Hosea 13

1 Dahulu suku Efraim dihormati sehingga apabila ada perintah dari suku itu, suku-suku lain di Israel takut. Tapi suku Efraim berdosa karena menyembah Baal, sebab itu ia akan lenyap.

According to the word of Ephraim he adopted ordinances for himself in Israel; and he established them for Baal, and died.

2 Sampai sekarang orang-orang Efraim itu masih terus berbuat dosa; mereka membuat patung-patung perak untuk disembah--patung yang direncanakan oleh akal manusia dan dibentuk oleh tangan manusia. Mereka berkata, "Persembahkanlah kurban kepada patung-patung ini!" Aneh, manusia mencium patung anak sapi!

And now they have sinned increasingly, and have made for themselves a molten image of their silver, according to the fashion of idols, the work of artificers accomplished for them: they say, Sacrifice men, for the calves have come to an end.

3 Karena itu orang-orang itu akan lenyap seperti kabut atau embun di pagi hari. Mereka akan seperti debu merang yang ditiup angin di pengirikan gandum, dan seperti asap yang keluar dari cerobong.

Therefore shall they be as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that passes away, as chaff blown away from the threshing floor, and as a vapour from tears.

4 TUHAN berkata, "Akulah TUHAN Allahmu, yang membawa kamu keluar dari Mesir. Kamu tidak mempunyai Allah selain Aku. Akulah satu-satunya penyelamatmu.

But I am the Lord your God that establishes the heaven, and creates the earth, whose hands have framed the whole host of heaven: but I showed them not to you that you should go after them: and I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but me; and there is no Saviour beside me.

5 Di tanah gersang di padang gurun, Akulah yang menjaga kamu.

I tended you as a shepherd in the wilderness, in an uninhabited land.

6 Tapi setelah kamu berada di negeri yang baik, dan kamu kenyang serta puas, kamu menjadi angkuh lalu melupakan Aku.

According to their pastures, so they were completely filled; and their hearts were exalted; therefore they forgot me.

7 Karena itu Aku akan menyergap kamu seperti singa. Seperti macan tutul Aku akan menghadang kamu di jalan.

And I will be to them as a panther, and as a leopard.

8 Aku akan menyerang kamu seperti beruang yang kehilangan anak-anaknya. Aku akan menyobek-nyobek kamu. Seperti singa Aku akan menerkam kamu di tempatmu, dan seperti binatang buas Aku akan mencabik-cabik kamu.

I will meet them by the way of the Assyrians, as a she-bear excited, and I will rend the caul of their heart, and the lions' whelps of the thicket shall devour them there; the wild beasts of the field shall rend them in pieces.

9 Aku akan menghancurkan kamu, hai bangsa Israel! Dan siapakah yang dapat menolongmu?

O Israel, who will aid [you] in your destruction?

10 Kamu minta raja dan pemimpin, tapi di manakah mereka semua sekarang? Dapatkah mereka menyelamatkan rakyatmu?

Where is this your king? let him even save you in all your cities: let him judge you, of whom you said, Give me a king and a prince.

11 Dengan marah Aku memberikan raja kepadamu, dan dengan geram Kutarik mereka kembali."

And I gave you a king in mine anger, and kept [him] back in my wrath.

12 TUHAN berkata, "Dosa dan kesalahan Israel telah dicatat, dan catatannya disimpan.

Ephraim [has framed] a conspiracy of unrighteousness, his sin is hidden.

13 Israel mempunyai kesempatan untuk hidup, tapi ia begitu bodoh sehingga tidak menggunakan kesempatan itu. Ia seperti bayi yang sesaat lagi akan lahir tapi tidak mau keluar dari rahim ibu.

Pains as of a woman in travail shall come upon him: he is your wise son, because he shall not stay in the destruction of [your] children.

14 Bangsa ini tidak akan Kuselamatkan dari kuasa dunia orang mati. Hai kematian, sebarkanlah wabahmu! Laksanakanlah pekerjaanmu yang menghancurkan itu! Aku tidak mengasihani bangsa ini lagi. (Sheol h7585)

I will deliver [them] out of the power of Hades, and will redeem them from death: where is your penalty, O death? O Hades, where is your sting? comfort is hidden from mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)

15 Sekalipun Israel makmur seperti rumput yang subur, namun Aku akan mengirim angin timur yang panas dari padang gurun. Angin itu akan mengeringkan segala mata air dan sumur-sumur, sehingga lenyaplah semua yang berharga.

Forasmuch as he will cause a division amongst [his] brethren, the Lord shall bring upon him an east wind from the desert, and shall dry up his veins [and] quite drain his fountains: he shall dry up his land, and [spoil] all his precious vessels.

16 Samaria harus dihukum karena memberontak melawan Aku. Rakyatnya akan tewas dalam pertempuran; anak-anak bayinya akan digilas, dan wanita-wanita hamil dibelah perutnya."

Samaria shall be utterly destroyed: for she has resisted her God; they shall fall by the sword, and their sucklings shall be dashed against the ground, and their women with child ripped up.
