< Dagiti Proverbio 18 >
1 Ti tao a mangiyad-adayo iti bagina ket mangbirbiruk iti bukodna a tarigagay, ken kabusorna ti nasayaat a panangikeddeng.
He who separateth himself seeketh his own desire; Against all sound discretion he rusheth on.
2 Saan a makasarak ti maysa a maag iti ragsak iti pannakaawat, ngem iti laeng panangipakaammona iti adda iti pusona.
The fool hath no delight in understanding, But rather in revealing his own mind.
3 No dumteng ti nadangkes a tao, kakuyogna a dumteng ti pananguyaw-kakuyogna ti panangpabain ken panangumsi.
When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt; And with baseness, shame.
4 Dagiti isawsawang ti ngiwat ti tao ket maiyarig iti naguuneg a danum; ti burayok ti kinasirib ket maiyarig iti agay-ayus a waig.
The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, And the wellspring of wisdom is an overflowing brook.
5 Saan a nasayaat nga ayunan dagiti nadangkes, wenno ipaidam ti hustisia kadagiti agar-aramid iti nalinteg.
It is not good to be partial to the wicked, So as to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 Dagiti bibig ti maysa a maag ti mangipapaay kenkuana iti panagririri, ken agaw-awis ti ngiwatna iti pannakabaot.
The lips of a fool enter into strife, And his mouth calleth for blows.
7 Ti ngiwat ti maysa a maag ti mismo a pakadadaelanna, ken siloanna ti bagina babaen kadagiti mismo a bibigna.
A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are a snare for his life.
8 Dagiti sasao ti maysa a managtsismis ket kasla taraon a naimas, ket dumanonda kadagiti kaunggan a paset ti bagi.
The words of a talebearer are like sweet morsels; For they go down to the innermost parts of the body.
9 Kasta met, a ti naliway iti trabahona ket kabsat ti tao nga adu ti madaddadaelna.
Moreover, he that is slothful in his work Is brother to him that is a great waster.
10 Ti nagan ni Yahweh ket kasla natibker a torre; natalged ti tao nga agar-aramid iti nalinteg nga agkamang iti daytoy.
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runneth to it, and is safe.
11 Ti kinabaknang ti nabaknang ket arigna nga isu ti nasarikedkedan a siudadna, ken ti panangipagarupna ket nangato a pader daytoy.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And as a high wall, in his own conceit.
12 Sakbay ti pannakadadaelna, napalangguad ti puso ti maysa a tao, ngem umun-una ti panagpakumbaba sakbay ti pannakaitan-ok.
Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility.
13 Ti tao a sumungbat sakbay a dumngeg-isu ti kinamaag ken pakaibabainanna.
He who answereth a matter before he hath heard it, It is folly and shame to him.
14 Ti espiritu ti maysa a tao ket makalasat iti panagsakit, ngem siasino koma ti makaibtur iti naburak nga espiritu?
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a wounded spirit who can bear?
15 Ti puso ti nalaing ket makagun-od iti pannakaammo, ken ti masirib a tao ket birbirukenna daytoy.
The heart of the intelligent will acquire knowledge, And the ear of the wise will seek knowledge.
16 Ti sagut ti maysa a tao ket mabalin a manglukat iti dalan ken mangipan kenkuana iti sangoanan ti maysa a napateg a tao.
A gift maketh room for a man, And bringeth him into the presence of the great.
17 Kasla pudno ti umuna a mangikalintegan iti kasona agingga a dumteng ti kabusorna a mangpalutpot kenkuana.
He that first pleadeth his cause appeareth just; But his opponent cometh, and searcheth him through.
18 Ti panagbibinnunot ket urnosenna dagiti riri ken pagsisinaenna dagiti agkabusor.
The lot causeth contentions to cease, And parteth asunder the mighty.
19 Ti panagballigim a mangay-ayo iti napasakitan a kabsat ket narigrigat ngem iti panagballigim a mangparmek iti natibker a siudad, ken ti panagapa ket maiyarig kadagiti balunet iti maysa a palasio.
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; Yea, their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 Mapno ti tian ti tao gapu iti bunga ti bibigna; mapnek isuna babaen iti maapit dagiti bibigna.
With the fruit of a man's mouth shall his stomach be filled; He shall be filled with the produce of his lips.
21 Ti patay ken biag ket adda iti pannakabalin ti dila, ken dagiti mangayat iti daytoy ket kanendanto ti bungana.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue; They that love it shall eat its fruit.
22 Ti siasinoman a makabirok iti asawa a babai ket makabirok iti nasayaat a banag ken makaawat iti pabor manipud kenni Yahweh.
He that findeth a wife findeth a blessing, And obtaineth favor from the LORD.
23 Agpakpakaasi ti marigrigat a tao, ngem nagubsang ti panangsungbat ti nabaknang a tao.
The poor useth entreaties; But the rich answereth roughly.
24 Ti mangibagbaga nga adu ti gagayyemna ket maipan iti pannakadadael babaen kadagitoy, ngem adda gayyem a nasingsinged ngem iti maysa a kabsat.
A man of many friends will show himself false; Yet there is a friend who sticketh closer than a brother.
