< Job 2 >

1 Ket napasamak manen nga iti aldaw idi napan dagiti annak a lallaki ti Dios tapno iparangda dagiti bagbagida iti sangoanan ni Yahweh, simmurot met ni Satanas kadakuada tapno iparangna ti bagina iti sangoanan ni Yahweh.
Again, on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan came also amongst them to present himself before the LORD.
2 Kinuna ni Yahweh kenni Satanas, “Sadino ti naggapuam?” Simmungbat ni Satanas kenni Yahweh ket kinunana, “Manipud iti panagsursursor iti rabaw ti daga, ken manipud iti panagpagnapagna nga agsubli-subli iti rabaw daytoy.”
The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the LORD, and said, “From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
3 Kinuna ni Yahweh kenni Satanas, “Nakitam kadi ni Job nga adipenko? Ta awan iti kas kenkuana idiay daga, awan pakababalawanna ken nalinteg a tao, addaan iti panagbuteng iti Dios ken taltallikudanna ti kinadakes. Salsalimetmetanna pay laeng ti kinapudnona, uray no ginuyugoynak nga agtignay a maibusor kenkuana, tapno dadaelek isuna nga awan gapgapuna.”
The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”
4 Simmungbat ni Satanas kenni Yahweh ket kinunana, “Kudil iti kudil, pudno; itedto ti tao iti amin nga adda kenkuana para iti biagna,
Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.
5 Ngem iyunnatmo ta imam ita ket sagidem dagiti tulangna ken ti bagina, ket iparupananto kenka ti panangilunodna kenka.”
But stretch out your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.”
6 Kinuna ni Yahweh kenni Satanas, “Kitaem, adda isuna kadagita imam; saanmo laeng nga al-alaen ti biagna.”
The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.”
7 Pimmanaw ngarud ni Satanas manipud iti sangoanan ni Yahweh ket pinarigatna ni Job babaen kadagiti nakaro a litteg manipud iti dapanna agingga iti rabaw ti ulona.
So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head.
8 Nangala ni Job iti buong ti banga nga inkarusna iti bagina, ken nagtugaw isuna kadigiti dapo.
He took for himself a potsherd to scrape himself with, and he sat amongst the ashes.
9 Ket kinuna ti asawana kenkuana, “Salimetmetam pay kadi ti kinapudnom? Ilunodmo ti Dios ket mataykan.”
Then his wife said to him, “Do you still maintain your integrity? Renounce God, and die.”
10 Ngem kinunana kenkuana, “Agsasaoka a kas iti maag a babai. Pudno kadi a panpanunotem a nasken nga umawattayo iti nasayaat iti ima ti Dios ket saan iti dakes?” Iti amin daytoy a banag, saan a nagbasol Job babaen kadagiti bibigna.
But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job didn’t sin with his lips.
11 Ita, idi nangngeg dagiti tallo a gagayyem ni Job ti amin a dakes a dimteng kenkuana, naggapu ti tunggal maysa kadakuada iti bukodda a lugar: Ni Elifaz a Temanita, ni Bildad a Shuhita, ken ni Zofar a Naamatita. Nangitudingda iti tiempo a mapan makipagladingit kenkuana ken tapno liwliwaenda isuna.
Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come on him, they each came from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathise with him and to comfort him.
12 Idi intannawagda dagiti matada iti adayo pay bassit, dandani saanda a mabigbig isuna; nagpukkawda ken nagsangitda; rinay-ab ti tunggal maysa ti kagayna ken nagipuruakda iti tapok iti angin ken iti uloda.
When they lifted up their eyes from a distance, and didn’t recognise him, they raised their voices, and wept; and they each tore his robe, and sprinkled dust on their heads towards the sky.
13 Nakitugawda ngarud kenkuana iti daga iti pito nga aldaw ken pito a rabii, ken awan ti nakisasao kenkuana, gapu ta nakitada a nakaro unay ti panagladingitna.
So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.
