1 Napaayaban dagiti lallaki iti Efraim; limmasatda iti Safon ket kinunada kenni Jefte, “Apay a limmasatka a makiranget kadagiti tattao ti Ammon ket saannakami nga inayaban a kumuyog kenka? Iramandaka iti balaymo a puoran.”
And the men of Ephraim are called together, and pass over northward, and say to Jephthah, “Why have you passed over to fight against the sons of Ammon, and have not called on us to go with you? We burn your house with fire over you.”
2 Kinuna ni Jefte kadakuada, “Siak ken dagiti tattaok ket adda nakaro a saanmi a pagkikinnaawatan kadagiti tattao ti Ammon. Idi immawagak kadakayo, saandak nga inispal manipud kadakuada.
And Jephthah says to them, “I have been a man of great strife (I and my people) with the sons of Ammon, and I call you, and you have not saved me out of their hand,
3 Idi nakitak a saandak nga ispalen, impustak ti biagko ket rinautko dagiti tattao ti Ammon, ket pinagballiginak ni Yahweh. Apay nga immaykayo tapno makiranget kaniak ita nga aldaw?”
and I see that you are not a savior, and I put my life in my hand, and pass over to the sons of Ammon, and YHWH gives them into my hand—and why have you come up to me this day to fight against me?”
4 Inummong ni Jefte dagiti amin a lallaki iti Galaad ket kinarangetna ti Efraim. Rinaut dagiti lallaki iti Galaad dagiti lallaki iti Efraim gapu ta kinunada, “Dakayo a taga-Galaad ket dagiti naglibas nga aglemlemmeng iti Efraim-iti Efraim ken Manases.”
And Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fights with Ephraim, and the men of Gilead strike Ephraim, because they said, “You Gileadites [are] fugitives of Ephraim, in the midst of Ephraim—in the midst of Manasseh.”
5 Sinakup dagiti taga-Galaad dagiti pagballasiwan iti Jordan nga agturong iti Efraim. Ket no adda siasinoman kadagiti nakalasat iti Efraim ti agkuna, “Palubosandak a bumallasiw iti karayan,” ibaga dagiti lallaki iti Galaad kenkuana, “Taga-Efraim ka kadi? No kunana a, “Saan,”
And Gilead captures the passages of the Jordan to Ephraim, and it has been, when [any of] the fugitives of Ephraim say, “Let me pass over,” and the men of Gilead say to him, “[Are] you an Ephraimite?” And he says, “No”;
6 ket ibagada kenkuana, “Ibalikasmo ti: Shibbolet.” Ket no kunana a “Sibboleth” (ta saanna a maibalikas nga usto ti sao), tiliwen ken papatayen dagiti taga-Galaad isuna idiay pagballasiwan iti Jordan. Uppat a pulo ket dua a ribu a taga-Efraim ti napapatay iti dayta a tiempo.
that they say to him, “Now say, Shibboleth”; and he says, “Sibboleth,” and is not prepared to speak right—and they seize him, and slaughter him at the passages of the Jordan, and there fall at that time, of Ephraim, forty-two chiefs.
7 Nagserbi ni Jefte a kas ukom iti Israel iti innem a tawen. Kalpasanna, natay ni Jefte a taga-Galaad ket naitanem iti maysa kadagiti siudad iti Galaad.
And Jephthah judged Israel [for] six years, and Jephthah the Gileadite dies, and is buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.
8 Idi natay isuna, simmukat kenkuana ni Ibzan a taga Betlehem a nagserbi a kas ukom iti entero nga Israel.
And after him Ibzan of Beth-Lehem judges Israel,
9 Adda tallopulo a putotna a lallaki. Impaasawana dagiti tallopulo a putotna a babbai, ken nangala isuna manipud iti ruar iti tallopulo a putot a babbai dagiti dadduma a lallaki nga agpaay kadagiti putotna a lallaki. Nagbalin isuna nga ukom iti Israel iti pito a tawen.
and he has thirty sons, and thirty daughters he gave away [in marriage], and thirty daughters he brought in from outside for his sons; and he judges Israel [for] seven years.
10 Natay ni Ibzan ket naitanem idiay Betlehem.
And Ibzan dies, and is buried in Beth-Lehem.
11 Simmukat kenkuana ni Elon a taga-Zabulon a nagserbi a kas ukom iti entero nga Israel. Nagbalin isuna nga ukom ti Israel iti sangapulo a tawen.
And after him Elon the Zebulunite judges Israel, and he judges Israel [for] ten years,
12 Natay ni Elon a Zabulonita ket naitanem idiay Aijalon, iti daga ti Zabulon.
and Elon the Zebulunite dies, and is buried in Aijalon, in the land of Zebulun.
13 Simmukat kenkuana ni Abdon a putot ni Hillel a taga-Piraton a nagserbi a kas ukom iti entero nga Israel.
And after him, Abdon son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, judges Israel,
14 Adda uppat a pulo a putotna a lallaki ken tallopulo nga appoko a lallaki. Nakasakayda iti pitopulo nga asno, ket nagbalin isuna nga ukom iti Israel iti walo a tawen.
and he has forty sons, and thirty grandsons, riding on seventy donkey-colts, and he judges Israel [for] eight years.
15 Natay ni Abdon a putot ni Hillel a taga-Piraton ket naitanem idiay Piraton iti daga ti Efraim, iti katurturodan a pagilian dagiti Amalekita.
And Abdon son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, dies, and is buried in Pirathon, in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekite.
