< Job 21 >
1 Ket simmungbat ni Job ket kinunana,
Then answered Job, and said,
2 “Dinggenyo a nasayaat ti sasaok, ket agbalin koma daytoy a liwliwayo.
Hear, O hear my speech, and let this be wherewith you give consolations.
3 Palubosandak, ket agsaoak met; kalpasan ti panagsaok, ituloyyo ti pananglaisyo kaniak.
Bear with me that I may indeed speak: and after my speaking, then canst thou mock.
4 Maipapan kaniak, agrirririak kadi iti tao? Apay koma nga awan ti kalintegak a saan a makaanus?
As for me, —is against man my complaint? and if this be so, why should my spirit not be impatient?
5 Kitaendak ket agsiddaawkayo, ken iyapputyo dayta imayo iti ngiwatyo.
Turn yourselves unto me, and be astounded, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 No panpanunotek dagiti panagsagsagabak, mariribukanak, ket agbuteng dagiti lasagko.
Yea, when I think of it, I am terrified, and shuddering seizeth hold of my flesh.
7 Apay nga agtultuloy nga agbibiag dagiti nadangkes a tattao, a lumakay, ken bumilbileg iti pannakabalin?
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, grow strong in power?
8 Agtalinaed dagiti kaputotanda kadakuada kadagiti imatangda, ken agtalinaed dagiti kaputotanda kadagiti matmatada.
Their seed is firmly established in their presence with them. their offspring are before their eyes.
9 Natalged dagiti babbalayda manipud iti buteng; awan ti baot ti Dios kadakuada.
Their houses are at peace without any dread, and no rod of God [cometh] over them.
10 Agputot dagiti bulog a bakada; saan nga agkurang a mangaramid iti daytoy; mangipasngay dagiti bakada ket saanda a maalisan.
The bull of each one gendereth, and disappointeth not: the cow of each one calveth, and casteth not her young.
11 Paruarenda dagiti annakda a kas iti arban, ket agsala dagiti annakda.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children skip about [with joy].
12 Agkantada a mabuyugan iti pandereta ken arpa ken agragsakda babaen iti aweng ti plauta.
They sing to the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
13 Busbusenda dagiti al-aldawda iti kinarang-ay, ket siuulimekda a bumaba iti sheol. (Sheol )
They wear out their days in happiness, and in a moment they go down to the nether world. (Sheol )
14 Ibagada iti Dios, 'Panawandakami ta saanmi a tarigagayan iti aniaman a pannakaammo kadagiti wagwagasmo.
And yet they say unto God, “Depart from us; and the knowledge of thy ways we desire not.
15 Ania aya iti Mannakabalin amin, a rumbeng a dayawenmi isuna? Ania iti pagimbagan a maalami no agkararagkami kenkuana?'
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit shall we have, if we entreat him urgently?”
16 Kitaenyo, saan kadi ng adda kadagiti bukodda nga ima ti kinarang-ay? Awan ti pakainagiak iti pammagbaga dagiti nadangkes a tattao.
Lo, not in their hand doth their happiness rest! The counsel of the wicked be [still] far from me.
17 Kasano kadaras ti pannakaiddep ti pagsilawan dagiti nadangkes a tattao, wenno ti pannakadidigrada? Mamin-ano aya a mapasamak nga iwaras ti Dios dagiti ladingit kadakuada iti pungtotna?
How often is the lamp of the wicked quenched? and how often cometh over them their calamity? and doth [God] distribute their lot in his anger?
18 Mamin-ano ti panagbalinda a kas iti garami iti sangoanan ti angin wenno kas iti taep nga itay-tayab ti bagio?
Are they as straw before the wind, and as chaff which the stealeth away?
19 Kunayo, 'Ikabkabil ti Dios ti biddut ti maysa a tao kadagiti annakna tapno isuda ti mangbayad.' Bay-am a supapakanna daytoy iti bukodna, tapno maammoanna ti nagbasolanna.
Should God lay up for his children his wrong-doing? it were better that he reward him, that he might know it himself.
20 Bay-am a makita dagiti matana ti bukodna a pakadadaelan, ken bay-am nga inumenna ti pungtot ti Mannakabalin amin.
His own eyes ought to see his downfall, and from the wrath of the Almighty ought he to drink.
21 Ta ania ti bibiangna iti pamiliana kalpasan kenkuana inton naputeden dagiti bilang dagiti bulbulanna?
For what care hath he for his household after him, when the number of his months is all apportioned to him?
22 Adda kadi ti makaisuro iti pannakaammo ti Dios agsipud ta uk-ukomenna uray dagiti nangangato?
Is this fitting God, who teacheth knowledge? him who judgeth those that are highest?
23 Matay ti maysa a tao iti pigsana, a siuulimek ken sinanam-ay.
That this one dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;
24 Napno ti bagina iti gatas, ken ti pata dagiti tultulangna ket nabasa ken nasalun-at.
His vessels being full of healthy fluid, and the marrow of his bones being well moistened:
25 Matay ti sabali pay a tao iti kinasaem ti kararua, ti saan a pulos a nakapadas iti aniaman a kinaimbag.
While this other dieth with an embittered soul, and hath never partaken of any happiness;
26 Agpadada nga agidda iti tapok; agpadada nga iggesen.
[And yet] together they must lie down in the dust, and the worms will cover them?
27 Kitaenyo, ammok dagiti panpanunotenyo, ken dagiti wagas a tartarigagayanyo tapno padaksendak.
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the opinions which ye wrongfully devise against me.
28 Ta imbagayo, 'Sadino ita ti balay ti prinsipe? Sadino ti tolda a naminsan a naggianan ti nadangkes?'
For ye say, Where is the house of the noble-minded? and where is the tent of the dwelling-places of the wicked?
29 Saanyo pay kadi a pulos a sinaludsod dagiti agdaldaliasat a tattao? Saanyo kadi nga ammo ti pammaneknek nga ibagbagada,
Have ye not asked the wayfarers? surely their token ye cannot disregard,
30 a ti nadangkes a tao ket maiyadayo iti aldaw ti didigra, ken maipanaw isuna iti aldaw ti pungtot?
That the bad man is reserved for the day of calamity, [that the wicked] are carried forward to the day of wrath.
31 Siasino ti mangukomto iti dalan ti nadangkes a tao iti rupana? Siasino ti mangsupapak kenkuana gapu iti inaramidna?
[But] who will tell him to his face of his way? and who will repay him what he hath done?
32 Nupay kasta maipanto isuna iti tanem; kankanayonto a bantayan dagiti tattao ti tanemna.
Yea he will indeed be carried to the grave, and men will quickly think of his monument:
33 Nasam-itto kenkuana dagiti bingbingkol ti tanap; sumurotto dagiti amin a tattao kenkuana, adda ti saan a mabilang a tattao iti sangoananna.
Sweet are to him the clods of the valley; and after him succeedeth every man, as those that were before him are without number.
34 Kasano ngarud a liwliwaendak babaen iti awan kaes-eskanna, agsipud ta awan serserbi dagiti sungbatyo no diket kinapalso?”
How then will ye comfort me with vanity? and of your answers there remaineth only deception.
