< Josue 22 >
1 Iti dayta a tiempo, inayaban ni Josue dagiti Rubenita, Gadita, ken ti kagudua a tribu ti Manases.
Joshua then summoned the leaders of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of the tribe of Manasseh.
2 Kinunana kadakuada, “Inaramidyo amin a banag nga imbilin kadakayo ni Moises nga adipen ni Yahweh; nagtulnogkayo iti timekko iti amin nga imbilinko kadakayo.
He said to them, “You have done everything that Moses, who served Yahweh [well], told you to do. You have also done what I told you to do.
3 Saanyo a pinanawan dagiti kakabsatyo kabayatan iti aniaman kadagitoy adu nga aldaw wenno iti daytoy agdama nga aldaw. Ngem ketdi, nagbalinkayo a naannad nga agtulnog kadagiti annuroten dagiti bilbilin ni Yahweh a Diosyo.
For a long time you have helped the other tribes [to defeat their enemies]. You have obeyed everything that Yahweh your God commanded you to do.
4 Ita, inted ni Yahweh a Dios ti inana kadagiti kakabsatyo a kas iti inkarina kadakuada. Agsublikayo ngarud ket mapankayo kadagiti toldayo iti daga a kukuayo nga inted ni Moises nga adipen ni Yahweh kadakayo iti ballasiw ti Jordan.
He promised to give peace to us Israelis, and he has done what he promised. So now you may go back to your homes, to the land that Moses gave to you, on the east side of the Jordan [River].
5 Agbalinkayo laeng a naannad a mangtungpal kadagiti bilin ken iti linteg nga imbilin kadakayo ni Moises nga adipen ni Yahweh, nga ayatenyo ni Yahweh a Diosyo, a magnakayo kadagiti amin a wagasna, a salimetmetanyo dagiti bilbilinna, ken kumpetkayo kenkuana, ken agdayawkayo kenkuana iti amin a pusoyo ken iti amin a kararuayo.”
Moses also commanded you to love Yahweh your God and to obey his commands, and to continue to worship him and serve him by everything that you think and everything that you do.”
6 Binendisionan ngarud ida ni Josue ken pinagawidna ida, ket nagsublida kadagiti toldada.
Then Joshua blessed them and said goodbye to them, and they [prepared to] leave and return to their homes [on the east side of the Jordan River].
7 Ita, iti kagudua a tribu ti Manases, inikkan ida ni Moises iti tawid idiay Basan, ngem iti maysa pay a kagudua, inikkan ida ni Josue iti tawid iti abay dagiti kakabsatda iti daga nga adda iti laud ti Jordan. Pinaawid ni Josue ida kadagiti toldada; binendisionanna ida
Moses had given the Bashan region to half the tribe of Manasseh, and land on the west side of the Jordan [River] to the other half of the tribe. Before they left, he [asked God to] bless them.
8 ken kinunana kadakuada, “Agsublikayo kadagiti toldayo nga addaan iti adu a kuarta, ken addaan iti adu unay nga ayup, ken addaan iti pirak ken balitok, ken addaan iti gambang ken landok, ken addaan iti adu unay a pagan-anay. Ibingayonyo dagiti kakabsatyo iti sinamsamyo kadagiti kabusoryo.”
He said, “Go back to your homes and to all the things that you have taken from your enemies—the many animals and silver and gold and [things made of] bronze and iron, and many beautiful clothes. But you should share some of those things with other people of your tribe.”
9 Isu a nagsubli dagiti kaputotan ni Ruben, dagiti kaputotan ni Gad, ken ti kagudua a tribu ni Manases iti pagtaenganda, pinanawanda dagiti tattao ti Israel idiay Silo nga adda iti daga ti Canaan. Pimmanawda tapno mapanda iti rehion ti Galaad, iti bukodda a daga nga isuda a mismo ti nangtagikua a kas panagtulnogda iti bilin ni Yahweh, babaen iti ima ni Moises.
So the people of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh left the other Israelis at Shiloh in Canaan land, to return to their homes in the Gilead region. That was the area that belonged to them. It had been allotted to them by Moses as Yahweh had commanded.
10 Idi dimtengda idiay Jordan nga adda iti daga ti Canaan, nangipatakder dagiti Rubenita, dagiti Gadita, ken ti kagudua a tribu ti Manases iti dakkel unay ken makitkita nga altar iti abay ti Jordan.
The people from those three tribes arrived near the western side of the Jordan River, at a town called Geliloth. There they built a large altar. [Then they crossed the Jordan River to the Gilead region].
11 Nangngeg dagiti tattao ti Israel ti maipanggep iti daytoy ket kinunada, “Kitaenyo! Nangipatakder iti altar dagiti tattao ti Ruben, Gad, ken ti kagudua a tribu ti Manases iti sangoanan ti daga ti Canaan, idiay Gelilot, iti rehion nga asideg ti Jordan, iti paset a kukua dagiti tattao ti Israel.”
But the other Israelis who were still at Shiloh heard about the altar that those men had built.
12 Idi nangngeg dagiti tattao ti Israel daytoy, naguummong a nagmaymaysa ti entero a taripnong dagiti tattao ti Israel idiay Silo tapno sumang-atda a mapan makigubat kadakuada.
They became very angry with the men of those tribes, so they decided to fight them.
13 Nangibaon ngarud dagiti tattao ti Israel kadagiti mensahero a mapan kadagiti Rubenita, kadagiti Gadita, ken iti kagudua a tribu ti Manases iti daga ti Galaad. Imbaonda met ni Finees nga anak ni Eleazar a padi,
The Israelis sent Phinehas, who was the son of Eleazar the Supreme Priest, to [talk with] the people of those three tribes.
14 ken kaduana ti sangapulo a mangidadaulo, maysa manipud kadagiti tunggal kapuonan dagiti pamilia ti Israel, ken tunggal maysa kadakuada ket isu ti panguloen ti tunggal puli kadagiti tattao ti Israel.
They also sent one leader from each of the ten tribes that were still at Shiloh. Each of them was a leader of his clan.
15 Napanda kadagiti tattao ti Ruben, Gad, ken iti kagudua a tribu ti Manases, iti daga ti Galaad, ket insaoda kadakuada:
Those leaders went to the Gilead region to talk to the people of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh. They said,
16 “Ibagbaga ti entero a taripnong ni Yahweh daytoy, 'Ania daytoy a panaglabsing nga inaramidyo iti Dios ti Israel, babaen iti isisinayo iti daytoy nga aldaw iti panangsurotyo kenni Yahweh babaen iti panangipatakderyo para kadagiti bagbagiyo iti altar iti daytoy nga aldaw a kas panagrebeldeyo kenni Yahweh?
“All the other Israelis are asking, ‘Why have you rebelled against the God whom we Israelis [worship] by building an altar for yourselves?
17 Saan kadi nga umanay kadatayo ti basoltayo idiay Peor? Nupay kasta ket saantayo pay a dinalusan dagiti bagbagitayo manipud iti daytoy. Ta gapu iti dayta a basol ket immay ti didigra iti taripnong ni Yahweh.
Have you forgotten what happened at Peor, [when some Israelis sinned by worshiping the god that the Moab people-group worship]? Many Israelis became very sick and died because of that sin, and we are still suffering because of their sin.
18 Masapul met kadi a suminakayo manipud iti panangsurotyo kenni Yahweh iti daytoy agdama nga aldaw? No agrebeldekayo met kenni Yahweh ita nga aldaw, makaungetto isuna iti entero a taripnong ti Israel inton bigat.
Are you now turning away from obeying Yahweh and refusing to do what he wants? If you do not stop rebelling against Yahweh today, he will be angry with all of us Israelis tomorrow.’
19 No natulawan ti daga a kukuayo, rumbeng ngarud nga umakarkayo iti daga a nakaisaadan ti tabernakulo ni Yahweh ken mangalakayo kadakami iti sanikua para kadagiti bagbagiyo. Saankayo laeng nga agrebelde kenni Yahweh, wenno agrebelde kadakami babaen iti panangipatakderyo iti altar para kadagiti bagbagiyo malaksid iti altar ni Yahweh a Diostayo.
“If [you think that Yahweh considers] that your land here is not suitable for worshiping him, come back to our land where Yahweh’s Sacred Tent is. We can share our land with you. But do not rebel against Yahweh and against us by building another altar for Yahweh our God.
20 Saan kadi a nalabsing ni Acan nga anak ni Zera ti pammati maipapan kadagidiay a banbanag a nailasin para iti Dios? Ken saan kadi a nagdisso ti pungtot iti amin a tattao ti Israel? Saan laeng a dayta a tao ti natay gapu iti basolna.'”
Do you remember what happened when Zerah’s son Achan refused to obey [Yahweh’s command to destroy everything in Jericho]? That one man disobeyed God’s command, but many [HYP] other Israelis were punished. Achan died because of his sin, but other Israelis also died.”
21 Ket simmungbat dagiti tribu ti Ruben, Gad ken ti kagudua a tribu ti Manases kadagiti mangidadaulo kadagiti puli ti Israel:
The [leaders of the] tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh replied,
22 “Ti Mannakabalin a Dios, a ni Yahweh! Ti Mannakabalin a Dios, a ni Yahweh! — Ammona, ket maammoan koma a mismo ti Israel! No daytoy ket panagrebelde wenno panangsalungasing iti pammati a maibusor kenni Yahweh, saannakami nga ispalen ita nga aldaw
“Yahweh, the Almighty God, knows [why we did that], and we want you to know, too. If we have done something wrong [against Yahweh], you may kill us.
23 gapu iti panangipatakdermi iti altar tapno suminakami iti panangsurotmi kenni Yahweh. No impatakdermi dayta nga altar tapno pagidatonan kadagiti daton a mapuoran, daton a bukbukel, wenno daton a pakikappia, ket bay-anyo a dusaennakami ni Yahweh gapu iti daytoy.
If we have disobeyed one of Yahweh’s laws, we request that he should punish us. We did not build that new altar to completely burn animals as sacrifices to Yahweh, or to offer on it sacrifices of grain or sacrifices to maintain fellowship with God.
24 Saan! Inaramidmi daytoy gapu iti buteng nga iti tiempo nga umay amangan no kunaento dagiti annakyo kadagiti annakmi, 'Ania ti bibiangyo kenni Yahweh a Dios ti Israel?
“This is the reason that we built that altar: We were afraid/worried that some day your descendants would say that our descendants are not true Israelis. We were afraid that then they would say, ‘You are not allowed to worship Yahweh, the God whom we Israelis [worship].
25 Ta inaramid ni Yahweh a beddeng ti Jordan iti nagbaetantayo. Dakayo a tattao ti Ruben ken Gad, awan ti bibiangyo kenni Yahweh.' Iti kasta ket amangan no pasardengento dagiti annakyo dagiti annakmi nga agdayaw kenni Yahweh.
Yahweh caused the Jordan River to be a boundary between us and you people of the tribes of Reuben and Gad. So you are not allowed to worship Yahweh.’ We were worried that your descendants would force our descendants to stop worshiping Yahweh.
26 Isu a kinunami, 'Mangipatakdertayo ita iti altar, saan a gapu kadagiti daton a mapuoran wenno gapu iti aniaman a daton,
“That is the reason that we decided to build that [new] altar. But it is not an altar for completely burning sacrifices of animals and [burning other] sacrifices.
27 ngem tapno agbalin a saksi iti nagbaetantayo ken iti nagbaetan dagiti henerasion a sumaruno kadatayo, nga aramidenmi ti panagserbi kenni Yahweh iti sangoananna, babaen kadagiti datonmi a mapuoran ken kadagiti sakrifisiomi ken kadagiti datonmi a pakikappia, tapno saanto pulos nga ibaga dagiti annakyo kadagiti annakmi iti tiempo nga umay, “Awan iti bingayyo kenni Yahweh.'”
We built that new altar to prove/show to you and to us and to all of our descendants that we worship Yahweh by completely burning animal sacrifices and offerings of grain and offerings to maintain fellowship with Yahweh [only at the place Yahweh chooses]. We do not want your descendants to say to our descendants, ‘You do not belong to Yahweh.’
28 Isu a kinunami, 'No daytoy ti rumbengto a maibaga kadakami wenno kadagiti kaputotanmi iti tiempo nga umay, ibagaminto, “Kitaenyo! Daytoy ket kaasping ti altar ni Yahweh nga inaramid dagiti kapuonanmi, saan a gapu kadagiti daton a mapuoran, saan a gapu kadagiti sakrifisio, ngem kas saksi iti nagbaetantayo.”
“In the future, if your descendants say that, our descendants can say, ‘Look at the altar that our ancestors made! It is exactly like Yahweh’s altar [that our ancestors built], but we do not burn sacrifices on it. It only shows that we are Israelis!’
29 Adayo koma kadakami a rumbeng nga agrebeldekami kenni Yahweh ken sumina ita nga aldaw iti panangsurotmi kenkuana babaen iti panangipatakdermi iti altar para iti daton a mapuoran, para iti daton a bukbukel, wenno para iti sakrifisio, laksid iti altar ni Yahweh a Diostayo nga adda iti sangoanan ti tabernakulona.'”
We certainly do not want to rebel against Yahweh or stop doing what he desires, by building an altar for completely burning some sacrifices and burning grain offerings and making [other] sacrifices. [We know that] there is only one true altar for Yahweh our God, and it is in front of the Sacred Tent [at Shiloh].”
30 Idi nangngeg ni Finees a padi ken dagiti kakaduana a mangidadaulo kadagiti tattao, a dagiti met laeng panguloen dagiti puli ti Israel, dagiti sasao nga imbaga dagiti tattao ti Ruben, Gad, ken Manases, nasayaat daytoy iti panagkitada.
When Phinehas the priest and the other [ten] leaders heard what they said, they were pleased.
31 Kinuna ni Finees nga anak ni Eleazar a padi kadagiti tattao ti Ruben, Gad, ken Manases, “Ammomin ita nga aldaw nga adda ni Yahweh kadatayo gapu ta saanyo nga inaramid daytoy a panangsalungasing iti pammati a maibusor kenkuana. Ita, inispalyo dagiti tattao ti Israel manipud iti ima ni Yahweh.”
So Phinehas said to them, “Now we know that Yahweh is with all of us Israelis, and that you were not rebelling against him [when you built that altar]. And we know that Yahweh will not punish us Israelis [because of your having done that].”
32 Ket manipud iti daga ti Galaad nga ayan dagiti Rubenita ken Gadita, nagsubli da Finees nga anak ni Eleazar a padi ken dagiti mangidadaulo iti daga ti Canaan, kadagiti tattao ti Israel, ken nangyegda iti sungbat kadakuada.
Then Phinehas and the Israeli leaders left the people of the tribes of Reuben and Gad in the Gilead region, and returned to Canaan. There they told the other Israelis what had happened.
33 Nasayaat ti impadamagda iti panagkita dagiti tattao ti Israel. Nagdaydayaw dagiti tattao ti Israel ti Dios ken saandan a nagsao pay iti maipanggep iti pannakigubatda kadagiti Rubenita ken kadagiti Gadita tapno dadaelenda ti daga a pagnanaedanda.
They were pleased, and they thanked God. And they did not talk any more about fighting against the people of the tribes of Reuben and Gad and destroying everything in their land.
34 Pinanaganan dagiti Rubenita ken Gadita ti altar iti “Saksi,” ta kinunada, “Saksi daytoy iti nagbaetantayo a ni Yahweh ket Dios.
The people of the tribes of Reuben and Gad named their new altar ‘A reminder to us all that Yahweh is God’.
