2 Tawarikh 12

1 Setelah kedudukan Rehabeam sebagai raja telah menjadi kuat, ia dan seluruh rakyat Israel mengabaikan hukum TUHAN,

And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 dan tidak setia kepada-Nya. Karena itu TUHAN menghukum mereka. Pada tahun kelima pemerintahan Rehabeam, Sisak raja Mesir menyerang Yerusalem

Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)

3 dengan 1.200 kereta perang, 60.000 tentara berkuda, dan sejumlah prajurit yang tak terhitung banyaknya, termasuk pasukan Libia, Suki dan Sudan.

With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

4 Ia merebut kota-kota berbenteng di Yehuda lalu maju sampai ke Yerusalem.

And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.

5 Pada waktu itu Raja Rehabeam dan para pemimpin Yehuda telah berkumpul di Yerusalem karena melarikan diri dari Sisak. Nabi Semaya datang kepada mereka dan berkata, "Begini kata TUHAN, 'Kamu meninggalkan Aku, jadi sekarang Aku pun meninggalkan kamu sehingga kamu dikuasai oleh Sisak.'"

Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.

6 Raja dan para pemimpin mengakui bahwa mereka sudah berdosa. Mereka berkata, "Apa yang dilakukan TUHAN itu adil."

Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.

7 Ketika TUHAN melihat bahwa mereka telah merendahkan diri, Ia berbicara lagi kepada Semaya, kata-Nya, "Karena mereka mengakui dosa mereka, maka Aku tak akan membinasakan mereka. Aku akan segera meluputkan mereka; Yerusalem tidak akan hancur. Meskipun begitu, Sisak

And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 akan menguasai mereka, supaya mereka tahu perbedaan antara mengabdi kepada-Ku dan mengabdi kepada penguasa-penguasa dunia."

Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.

9 Maka datanglah Raja Sisak menyerang kota Yerusalem dan merampas barang-barang berharga yang terdapat di Rumah TUHAN dan di istana raja, juga perisai-perisai emas yang dibuat oleh Raja Salomo.

Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.

10 Sebagai gantinya Rehabeam membuat perisai-perisai perunggu, dan mempercayakannya kepada para perwira yang mengawal pintu gerbang istana.

In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

11 Setiap kali raja pergi ke Rumah TUHAN, para pengawal membawa perisai-perisai itu, kemudian mengembalikannya ke kamar jaga.

And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.

12 Karena raja merendahkan diri di hadapan TUHAN, dan juga karena masih ada hal-hal yang baik di Yehuda maka redalah kemarahan TUHAN kepada Rehabeam dan tidak membinasakan dia sama sekali.

And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.

13 Rehabeam memerintah di Yerusalem dan kekuasaannya semakin besar. Ia berumur 41 tahun ketika menjadi raja, dan ia memerintah 17 tahun lamanya di Yerusalem, kota yang dari seluruh wilayah Israel dipilih TUHAN untuk menjadi tempat ibadat kepada-Nya. Ibu Rehabeam adalah Naama dari negeri Amon.

So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.

14 Rehabeam berbuat jahat karena tidak berusaha melakukan kehendak TUHAN.

And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.

15 Kisah tentang Rehabeam dari mula sampai akhir dan silsilahnya dicatat dalam buku Sejarah Nabi Semaya dan dalam buku Sejarah Nabi Ido. Antara Rehabeam dan Yerobeam selalu saja terjadi peperangan.

The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.

16 Rehabeam meninggal dan dikuburkan di makam raja-raja di Kota Daud. Abia putranya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
