< Job 5 >

1 Umawagka ita; adda kadi ti sumungbat kenka? Siasino kadagiti nasantoan ti pagkamangam?
Do but call: is there one that will answer thee? and to whom of the saints wilt thou turn thyself?
2 Ta papatayen ti unget ti nakuneng a tao; patayen ti panagimon ti maag.
For vexation will prove death to a foolish man, and jealousy will slay the simple.
3 Nakakitaak iti nakuneng a tao nga agramramot. Ngem kella-at nga inlunodko ti pagtaenganna.
I have myself seen the foolish taking root; but I suddenly held his habitation as accursed.
4 Adayo iti kinatalged dagiti annakna; narumekda idiay ruangan ti siudad. Awan iti mangispal kadakuada—
His children are far from help, and men crush them in the gate, with no one to deliver them.
5 dagiti apitda ket kinnan dagiti dadduma a mabisbisin, tattao a mangala iti daytoy uray manipud kadagiti siit; dagiti tattao a ti kinabaknangda ket inibus dagiti tattao a mawaw iti daytoy.
[He it is] whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber snatcheth eagerly after their substance.
6 Ta saan nga agtaud iti daga dagiti panagrigat; uray pay ti riribuk ket saan nga agrusing manipud iti daga;
For wrong doth not come forth out of the dust, neither doth trouble grow up out of the ground;
7 ngem ar-aramiden ti tao ti bukodna a pakariribukan, a kasla dagiti gilap a tumayab nga agpangato.
But man is born unto trouble, as young birds take up their flight.
8 Ngem no maipapan kaniak, mapanak iti Dios a mismo; italekko kenkuana ti kasasaadko—
I, however, would have besought God, and unto God would I have committed my cause;
9 isuna nga agar-aramid ti naindaklan ken saan a matukod a banbanag, dagiti nakakaskasdaaw a banbanag a saan a mabilang.
Who doth great things which are unsearchable, marvelous things till they are without number;
10 Mangmangted isuna iti tudo iti rabaw ti daga, ken mangibulos iti danum kadagiti taltalon.
Who giveth rain upon the surface of the earth, and sendeth out waters over the face of the fields;
11 Ar-aramidenna daytoy tapno ingatona dagiti nababa; tapno ibangonna iti kinatalged dagiti agladladingit kadagiti dapo.
To set up the lowly on high, that those who mourn may rise high to happiness;
12 Upayenna ti panggep dagiti nasikap a tattao, tapno saan a maipatungpal dagiti imada dagiti panggepda.
[But] who frustrateth the plans of the crafty, so that their hands cannot execute their well-devised counsel;
13 Siloanna dagiti nasirib a tattao babaen iti bukodda a kinasikap; dagiti panggep dagiti nasirib a tattao ket agpatinggan iti mabiit.
Who catcheth the wise in their own craftiness; and the advise of the perverse is hastened on headlong;
14 Makisinnarakda iti kinasipnget iti aldaw, ken agar-arikapda iti katengngaan ti aldaw a kasla rabii daytoy.
By day they meet with darkness, and as though it were night they grope about in the noon of day;
15 Ngem isalakanna dagiti nakurapay a tattao manipud iti kampilan nga adda kadagiti ngiwatda ken ti agkasapulan a tao manipud iti ima dagiti nabileg a tattao.
But who saveth from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty, the needy one:
16 Isu nga adda ti namnama ti nakurapay a tao, ken iserra ti kinaawan ti linteg ti ngiwatna.
And so cometh to the indigent hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17 Kitaem, naragsak ti tao a tubtubngaren ti Dios; ngarud, saanmo a guraen ti pannusa ti Mannakabalin amin.
Behold, happy is the man whom God admonisheth: despise then not the correction of the Almighty.
18 Ta mangsugat ket kalpasanna baredbedanna; mangsugat isuna ket kalpasanna agasan dagiti imana.
For he it is that woundeth, and bindeth up: he smiteth, and his hands do heal.
19 Ispalennakanto manipud kadagiti innem a pakariribukan; pudno, kadagiti pito a pakariribukan, awanto ti dakes a mangsagid kenka.
In six distresses will he deliver thee; and in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20 Iti nakaro a panagbisin, ispalennakanto manipud iti patay; iti gubat manipud iti pannakabalin ti kampilan.
In famine he redeemeth thee from death; and in war from the power of the sword.
21 Mailemmengkanto manipud iti pannakasaplit iti dila; ket saankanto a mabuteng iti pannakadadael inton umay daytoy.
Against the scourge of the tongue shall thou he hidden; and thou needest not be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22 Katawaamto ti pannakadadael ken panagbisin, ket saankanto a mabuteng kadagiti narungsot nga ayup.
At destruction and famine canst thou laugh; and thou needest not have any fear of the beasts of the earth.
23 Ta makitulagkanto kadagiti bato ti taltalonmo; natalgedkanto kadagiti narungsot nga ayup.
For with the stones of the field shalt thou have thy covenant; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24 Ammomto a ti toldam ket adda iti kinatalged; sarungkaramto dagiti arbanmo ket awan ti makitam a napukaw.
And thou shalt know that there is peace in thy tent; and thou wilt look over thy habitation, and shalt miss nothing.
25 Ammomto pay a ti panagrang-aymo ket kasta unay, a dagiti kaputotam ket kaslanto iti ruot iti daga.
And thou shalt know that thy seed is numerous, and thy offspring as the herbage of the earth.
26 Maitanemkanto inton lakayka unayen, a kasla iti dawa ti bukel a maibagkat a maipan iti pagirikan.
Thon wilt go in a ripe age unto the grave, as a shock of corn is carried home in its season.
27 Kitaem, inadalmi daytoy a banag; kastoy daytoy; denggem daytoy, ket ammoem daytoy iti bagim.”
Behold this, we have searched it out, so it is: hear it, and do thou note it well for thyself.
