1 Simmalog ni Samsom idiay Timna, ket sadiay, nakitana ti maysa a babai, maysa kadagiti annak dagiti Filisteo.
And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 Idi nagawid isuna, imbagana iti ama ken inana, “Nakitak ti maysa a babai idiay Timna, maysa kadagiti annak a babbai dagiti Filisteo. Ita, alaenyo isuna para kaniak tapno agbalin nga asawak.”
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
3 Ngem kinuna ti ama ken inana kenkuana, “Awan kadi ti babai kadagiti annak dagiti kabagiam, wenno kadagiti amin a tattaotayo? Mangalaka kadi iti asawaem manipud kadagiti saan a nakugit a Filisteo?” Kinuna ni Samson iti amana, “Alaem isuna para kaniak, ta tunggal makitak isuna, maay-ayoak kenkuana.”
Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleases me well.
4 Ngem saan nga ammo ti ama ken inana a nagtaud kenni Yahweh daytoy a banag, ta kayatna a mangparnuay iti riri kadagiti Filisteo (ta dagiti Filisteo ti mangiturturay iti Israel iti dayta a tiempo).
But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
5 Kalpasanna, kadua ni Samson ti ama ken inana a simmalog idiay Timna, ket nakagtengda kadagiti kaubasan ti Timna. Ket rimmuar sadiay ti maysa a bumaro a leon nga agngerngernger kenkuana.
Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
6 Immay a dagus kenkuana ti Espiritu ni Yahweh, ket rinangrangkayna ti leon a kas kalaka iti panangrangkayna iti bassit a kalding, ket awan ti iggemna. Ngem saanna nga imbaga iti ama wenno inana ti inaramidna.
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
7 Napanna kinasarita ti babai, ket idi kinitana ti babai, naay-ayo ni Samson kenkuana.
And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
8 Kalpasan ti sumagmamano nga aldaw idi nagsubli ni Samson tapno asawaenna isuna, simmiasi isuna tapno kitaenna ti bangkay ti leon. Ket adda maysa a pangen dagiti ayukan ken diro iti nabatbati a bagi ti leon.
And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.
9 Inakuyna ti diro babaen kadagiti imana ket mangmangan bayat a magmagna. Idi nakagteng iti ayan ti ama ken iti inana, intedna ti dadduma kadagitoy, ket nanganda. Ngem saanna nga imbaga nga innalana ti diro iti nabatbati a bagi ti leon.
And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.
10 Simmalog ti ama ni Samson iti ayan ti babai, ket nagparambak ni Samson sadiay, ta daytoy ti kaugalian dagiti agtutubo a lallaki.
So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
11 Apaman a nakita dagiti kabagian ti babai isuna, nangiyegda kenkuana iti tallopulo a gagayyemda a mangkadua kenkuana.
And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 Kinuna ni Samson kadakuada, “Adda burburtiak kadakayo. No adda kadakayo ti makaibaga kaniak iti sungbat daytoy kabayatan ti pito nga aldaw iti panagrambak, mangtedakto iti tallopulo a lino a kagay ken tallopulo a pagan-anay.”
And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if all of you can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
13 Ngem no saanyo a maibaga kaniak ti sungbat, ket ikkandakto iti tallopulo a lino a kagay ken tallopulo a pagan-anay.” Kinunada kenkuana, “Ibagam kadakami ti burburtiam, tapno mangngegmi daytoy.”
But if all of you cannot declare it me, then shall all of you give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.
14 Kinunana kadakuada, “Manipud iti mangmangan, adda maysa a banag a makan; manipud iti napigsa, adda maysa a banag a nasam-it.” Ngem saan a napugtoan dagiti sangailina ti sungbat iti las-ud ti tallo nga aldaw.
And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
15 Iti maika-uppat nga aldaw, kinunada iti asawa ni Samson, “Sikapam ti asawam tapno ibagana kadakami ti sungbat ti burburtia, ta no saan puorandaka ken ti balay ti amam. Inawisdakami kadi ditoy tapno papanglawendakami?”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: have all of you called us to take that we have? is it not so?
16 Ket rinugian ti asawa ni Samson ti agsangit iti sangoananna: kinunana, “Kagurguranak! Saannak nga ay-ayaten. Nangibagaka iti maysa a burburtia iti sumagmamano kadagiti tattaok, ngem saanmo nga imbaga kaniak ti sungbatna.” Kinuna ni Samson kenkuana, “Kitaem, no saanko nga imbaga iti ama wenno iti inak, rumberng kadi nga ibagak kenka?”
And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, You do but hate me, and love me not: you have put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and have not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it you?
17 Nagsangsangit isuna kabayatan ti pito nga aldaw a kabayag ti panagrambakda. Iti maikapito nga aldaw, imbaga ni Samson ti sungbat iti asawana gapu ta kasta unay ti panangpilitna kenkuana. Imbaga ti asawana ti sungbat kadagiti kabagian dagiti tattaona.
And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
18 Ket kinuna dagiti lallaki iti siudad kenni Samson iti maikapito nga aldaw sakbay a lumnek ti init, “Ania ti nasamsam-it ngem iti diro? Ania ti napigpigsa ngem ti leon?” Kinuna ni Samson kadakuada, “No saanyo a pinagarado ti bakak, saanyo koma a naammoan ti sungbat iti burburtiak.”
And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If all of you had not plowed with my heifer, all of you had not found out my riddle.
19 Ket kellaat nga immay kenni Samson ti pannakabalin ti Espiritu ni Yahweh. Simmalog ni Samson idiay Askelon ket pinatayna ti tallopulo a lallaki kadagiti tattao. Innalana ti nasamsamda, ket intedna dagiti pagan-anay kadagiti nakasungbat iti burburtiana. Kasta unay ti ungetna ket simmang-at isuna iti balay ti amana.
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.
20 Ket naited ti asawana iti nasinged a gayyemna.
But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
