< Job 20 >

1 Ket simmungbat ni Zofar a Naamatita ket kinunana,
Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
2 “Pasungbatennak a dagus dagiti kapanunotak gapu iti pakadanagan nga adda kaniak.
“I'm forced to reply because I'm really upset!
3 Nakangngegak kenka iti panagtubngar a nangibabain kaniak, ngem sinungbatannak ti espiritu a nangatngato ngem iti pannakaawatko.
What I hear you say insults me, but I know how to reply to you!
4 Saanmo kadi nga ammo daytoy a kinapudno manipud idi un-unana a panawen, idi inkabil ti Dios ti tao iti daga:
Don't you know that since ancient times, since human beings were put on this earth,
5 ti panagballigi ti nadangkes a tao ket ababa, ken ti rag-o ti awan diosna a tao ket apagbiit laeng?
that the triumph of the wicked doesn't last long, that those who reject God are only happy for a short time?
6 Uray no dumanon ti kinatayagna kadagiti langlangit, ken tumukno ti ulona kadagiti ulep,
Even though they are so tall they reach the heavens, even though their heads reach the clouds,
7 ngem mapukawto ti kasta a tao iti agnanayon a kas iti bukodna a takki; ibaganto dagiti nakakita kenkuana, 'Sadino ti ayanna?'
they will vanish forever like their own excrement. People who knew them will ask, ‘Where have they gone?’
8 Tumayabto isuna a kasla tagtagainep ket saanto a masarakan; kinapudnona, mapukawto isuna a kasla iti sirmata iti rabii.
They will vanish like a dream, never to be found, fleeing like a vision of the night.
9 Ti mata a nakakita kenkuana ket saannanton a makita pay isuna; saanton a makita pay isuna ti lugarna.
Those who once saw them will not see them anymore; their families will never set eyes on them again.
10 Agkiddawto iti pammakawan dagiti annakna kadagiti nakurapay a tattao; isublinto dagiti imana ti kinabaknangna.
Their children will have to pay back the poor; they will have to return their wealth.
11 Napno iti pigsa ti kinaagtutubo dagiti tultulangna, ngem kaduananto daytoy nga agidda iti tapok.
Though the wicked have bodies that are young and strong, they will die and be buried.
12 Uray no nasam-it ti kinadangkes iti ngiwatna, uray no ilemmengna dagitoy iti sirok ti dilana,
Though evil tastes sweet in their mouths and they hide it under their tongues,
13 uray no tenglenna dagitoy sadiay ken saanna a palubosan ngem idulinna latta iti ngiwatna—
not letting it go but keeping it in their mouths,
14 agbalin a napait ti taraon nga adda kadagiti bagisna; agbalin daytoy a sabidong dagiti uleg iti unegna.
in their stomachs it turns bitter, becoming like snake venom inside them.
15 Alun-onenna dagiti kinabaknang, ngem isaruananto manen dagitoy; Ikkatento ti Dios dagitoy iti tianna.
They swallow wealth and vomit it up again; God forces it from their stomachs.
16 Susupennanto ti sabidong dagiti uleg; patayento isuna ti dila ti uleg.
They suck in snake venom; the bite of the viper will kill them.
17 Saanto isuna nga agbiag tapno ragsakenna a kitaen dagiti karayan ken dagiti waig nga agay-ayus iti diro ken mantikilia.
They will not live to enjoy the streams, the rivers of milk and honey.
18 Aniaman a nagbannoganna, masapul nga isublinanto dagitoy; saannanto a tilmonen daytoy; saanto nga agrag-o isuna iti kinabaknang a nagun-odna.
They will have to give back what they have gained and will not have any benefit; they will not enjoy any of their profits.
19 Ta indadanes ken inlaksidna dagiti nakurapay a tattao; siraranggas nga innalana dagiti babbalay a saanna nga impatakder.
For they have oppressed and abandoned the poor; they have seized houses they did not build.
20 Gapu ta saanna nga ammo ti pannakapnek iti bagina, saanto a makaidulin isuna iti aniaman a banag a pakaragsakanna.
Because their greed was never satisfied, nothing they liked is left that they didn't consume.
21 Awan pulos iti nabati a saanna nga inalun-on; ngarud, saanto nga agnanayon ti kinarang-ayna.
Nothing escapes their ravenous appetites, so their happiness doesn't last long.
22 Iti kinaaglaplapusanan ti kinabaknangna, matnagto isuna iti pakariribukan; umayto kenkuana ti ima ti tunggal maysa a napanglaw.
Even when the wicked have all that they want they run into trouble; all kinds of misery will fall upon them.
23 No dandaninan punoen ti tianna, ipalladawto ti Dios ti narungsot a pungtotna kenkuana; patudoento ti Dios daytoy kenkuana kabayatan a mangmangan isuna.
While they are busy filling their bellies, God's hostility will burn against them, raining down on them.
24 Uray no maitarayanto dayta a tao ti igam a landok, ti bai a bronse ti mangpana kenkuana.
As they flee to escape an iron weapon, a bronze arrow will strike them down.
25 Tudokento ti pana ti likodanna ket rummuarto; kinapudnona, sumalpotto ti nasileng a murdong iti dalemna; umayto kenkuana dagiti kabutbuteng.
The arrow is pulled out of their gall bladder, glistening with blood. They are absolutely terrified!
26 Naan-anay a kinasipnget ti nakasagana para kadagiti gamgamengna; ti apuy a saan a napuyotan ti manguramto kenkuana; ibusento ti apuy dagiti nabati iti toldana.
All they value will disappear into the darkness; divine fire will destroy them; all they have left will go up in smoke.
27 Iparangto dagiti langit ti kinadakesna, ken tumakderto ti daga a kas saksi a maibusor kenkuana.
The heavens reveal what they have done wrong; the earth will rise up against them.
28 Mapukawto ti kinabaknang iti balayna; maiyanudto dagiti sanikuana iti aldaw ti pungtot ti Dios.
All their possessions will be carried from their homes; they will be dragged off on the day of God's judgment.
29 Daytoy ti bingay ti nadangkes a tao manipud iti Dios, ti tawid nga insagana ti Dios a para kenkuana.”
This is the share the wicked receive from God, the inheritance God says they should have.”
