orang yang dahulu berkuasa di bumi, dan arwah para raja bangkit dari takhta mereka. (Sheol h7585)
Hel beneath is mooued for thee to meete thee at thy comming, raising vp the deade for thee, euen all the princes of the earth, and hath raised from their thrones all the Kinges of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
10 Mereka semua berseru kepadanya, 'Hai! Sekarang engkau seperti kami, lemah dan tak berdaya!
All they shall crie, and saie vnto thee, Art thou become weake also as we? art thou become like vnto vs?
11 Dahulu engkau dihormati dengan musik kecapi, tetapi sekarang sudah berada di kesunyian dunia orang mati. Ulat-ulat menjadi ranjangmu dan cacing menjadi selimutmu.' (Sheol h7585)
Thy pompe is brought downe to ye graue, and the sounde of thy violes: the worme is spred vnder thee, and the wormes couer thee. (Sheol h7585)
12 Hai raja Babel, dahulu engkau bintang pagi yang cemerlang, tapi sekarang sudah jatuh dari langit! Dahulu engkau mengalahkan bangsa-bangsa, tapi sekarang dicampakkan ke tanah.
How art thou fallen from heauen, O Lucifer, sonne of the morning? and cutte downe to the grounde, which didest cast lottes vpon the nations?
13 Engkau bertekad naik ke langit dan menempatkan takhtamu di atas bintang yang tertinggi! Kaupikir engkau dapat duduk sebagai raja di atas gunung sebelah utara, tempat dewa-dewa berkumpul.
Yet thou saidest in thine heart, I will ascende into heauen, and exalt my throne aboue beside the starres of God: I will sitte also vpon the mount of the Congregation in the sides of the North.
14 Engkau berkata, bahwa engkau akan naik ke atas ketinggian awan-awan dan menjadi seperti Yang Mahatinggi.
I wil ascend aboue ye height of the cloudes, and I will be like the most high.
But thou shalt bee brought downe to the graue, to the sides of the pit. (Sheol h7585)
16 Mereka yang berada di situ akan memandang dan menatap engkau. Mereka akan bertanya, 'Inikah orangnya yang menggentarkan bumi dan menggemparkan kerajaan-kerajaan?
They that see thee, shall looke vpon thee and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, and that did shake the kingdomes?
17 Diakah yang menghancurkan kota-kota dan mengubah dunia menjadi padang pasir? Dia inikah yang tak pernah melepaskan tawanan-tawanannya atau membiarkan mereka pulang?'
He made the worlde as a wildernesse, and destroied the cities thereof, and opened not the house of his prisoners.
18 Semua bekas raja bangsa-bangsa dimakamkan dengan semarak di makamnya masing-masing,
All the Kings of the nations, euen they all sleepe in glorie, euery one in his owne house.
19 tetapi engkau tak punya kuburan; mayatmu dibuang seperti tunas yang ditolak, ditimbuni mayat-mayat pejuang yang tewas dalam perang, dan dilemparkan bersama mereka ke liang batu, seperti bangkai yang terinjak-injak.
But thou art cast out of thy graue like an abominable branch: like the raiment of those that are slaine, and thrust thorowe with a sword, which goe downe to the stones of the pit, as a carkeise troden vnder feete.
20 Engkau sudah membinasakan negerimu dan membunuh bangsamu sendiri. Karena itu engkau tak akan dikuburkan seperti raja-raja lain. Tak seorang pun dari keluargamu yang jahat itu akan diselamatkan.
Thou shalt not be ioyned with them in the graue, because thou hast destroied thine owne lande, and slaine thy people: the seede of the wicked shall not be renoumed for euer.
21 Pembantaian akan segera dimulai! Putra-putramu akan mati karena dosa leluhur mereka. Tak seorang pun dari mereka akan memerintah di bumi atau membangun kota-kota."
Prepare a slaughter for his children, for the iniquitie of their fathers: let them not rise vp nor possesse the land, nor fil the face of the world with enemies.
22 TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata, "Aku akan menyerang Babel dan melenyapkannya. Tak seorang pun akan Kuselamatkan, bahkan anak-anak tidak Kubiarkan hidup. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara.
For I wil rise vp against them (sayth the Lord of hostes) and will cut off from Babel the name and the remnant and the sonne, and the nephew, sayth the Lord:
23 Babel akan Kujadikan rawa-rawa yang didiami burung hantu. Babel akan Kusapu bersih. Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, telah berbicara."
And I wil make it a possession to ye hedgehogge, and pooles of water, and I will sweepe it with the besome of destruction, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
24 TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa bersumpah: "Yang sudah Kurencanakan itu pasti akan terlaksana.
The Lord of hostes hath sworne, saying, Surely like as I haue purposed, so shall it come to passe, and as I haue consulted, it shall stand:
25 Orang Asyur di Israel negeri-Ku, akan Kubinasakan, dan yang ada di gunung-gunung-Ku akan Kuinjak-injak. Aku akan membebaskan bangsa-Ku dari penindasan dan dari beban yang dipaksakan kepada mereka oleh orang Asyur.
That I will breake to pieces Asshur in my land, and vpon my mountaines will I treade him vnder foote: so that his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden shall be taken from off their shoulder.
26 Inilah rencana-Ku untuk dunia; lengan-Ku terentang untuk menghukum bangsa-bangsa."
This is the counsell that is consulted vpon the whole worlde, and this is the hande stretched out ouer all the nations,
27 TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa sudah memutuskan untuk berbuat demikian. Ia merentangkan tangan-Nya untuk menghukum, dan tak seorang pun dapat mencegah Dia.
Because the Lord of hostes hath determined it, and who shall disanull it? and his hande is stretched out, and who shall turne it away?
28 Inilah pesan yang diumumkan dalam tahun Raja Ahas meninggal.
In the yeere that King Ahaz died, was this burden.
29 Hai bangsa Filistin, pentung yang dipakai untuk memukulmu sudah patah. Tetapi jangan engkau bergembira, sebab kalau seekor ular mati, ular yang lebih jahat lagi datang menggantikannya, dan telur ular menetaskan naga bersayap.
Reioyce not, (thou whole Palestina) because the rod of him that did beat thee, is broken for out of the serpents roote shall come forth a cockatrise, and the fruit therof shalbe a firy flying serpent.
30 Kamu akan ditimpa kelaparan hebat, dan semua orang yang tersisa akan dibunuh. Sebaliknya, orang yang paling miskin dari umat TUHAN akan mendapat makanan, dan orang-orang yang tak berdaya akan hidup dengan aman sentosa.
For the first borne of the poore shall be fed, and the needie shall lie downe in safetie: and I will kill thy roote with famine, and it shall slay thy remnant.
31 Merataplah, dan berteriaklah minta tolong, hai kota-kota Filistin! Hendaklah kamu semua gempar ketakutan! Awan debu mengepul dari utara menandakan kedatangan pasukan musuh; tak ada pengecut di antara mereka.
Howle, O gate, crie, O citie: thou whole lande of Palestina art dissolued, for there shall come from the North a smoke, and none shalbe alone, at his time appointed.
32 Jawaban apa akan kita berikan kepada utusan-utusan yang datang dari bangsa Filistin? Kita akan mengatakan kepada mereka bahwa TUHAN sudah membangun Sion, dan umat-Nya yang menderita akan mendapat perlindungan di situ.
What shall then one answere the messengers of the Gentiles? That the Lord hath stablished Zion, and the poore of his people shall trust in it.
