1 Ita, imbati ni Yahweh dagitoy a nasion a mangsubok iti Israel, tunggal maysa a saan pay a nakapadas iti uray ania kadagiti gubat a napasamak idiay Canaan
And these are the nations that Jehovah left, to prove Israel by them, all that had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2 (inaramidna daytoy tapno isuro ti pannakigubat kadagiti baro a henerasion dagiti Israelita a saan pay a makaammo idi iti daytoy):
only that the generations of the children of Israel might know war by learning it, at the least those who before had known nothing thereof:
3 dagiti lima nga ari dagiti Filisteo, dagiti amin a Cananeo, dagiti taga-Sidonia, ken dagiti Heveo a nagnaed idiay kabanbantayan ti Lebanon, manipud Bantay Baal Hermon agingga iti Bessang Hamat.
five lord ships of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwell on mount Lebanon; from mount Baal-Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
4 Nabati dagitoy a nasion a kas pangsubok ni Yahweh iti Israel, tapno patalgedanna no agtulnogda met laeng kadagiti bilin nga intedna kadagiti kapuonanda babaen kenni Moises.
And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commandments of Jehovah, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
5 Nagnaed ngarud dagiti tattao ti Israel a kaduada dagiti Cananeo, dagiti Heteo, dagiti Amorreo, dagiti Perezzeo, dagiti Heveo, ken dagiti Jebuseo.
And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites: Hittites and Amorites and Perizzites and Hivites and Jebusites;
6 Innalada dagiti annakda a babbai tapno agbalin nga assawada, ken intedda dagiti bukodda nga annak a babbai kadagiti annakda a lallaki, ket nagserbida kadagiti diosda.
and they took their daughters as wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
7 Inaramid dagiti tattao ti Israel ti dakes iti imatang ni Yahweh ken linipatda ni Yahweh a Diosda. Nagdayawda kadagiti Baal ken Asera.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and forgot Jehovah their God, and served the Baals and the Asherahs.
8 Ngarud, simged ti unget ni Yahweh iti Israel, ket inlakona ida iti ima ni Cusa Risathaim nga ari ti Aram Naharaim. Nagserbi dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Cusa Risataim iti las-ud ti walo a tawen.
And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
9 Idi immawag dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Yahweh, nangisaad ni Yahweh iti maysa a tao nga umay mangtulong kadagiti tattao ti Israel, ken mangispal kadakuada: ni Otniel nga anak ni Kenaz (adingen ni Caleb).
And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah; and Jehovah raised up a saviour to the children of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
10 Pinapigsa isuna iti Espiritu ni Yahweh, ket nagbalin isuna nga ukom iti Israel ket napan nakigubat isuna. Inted ni Yahweh kenkuana ti panagballigi kenni Cusan Risataim nga ari ti Aram. Ti pannakabalin ni Otniel ti nangparmek kenni Cusan Rasataim.
And the Spirit of Jehovah was upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Jehovah gave Chushan-rishathaim king of Syria into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim.
11 Naaddan iti kappia ti daga iti las-ud ti uppat a pulo a tawen. Kalpasanna, natay ni Otniel nga anak ni Kenaz.
And the land had rest forty years; and Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12 Nagsukir manen dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Yahweh babaen iti panangar-aramidda kadagiti dakes a banbanag, ket nakitana ti inaramidda. Isu a pinabileg ni Yahweh ni Eglon nga ari ti Moab idi rinautna ti Israel, gapu ta nagaramid ti Israel kadagiti dakes a banbanag, ken nakita ni Yahweh ida.
And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; and Jehovah strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they did evil in the sight of Jehovah.
13 Kimmadua ni Eglon kadagiti Ammonita ken Amalekita ket napanda ken pinarmekda ti Israel, ket tinagikuada ti Siudad dagiti Palma.
And he gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek and went and smote Israel, and they took possession of the city of palm-trees.
14 Nagserbi dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Eglon nga ari ti Moab iti las-ud iti sangapulo ket walo a tawen.
And the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15 Ngem idi immawag dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Yahweh, nangisaad ni Yahweh iti maysa a tao a tumulong kadakuada, ni Ehud nga anak ni Gera, maysa a lalaki manipud iti tribu ti Benjamin, ken maysa a lalaki a kattigid. Imbaon isuna dagiti tattao ti Israel nga awitna ti bayadda a buis kenni Eglon nga ari ti Moab.
And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah, and Jehovah raised them up a saviour, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjaminite, a man left-handed. And by him the children of Israel sent a gift to Eglon king of Moab.
16 Nangaramid ni Ehud iti kampilanna a dua ti tademna, maysa a kubiko ti kaatiddugna; intalina daytoy iti akin-kannawan a luppona iti uneg ti pagan-anayna.
And Ehud made him a sword having two edges, it was of a cubit length; and he girded it under his raiment upon his right hip.
17 Intedna ti bayad a buis kenni Ari Eglon ti Moab. (Ni Eglon ket maysa a nalukmeg a tao.)
And he brought the gift to Eglon king of Moab; now Eglon was a very fat man.
18 Kalpasan a naidatag ni Ehud ti buis a bayad kenni Eglon, pimmanaw isuna a kaduana dagiti nangiyuneg iti daytoy.
And it came to pass when he had ended offering the gift, he sent away the people that had borne the gift.
19 Nupay kasta, idi nadanon ni Ehud ti lugar a pagaramidan kadagiti nakitikitan nga imahe iti asideg ti Gilgal, timmalikud isuna ket nagsubli, ken kinunana, “Adda iti palimed a mensahek kenka, o arik.” Kinuna ni Eglon, “Talna!” Isu pimmanaw iti siled dagiti amin nga agserserbi kenkuana.
But he turned from the graven images that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret word unto thee, O king. And he said, Be silent! And all that stood by him went out from him.
20 Napan ni Ehud kenkuana. Agtugtugaw idi ti ari nga agmaymaysa iti kinalamiis iti akin-ngato a siled. Kinuna ni Ehud, “Adda iti mensahek para kenka manipud iti Dios.” Timmakder ti ari manipud iti tugawna.
And Ehud came to him; now he was sitting in the cool upper-chamber, which was for him alone. And Ehud said, I have a word from God unto thee. And he arose from the seat.
21 Innala ni Ehud ti kampilanna babaen iti kannigid nga imana manipud iti makin-kannawan a luppona, ket induyokna daytoy iti bagi ti ari.
Then Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from his right hip, and thrust it into his belly;
22 Ket simrek pay ti putan ti kampilan kalpasan iti tademna, simmalput ti murdongna iti bukotna, ket tininep iti kinalukmegna ti tadem, ta saan nga inuksot ni Ehud ti kampilan manipud iti bagina.
and the haft also went in after the blade, and the fat closed upon the blade; for he did not draw the sword out of his belly, and it came out between the legs.
23 Kalpasanna, rimuar ni Ehud iti bangsal ket inrekepna dagiti ruangan iti akin-ngato a siled iti likudanna sana inkandado dagitoy.
And Ehud went out into the portico, and shut the doors of the upper-chamber upon him, and bolted them.
24 Idi nakapanaw ni Ehud, immay dagiti adipen ti ari; nakitada a nakakandado dagiti ruangan ti akin-ngato a siled, isu nga impagarupda, “Pudno nga agin-inana isuna iti kinalamiis iti akin-ngato a siled.”
And when he was gone out, the servants of the [king] came and saw, and behold, the doors of the upper-chamber were bolted. And they said, Surely he is covering his feet in the summer chamber.
25 Ad-adda a naseknanda agingga a nariknada a nabaybay-anda ti pagrebbenganda idi saan latta a linukatan ti ari dagiti ruangan ti akin-ngato a siled. Isu nga innalada ti tulbek ket linukatanda dagitoy, ket adda sadiay ti amoda a napasag iti suelo a natayen.
And they waited till they were ashamed; and behold, he opened not the doors of the upper-chamber, and they took the key, and opened [them], and behold, their lord lay dead on the earth.
26 Kabayatan nga agur-uray dagiti adipen, nga agpanpanunot no ania ti rumbeng nga aramidenda, naglibas ni Ehud ket limmabas iti lugar nga addaan kadagiti nakitikitan a ladawan dagiti didiosen, ket naglibas ngarud isuna a nagturong iti Seira.
And Ehud had escaped while they lingered, and passed beyond the graven images, and escaped to Seirah.
27 Idi simmangpet isuna, pinagunina ti trumpeta idiay katurturodan a pagilian ti Efraim. Kalpasanna, kimmuyog kenkuana dagiti tattao ti Israel a sumalog manipud kadagiti turod, ket indadauloanna ida.
And it came to pass when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill-country, and he before them.
28 Kinunana kadakuada, “Surotendak, ta dandanin parmeken ni Yahweh dagiti kabusoryo a Moabita.” Simmurotda kenkuana ket nasakupda dagiti pagballasiwan ti Jordan a batog dagiti Moabita, ket saanda nga impalubos a makaballasiw ti siasinoman iti karayan.
And he said to them, Follow after me, for Jehovah has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of the Jordan toward Moab, and suffered no one to pass over.
29 Iti dayta a tiempo, napapatayda ti agarup sangapulo ribu a lallaki ti Moab, amin ket napigsa ken makabael a lallaki. Awan ti uray maysa a nakalibas.
And they slew the Moabites at that time, about ten thousand men, all fat, and all men of valour, and not a man escaped.
30 Isu nga iti dayta nga aldaw, naparmek ti Moab babaen iti bileg ti Israel. Ket naginana ti daga iti las-ud ti walo-pulo a tawen.
And Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest eighty years.
31 Kalpasan ni Ehud, ti simmaruno nga ukom ket ni Samgar nga anak ni Anat, a nangpatay iti innem a gasut a lallaki ti Filistia babaen iti kayo a pagabug kadagiti baka. Inispalna pay ti Israel manipud iti peggad.
And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath; and he smote the Philistines, six hundred men, with an ox-goad. And he also delivered Israel.
