Hagai 1
1 Pada tahun kedua pemerintahan Raja Darius atas Persia, pada tanggal satu bulan keenam, TUHAN berbicara dengan perantaraan Nabi Hagai. Pesan TUHAN itu ditujukan kepada Zerubabel anak Sealtiel, gubernur Yehuda, dan kepada Imam Agung Yosua anak Yozadak.
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying:
2 TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata kepada Hagai, "Bangsa ini mengatakan bahwa belum waktunya untuk membangun kembali Rumah-Ku."
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come for building the house of the Lord.
3 Kemudian dengan perantaraan Nabi Hagai, TUHAN berkata kepada umat-Nya,
And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, saying:
4 "Hai umat-Ku, apakah sudah waktunya bagimu untuk tinggal dalam rumah yang kuat dan kokoh, sedangkan Rumah-Ku masih berupa puing-puing?
Is it time for you to dwell in ceiled houses, and this house lie desolate?
5 Coba, perhatikanlah keadaanmu!
And now thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts to consider your ways.
6 Kamu telah menabur banyak benih, namun panenmu sedikit. Kamu ada makanan, tetapi tidak cukup untuk mengenyangkan perutmu. Kamu mempunyai anggur, tetapi tidak cukup untuk memuaskan hatimu. Kamu mempunyai pakaian, tetapi tidak cukup untuk menghangatkan dirimu. Dan upah yang diterima kaum buruh tidak cukup untuk menyambung hidup mereka.
You have sowed much, and brought in little: you have eaten, but have not had enough: you have drunk, but have not been filled with drink: you have clothed yourselves, but have not been warmed: and he that hath earned wages, put them into a bag with holes.
7 Tidak sadarkah kamu, mengapa hal itu terjadi?
Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set Your hearts upon your ways:
8 Sekarang, naiklah ke bukit-bukit untuk mengambil kayu, lalu bangunlah Rumah-Ku; maka Aku akan merasa senang dan Aku akan disembah lagi dengan cara yang semestinya. Coba, perhatikanlah keadaanmu!
Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord.
9 Kamu mengharapkan hasil panen yang berlimpah-limpah, tahu-tahu yang kamu dapat hanya sedikit sekali; kamu membawanya pulang, tetapi hasil panenmu itu Kuhembus, sehingga habis dibawa angin. Mengapa Kulakukan itu? Jawabnya ialah: Karena Rumah-Ku masih berupa puing-puing, sedangkan kamu semua giat membangun rumahmu masing-masing.
You have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house.
10 Itulah sebabnya hujan tidak kunjung turun sehingga tak ada tanaman yang bisa tumbuh.
Therefore the heavens over you were stayed from giving dew, and the earth was hindered from yielding her fruits:
11 Aku telah mendatangkan kekeringan atas tanah dan bukit-bukit, atas ladang-ladang gandum dan kebun-kebun anggur serta kebun-kebun zaitun, dan atas segala tumbuh-tumbuhan di tanah ini, bahkan juga atas manusia dan hewan serta segala sesuatu yang kamu usahakan."
And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon all that the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon beasts, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12 Kemudian Zerubabel dan Yosua serta seluruh umat Israel yang telah kembali dari pembuangan di Babel, mentaati kata-kata Hagai, utusan TUHAN itu. Mereka melakukan apa yang diperintahkan TUHAN kepada mereka, karena takut kepada TUHAN.
Then Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and all the remnant of the people hearkened to the voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Aggeus the prophet, as the Lord their God sent him to them: and the people feared before the Lord.
13 Lalu Hagai menyampaikan kepada rakyat pesan TUHAN bahwa TUHAN telah berjanji akan melindungi mereka.
And Aggeus the messenger of the Lord, as one of the messengers of the Lord, spoke, saying to the people: I am with you, saith the Lord.
14 Demikianlah TUHAN menggerakkan hati Gubernur Zerubabel, Imam Agung Yosua serta semua orang yang telah kembali dari pembuangan, supaya mereka semua bekerja membangun Rumah TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah mereka.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel governor of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people: and they went in, and did the work in the house of the Lord of hosts their God.
15 Mereka mulai bekerja pada tanggal dua puluh empat, bulan enam dalam tahun kedua masa pemerintahan Raja Darius.
In the four and twentieth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king, they began.
