< Dagiti Proverbio 1 >
1 Dagiti proverbio ni Solomon nga anak ni David, ti ari ti Israel.
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, the king of Israel.
2 Mangisuro dagitoy a proverbio iti kinasirib ken sursuro, mangisuro kadagiti sasao iti pudno a pannakaawat,
These proverbs are to teach wisdom and instruction, to teach words of insight,
3 tapno maawatyo koma ti pannakailinteg tapno agbiagkayo babaen iti panangaramid iti umno, nalinteg, ken maiparbeng.
that you may receive instruction in order to live by doing what is right, just, and fair.
4 Mangted met dagitoy a proverbio iti kinasirib kadagiti saan a nasuroan, ken mangted iti pannakaammo ken kinatimbeng kadagiti agtutubo.
These proverbs are also to give wisdom to the naive, and to give knowledge and discretion to young people.
5 Dumngeg koma dagiti nasirib a tattao ket manayunan ti pannakasursuroda, ken makagun-od koma dagiti mannakaawat a tattao iti pannakatarabay,
Let wise people listen and increase their learning, and let discerning people get guidance,
6 tapno maawatanda dagiti proverbio, pagsasao, ken dagiti sasao dagiti nasirib a tattao ken dagiti burburtiada.
to understand proverbs, sayings, and words of wise people and their riddles.
7 Ti panagbuteng kenni Yahweh ket isu ti pangrugian iti pannakaammo— laisen dagiti maag ti kinasirib ken disiplina.
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge— fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 Anakko, denggem dagiti sursuro ti amam, ken saanmo a baybay-an dagiti annuroten ti inam;
My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not lay aside the rules of your mother;
9 agbalindanto a makaay-ayo a balangat ti ulom ken kuwintas iti tengngedmo.
they will be a graceful wreath for your head and pendants hanging from your neck.
10 Anakko, no awisendaka dagiti managbasol iti basolda, agkedkedka a sumurot kadakuada.
My son, if sinners try to entice you into their sin, refuse to follow them.
11 No kunaenda, “Kumuyogka kadakami, mangpadaantayo iti patayentayo, aglemmengtayo ket mangdaruptayo lattan kadagiti inosente a tattao.
If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us hide and attack innocent people for no reason.
12 Alun-onentayo ida a sibibiag, kas iti panangala ti sheol kadagiti nasalun-at, ket pagbalinentayo ida a kas kadagiti matmatnag iti abut. (Sheol )
Let us swallow them up alive, like Sheol takes away those who are healthy, and make them like those who fall into the pit. (Sheol )
13 Makasaraktayo kadagiti amin a kita dagiti napapateg a banbanag; punnoentayo dagiti balbalaytayo kadagiti tinakawtayo kadagiti dadduma.
We shall find all kinds of valuable things; we will fill our houses with what we steal from others.
14 Makikappengka kadakami; pagbalinentayo a maymaysa ti supottayo.”
Throw in your lot with us; we will all have one purse together.”
15 Anakko, saanka a makipagna kadakuada iti dayta a dalan; saanmo nga idisdiso ta sakam iti pagpagnaanda;
My son, do not walk down that road with them; do not let your foot touch where they walk;
16 tumartaray dagiti sakada iti kinadakes ken agdardarasda a mangpasayasay iti dara.
their feet run to evil and they hurry to shed blood.
17 Ta awan serserbina nga agipakatka iti iket a mangtiliw iti billit kabayatan a kumitkita ti billit.
For it is useless to spread the net in the sight of any bird.
18 Agpadpadaan dagitoy a tattao a mangpapatayto met laeng kadagiti mismo a bagbagida— mangipakpakatda iti palab-og para kadagiti mismo a bagbagida.
These men lie in wait for their own blood— they set an ambush for their own lives.
19 Kasta dagiti wagas ti amin a tao a manggunggun-od kadagiti kinabaknang babaen iti kinakillo; dagiti banag a nagun-od babaen iti saan a maiparbeng a wagas ti mangpukawto kadagiti biag dagiti kumpet iti daytoy.
So are the ways of everyone who gains riches by injustice; unjust gain takes away the lives of those who hold on to it.
20 Agpukpukkaw ti kinasirib iti kalsada, ipigpigsana ti timekna kadagiti nagtengngaan ti ili;
Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the open places;
21 aglaawlaaw isuna iti nagsasabatan dagiti kalsada, iti pagserkan dagiti ruangan ti siudad ket kunkunana,
at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, at the entrance of the city gates she speaks,
22 “Dakayo nga awanan iti kinasirib, kasano pay kapaut aya ti panangay-ayatyo iti saanyo a maaw-awatan? Dakayo a mananglais, kasano pay kabayag aya ti panangragragsakyo iti pananglalaisyo, ken dakayo a maag, kasano pay kabayag aya a gurguraenyo ti kinalaing?
“How long, you naive people, will you love being naive? How long, you mockers, will you delight in mockery, and how long, you fools, will you hate knowledge?
23 Denggenyo ti panangbabalawko; ibukbukkonto dagiti kapanunotak kadakayo; ipakaammokto dagiti sasaok kadakayo.
Pay attention to my correction; I will pour out my thoughts to you; I will make my words known to you.
24 Immawagak ket saankayo a dimngeg; Inyunnatko ti imak, ngem awan ti nangikaskaso.
I have called, and you have refused to listen; I reached out with my hand, but there was no one who paid attention.
25 Ngem saanyo nga inkankano dagiti amin a sursurok ken saanyo nga impangag ti panangtubtubngarko.
But you have ignored all my instruction and paid no attention to my correction.
26 Katawaakto ti pannakadidigrayo, laisenkayonto inton dumteng ti panagbuteng—
I will laugh at your calamity, I will mock you when the terror comes—
27 inton dumteng a kasla bagyo ti kasta unay a butengyo ket iyanginnakayo ti didigra a kas iti alipugpog, inton dumteng ti panagrigat ken panagtuok kadakayo.
when your fearful dread comes like a storm and disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Iti kasta ket awagandakto, ngem saanakto a sumungbat; kastanto unay ti panangawagda kaniak, ngem saandakto a masarakan.
Then they will call upon me, and I will not answer; they will desperately call for me, but they will not find me.
29 Gapu ta kagurada ti pannakaammo ken saanda a pinili ti agbuteng kenni Yahweh,
Because they hate knowledge and did not choose the fear of Yahweh,
30 saanda a sinurot ti sursurok, ken linaisda amin a panangilintegko.
they would not follow my instruction, and they despised all my correction.
31 Kanendanto ti bunga dagiti aramidda, ket mapnekdanto babaen iti bunga dagiti panggepda.
They will eat the fruit of their ways, and with the fruit of their schemes they will be filled.
32 Mapapatayto dagiti saan a nasuroan inton tumallikudda, ket ti di panangikaskaso dagiti maag ti mangdadaelto kadakuada.
For the naive are killed when they turn away, and the indifference of fools will destroy them.
33 Ngem ti siasinoman a dumngeg kaniak ket agbiagto a sitatalged ken aginananto a sitatalged nga awanan iti panagbuteng iti didigra.”
But whoever listens to me will live in safety and will rest secure with no fear of disaster.”
