< Mateo 2 >

1 Kalpasan a naiyanak ni Jesus idiay Betlehem a sakop ti Judea, kadagiti aldaw ni ari Herodes, adda dagiti nakaadal a lallaki a naggapu iti daya a dimteng idiay Jerusalem a kunada,
Now, when, Jesus, was born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, lo! wise men from eastern parts, came into Jerusalem:
2 “Sadino ti ayan ti naiyanak nga Ari dagiti Judio? Nakitami ti bituenna iti daya ket immaykami nga agrukbab kenkuana.”
saying—Where is he that hath been born king of the Jews? for we saw his star in the east, and have come to bow down to him.
3 Idi nangngeg daytoy ni Herodes nga ari, nariribukan isuna, kasta met ti entero a Jerusalem.
But, when King Herod heard, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;
4 Pinaayaban amin ni Herodes dagiti panguloen a papadi ken dagiti eskriba dagiti tattao, ket sinaludsodna kadakuada, “Sadino ti pakaiyanakan ti Cristo?”
and, assembling all the high-priests and scribes of the people, he was enquiring of them—Where is, the Christ, to be born?
5 Imbagada kenkuana, “Idiay Betlehem ti Judea, ta daytoy ti insurat ti profeta,
And, they, said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea, —for, so, is it written through the prophet:
6 'Ket sika, Betlehem, iti daga ti Juda, ket saan a sika ti kanunomoan kadagiti mangidadaulo iti Juda, ta addanto mangiturturay nga agtaudto kenka a mangipastor kadagiti tattaok nga Israel.”
And, thou, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means least, art thou, among the governors of Judah, —For, out of thee, shall one come forth to govern, Who shall shepherd my people Israel.
7 Ket sililimed nga inayaban ni Herodes dagiti nakaadal a lallaki tapno saludsodenna kadakuada no ania ti apag-isu nga oras a nagparang ti bituen.
Then Herod, privately, calling the wise men, ascertained from them the time of the appearing star;
8 Imbaonna ida idiay Betlehem, a kunana, “Mapankayo ket birokenyo a nalaing ti ubing. No mabirokanyo isuna, ipakaammoyo kaniak, tapno umayak met ket agrukbabak kenkuana.”
and sending them to Bethlehem, said—Go search out accurately concerning the child, —and, as soon as ye find it, bring report unto me, that, I also, may come and bow myself down to it.
9 Kalpasan a nangngegda ti ari, intuloyda ti nagdaliasat, ket ti bituen a nakitada iti daya indalanna ida agingga a nagsardeng iti batog ti ayan ti ubing.
Now, they, hearing the king, went, and lo! the star which they had seen in the east, was going before them, until it went and stood over where the child was;
10 Idi nakitada ti bituen, nagragsakda nga addaan iti kasta unay a naindaklan a rag-o.
and, seeing the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy;
11 Simrekda iti balay ket nakitada ti ubing a kaduana ni Maria nga inana. Nagparintumengda ken nagrukbabda kenkuana. Linukatanda dagiti ayan ti agkakapateg a banag a kukuada ket indatonda kenkuana dagiti sagsagut a balitok, insenso ken mirra.
and, coming into the house, they saw the child, with Mary its mother, —and, falling down, prostrated themselves unto it, and, opening their treasures, offered unto it gifts—gold and frankincense and myrrh;
12 Binallaagan ida ti Dios iti tagtagainep a saandan nga agsubli kenni Herodes, isu a pimmanawda nga agturong kadagiti bukodda a pagilian babaen iti sabali a dalan.
and, being instructed by dream, not to return unto Herod, by another way, retired they unto their own country.
13 Kalpasan a pimmanawda, adda anghel ti Apo a nagparang kenni Jose iti tagtagainep a kinunana, “Bumangonka, alaem ti ubing ken ti inana, ket tumaraykayo idiay Egipto. Agtalinaedkayo idiay agingga nga ibagak kenka, ta birukento ni Herodes ti ubing tapno dadaelenna isuna.”
Now, when they had retired, lo! a messenger of the Lord, appeareth by dream unto Joseph, saying, Arise, take unto thee the child and its mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there, until I tell thee, —for Herod is about to seek the child, to destroy it.
14 Iti dayta a rabii, bimmangon ni Jose ket innalana ti ubing ken ti inana ket napanda idiay Egipto.
And, he, arising, took unto him the child and its mother, by night, and retired into Egypt;
15 Nagtalinaed isuna sadiay agingga iti ipapatay ni Herodes. Daytoy ti nakatungpalan ti imbaga ti Apo babaen iti profeta, “Manipud iti Egipto, inawagak ti anakko.”
and was there, until the death of Herod, —that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt, called I my son.
16 Ket ni Herodes, idi nadlawna nga inallilaw isuna dagiti nakaadal a lallaki, nakaunget iti kasta unay. Nangibaon isuna ket impapatayna amin nga ubbing a lallaki nga adda idiay Betlehem, ken iti amin nga adda iti dayta a rehion nga agtawen iti dua nga agpababa, sigun iti apag- isu a tiempo a naammoanna manipud kadagiti nakaadal a lallaki.
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly enraged, —and sent and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its bounds, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had ascertained from the wise men.
17 Ket natungpal no ania iti naisao babaen kenni Jeremias a profeta,
Then was fulfilled, that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
18 “Adda timek a nangngeg idiay Rama, sangsangit ken nakaro a dungdung-aw, agsangsangit ni Raquel para kadagiti annakna, ket agkedked isuna a maliwliwa, gapu ta awandan.
A voice, in Ramah, was heard, weeping and great mourning, —Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, —because they are not.
19 Idi natayen ni Herodes, pagamoan, ket adda nagparang nga anghel ti Apo kenni Jose idiay Egipto iti maysa a tagtagainep ket kinunana,
But, when Herod was, dead, lo! a messenger of the Lord, appeareth by dream unto Joseph in Egypt;
20 “Bumangonka ket alaem ti ubing ken ti inana ket mapankayo idiay daga ti Israel, ta dagiti nagpanggep iti dakes iti biag ti ubing ket nataydan.”
saying—Arise! and take unto thee the child and its mother, and be journeying into the land of Israel, —for they are dead, who were seeking the life of the child.
21 Bimmangon ni Jose, ket innalana ti ubing ken ti inana, ket immay iti daga ti Israel.
And, he, arising, took unto him the child and its mother, and entered into the land of Israel.
22 Ngem idi nangngeganna a ni Arkelao ti mangiturturay iti Judea a kas kasukat ti amana a ni Herodes, nagbuteng isuna a mapan sadiay. Kalpasan a binallaagan ti Dios isuna iti tagtagainep, pimmanaw iti rehion ti Galilea
Hearing, however, that, Archelaus, was reigning over Judaea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid, thither, to go, —and so, being instructed by dream, he retired into the parts of Galilee;
23 ket napan ken nagnaed iti siudad a maawagan iti Nazaret. Daytoy ti nakatungpalan ti naibaga babaen kadagiti profeta, a maawaganto isuna iti Nazareno.
and came and fixed his dwelling in a city called Nazareth, —that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets—A Nazarene, shall he be called.
