1 Kalpasan iti ipapatay ni Josue, nagsaludsod dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Yahweh a kunada, “Siasino ti mangidaulo kadakami inton sumang-atkami a makiranget kadagiti Cananeo?”
Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first to fight against them?
2 Kinuna ni Yahweh, “Ti Juda ti mangidaulo kadakayo. Kitaenyo, intedko kadakuada ti panangituray iti daytoy a daga.”
And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
3 Kinuna dagiti lallaki ti Juda kadagiti lallaki ti Simeon a kakabsatda, “Kaduaandakami a sumang-at a mapan iti teritoriomi a naited kadakami, tapno sangsangkamaysatayo a makiranget kadagiti Cananeo. Ket kaduaandakayonto met a mapan iti teritorio a naited kadakayo.” Kinaduaan ngarud ida iti tribu ti Simeon.
And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
4 Simmang-at dagiti lallaki ti Juda, ket inted ni Yahweh kadakuada ti panagballigi kadagiti Cananeo ken Perezeo. Pinatayda ti sangapulo a ribu kadakuada idiay Besec.
And Judah went up, and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Nasarakanda ni Adonibesek idiay Besec, ket nakirangetda kenkuana ken pinarmekda dagiti Cananeo ken dagiti Perezeo.
And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
6 Ngem naglibas ni Adonibezek, ket kinamat ken tiniliwda isuna, ket pinutedda dagiti tangan ti imana ken dagiti dadakkel a ramay ti sakana.
But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
7 Kinuna ni Adonibezek, “Pito-pulo nga ari a naputed dagiti tangan ti ima ken dagiti dadakkel a ramay ti sakana ti nagurnong iti taraonda manipud iti sirok ti lamisaanko. Kas iti inaramidko, kasta met ti inaramid ti Dios kaniak.” Impanda isuna idiay Jerusalem, ket natay isuna sadiay.
And Adoni-bezek said, seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their food] under my table; as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
8 Nakiranget dagiti lallaki ti Juda iti siudad ti Jerusalem ket nasakupda daytoy. Rinautda daytoy babaen iti tadem ti kampilan ket pinuoranda ti siudad.
(Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.)
9 Kalpasan dayta, simmalog dagiti lallaki ti Juda tapno makiranget kadagiti Cananeo a nagnanaed iti katurturodan a pagilian, idiay Negeb, ken iti akin-laud a sakaanan dagiti turod.
And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites that dwelt on the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
10 Rinaut ti Juda dagiti Cananeo a nagnaed idiay Hebron (ti nagan idi ti Hebron ket Kiriat-Arba), ket pinarmekda da Sesai, Ahiman, ken Talmai.
And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjath-arba: ) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
11 Manipud sadiay, rinaut dagiti lallaki ti Juda dagiti agnanaed iti Debir (ti nagan idi ti Debir ket Kiriat Sefer).
And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before [was] Kirjath-sepher:
12 Kinuna ni Caleb, “Ti siasinoman a mangraut iti Kiriat Sefer ket masakupna daytoy, itedko kenkuana ni Acsa nga anakko, nga agbalin nga asawana.”
And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter for a wife.
13 Nasakup ni Otniel nga anak ni Kenaz (ading ni Caleb) ti Debir, isu nga inted ni Caleb kenkuana ni Acsa nga anakna, tapno agbalin nga asawana.
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.
14 Iti saan a nagbayag, napan ni Acsa kenni Otniel, ket ginuyugoyna isuna a dawatenna iti amana nga ikkanna isuna iti talon. Idi bumabbaba isuna manipud iti asnona, sinaludsod isuna ni Caleb, “Ania ti mabalinko nga aramiden para kenka?”
And it came to pass, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off [her] ass; and Caleb said to her, What wilt thou?
15 Kinuna ni Acsa kenkuana, “Ikkannak iti maysa a bendision. Agsipud ta pinagnaednak iti daga ti Negeb, ikkannak met kadagiti ubbog ti danum.” Inted ngarud ni Caleb kenkuana dagiti akin-ngato ken akin-baba nga ubbog.
And she said to him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
16 Simmang-at dagiti kaputotan ti katugangan ni Moises a Kineo manipud iti Siudad dagiti Palma a kaduada dagiti tattao ti Juda, idiay let-ang ti Juda, nga adda idiay Negeb, tapno makipagnaedda kadagiti tattao ti Juda iti asideg ti Arad.
And the children of the Kenite, Moses's father-in-law, went up out of the city of palm-trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which [lieth] in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.
17 Ket kimmuyog dagiti lallaki ti Juda kadagiti lallaki ti Simeon a kakabsatda ket rinautda dagiti Cananeo nga agnanaed idiay Zefat ket dinadaelda a naan-anay daytoy. Ti siudad ket napanaganan iti Hormah.
And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
18 Nasakup pay dagiti tattao ti Juda ti Gaza ken ti daga iti aglawlaw daytoy, ti Askelon ken ti daga nga adda iti aglawlaw daytoy, ken ti Ekron ken ti daga iti aglawlaw daytoy.
Also Judah took Gaza with its border, and Askelon with its border, and Ekron with its border.
19 Adda idi ni Yahweh kadagiti tattao ti Juda ket tinagikuada ti katurturodan a pagilian, ngem saanda a mapapanaw dagiti agnanaed kadagiti kapatadan gapu ta addaanda kadagiti landok a karwahe.
And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out [the inhabitants of] the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
20 Naited ti Hebron kenni Caleb (kas iti imbaga ni Moises), ket pinapanawna sadiay dagiti tallo a putot a lallaki ni Anak.
And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.
21 Ngem saan a pinapanaw dagiti tattao ti Benjamin dagiti Jebuseo a nagnaed idiay Jerusalem. Isu a nakipagnaed dagiti Jebuseo kadagiti tattao ti Benjamin idiay Jerusalem agingga iti daytoy nga aldaw.
And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
22 Nagsagana ti balay ni Jose a mangraut iti Betel, ket adda ni Yahweh kadakuada.
And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Beth-el: and the LORD [was] with them.
23 Nangibaonda kadagiti lallaki nga ag-espia iti Betel (ti siudad a sigud a maawagan iti Luz).
And the house of Joseph sent to explore Beth-el. Now the name of the city before [was] Luz.
24 Nakakita dagiti espia iti maysa a lalaki a rumrumuar manipud iti siudad, ket kinunada kenkuana, “Pangngaasim ta isurom kadakami no kasano ti makaserrek iti siudad, ket agtignaykaminto a siaasi kenka.”
And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.
25 Insurona kadakuada ti maysa a dalan a sumrek iti siudad. Ket rinautda ti siudad babaen iti tadem ti kampilan, ngem pinalubosanda a makapanaw ti lalaki ken ti pamiliana.
And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword: but they let go the man and all his family.
26 Ket napan ti lalaki iti daga dagiti Heteo ket nangibangon isuna iti siudad ket inawaganna daytoy iti Luz, nga isu ti naganna agingga iti daytoy nga aldaw.
And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name of it Luz: which [is] its name to this day.
27 Saan a pinapanaw dagiti tattao ti Manasses dagiti tattao nga agnanaed kadagiti siudad ti Bet San ken kadagiti bariona daytoy, wenno Tanaac ken kadagiti bariona, wenno dagiti nagnaed idiay Dor ken kadagiti bario daytoy, wenno dagiti nagnaed idiay Ibleam ken kadagiti bario daytoy, wenno dagiti nagnaed idiay Megiddo ken kadagiti bario daytoy, gapu ta naregget dagiti Cananeo nga agnaed iti dayta a daga.
Neither did Manasseh expel [the inhabitants of] Beth-shean and its towns, nor Tanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
28 Idi bimmileg ti Israel, pinilitda dagiti Cananeo nga agserbi kadakuada iti narigat a panagtrabaho, ngem pulos a saanda ida a naan-anay a pinapanaw.
And it came to pass when Israel was strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly expel them.
29 Saan a pinapanaw ti Ephraim dagiti Cananeo a nagnaed idiay Gezer, isu a nagtultuloy a nakipagnaed kadakuada dagiti Cananeo idiay Gezer.
Neither did Ephraim expel the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 Saan a pinapanaw ti Zabulun dagiti tattao nga agnanaed idiay Kitron, wenno dagiti tattao nga agnanaed idiay Nahalol, ket isu a nagtultuloy a nakipagnaed kadakuada dagiti Cananeo, ngem pinilit ti Zabulun nga agserbi kadakuada dagiti Cananeo babaen iti nakaro a panagtrabaho.
Neither did Zebulun expel the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 Saan a pinapanaw ti Aser dagiti tattao nga agnanaed idiay Acco, wenno dagiti tattao nga agnanaed idiay Sidon, wenno dagiti agnanaed idiay Ahlab, Aczib, Helba, Afik, wenno Rehob.
Neither did Asher expel the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:
32 Isu a nakipagnaed ti tribu ti Aser kadagiti Cananeo (dagiti nagnaed iti daga), gapu ta saanda ida a pinapanaw.
But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not expel them.
33 Saan a pinapanaw iti tribu ti Neftali dagiti tattao nga agnanaed idiay Bet Semes, wenno dagiti agnanaed idiay Bet Anat. Isu a nakipagnaed ti tribu ti Neftali kadagiti Cananeo (dagiti tattao a nagnanaed idi iti dayta a daga). Nupay kasta, napilit dagiti agnanaed iti Bet-semes ken Bet Anat iti narigat a panagtrabaho para iti Neftali.
Neither did Naphtali expel the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless, the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributaries to them.
34 Pinilit dagiti Amorreo ti tribu ti Dan nga agnaed iti katurturodan a pagilian, a saanda intulok a sumalogda iti patad.
And the Amorites forced the children of Dan to the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:
35 Nagnaed ngarud dagiti Amorreo idiay Bantay Heres, idiay Aijalon ken idiay Saalbim, ngem pinarmek ida iti bileg ti soldado iti balay ni Jose, ket napilitanda nga agserbi kadakuada babaen iti nakaro a panagtrabaho.
But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Ajalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.
36 Ti beddeng dagiti Amorreo ket aglayon manipud iti turod ti Akrabim idiay Sela a sumang-at agingga iti katurturodan a pagilian.
And the border of the Amorites [was] from the ascent to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
