< Jeremias 34 >

1 Daytoy ti sao nga immay kenni Jeremias a naggapu kenni Yahweh. Immay daytoy a sao idi madama a gubgubaten ni Nebucadnesar nga ari ti Babilonia ken amin dagiti armadana, a kadduana dagiti amin a pagarian iti daga, dagiti pagarian nga iturturayanna, ken amin dagiti tattaoda, ti Jerusalem ken amin a siudad daytoy. Kastoy ti ibagbagana,
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came with the armies of all the kingdoms that he ruled, and they fought against Jerusalem and the other towns [in Judah]. At that time, Yahweh gave me this message:
2 'Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh a Dios ti Israel: Mapanmo ibaga kenni Zedekias nga ari ti Juda ket kunam kenkuana, “Kastoy ti ibagbaga ni Yahweh: Kitaem, dandanikon iyawat daytoy a siudad iti ima ti ari ti Babilonia. Puorananto daytoy. Saankanto a makalibas manipud iti imana, ta matiliwka ken maiyawatkanto iti imana.
“Go to Zedekiah the King of Judah, and say to him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God whom we Israelis [worship], says: “I am about to enable the army of the King of Babylon to capture this city, and they will burn it down.
3 Makitanto dagiti matam dagiti mata ti ari ti Babilonia; makisaonto a mismo kenka inton mapanka idiay Babilonia.'
You will not escape from them; they will capture you and take you to the king of Babylon. And [then] they will take you to Babylon.”’
4 Dumngegka iti sao ni Yahweh, Zedekias nga ari ti Juda! Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh maipanggep kenka, 'Saankanto a matay babaen iti kampilan.
But King Zedekiah, listen to this that Yahweh has promised: ‘You will not be killed in a battle [MTY];
5 Mataykanto a sikakappia. Kas iti panangpuorda iti insenso iti punpon dagiti kapuonam, dagiti immun-una nga ar-ari ngem sika, puorandanto ti bangkaymo. Kunadanto, “Asika pay apo!” Dung-awandakanto. Imbagakon - daytoy ti pakaammo ni Yahweh.”
you will die peacefully. [When you die], people will burn incense to honor/remember you just as they did for your ancestors who were kings before you became king. They will mourn for you, crying, “We are very sad that our king is dead!” I, Yahweh, promise that will happen.’”
6 Impakaamo ngarud ni Jeremias a profeta kenni Zedekias nga ari ti Juda amin dagitoy a sasao idiay Jerusalem.
[So] I took that message to King Zedekiah.
7 Ginubat ti armada ti ari ti Babilonia ti Jerusalem ken dagiti amin a siudad ti Juda: ti Lacis ken Azeka. Dagitoy a siduad ti Juda ket nagtalinaed a nasarikedkedan a siudad.
At that time the army of Babylonia had surrounded Jerusalem and Lachish and Azekah. Those [three] cities were the only cities in Judah that had high walls around them that still had not been captured.
8 Daytoy ti sao nga immay kenni Jeremias manipud kenni Yahweh kalpasan a nakitulag ni Ari Zedekias kadagiti amin a tattao idiay Jerusalem nga iwaragawagna ti pannakawayawaya:
King Zedekiah had decreed that the people must free their slaves.
9 Masapul a wayawayaan ti tunggal maysa ti adipenna nga Israelita, lalaki ken babai. Masapul nga awanen ti siasinoman a mangtagabu iti padana nga Israelita iti Juda.
[He decreed that] the people must free their Hebrew slaves, [both the] men slaves and the women [slaves]. No one would be allowed to force a fellow Jew to [continue to] be his slave.
10 Nagtungpal ngarud amin dagiti mangidadaulo ken tattao a nakipagmaymaysa iti tulag. Tunggal maysa ket wayawayaanna ti lalaki ken babai nga addipenna ket saanda idan a tagabuen pay. Impangagda ket pinalubosanda dagitoy a pumanaw.
The officials and the rest of the people had obeyed [what the king decreed],
11 Ngem kalpasan daytoy, nagbaliw ti panunotda. Pinilitda ida nga agbalin manen a tagabu.
but later they changed their minds. They forced the men and women whom they had freed to become their slaves again.
12 Immay ngarud ti sao ni Yahweh kenni Jeremias a kunana,
[So] Yahweh gave me this message [to tell to them]:
13 “Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh a Dios ti Israel, 'Siak a mismo ket nakitulag kadagiti kapuonanyo iti aldaw nga inruarko ida manipud iti daga ti Egipto, manipud iti lugar ti pannakatagabu. Dayta ket idi imbagak,
“I, Yahweh, the God whom you Israelis [say you belong to], (made an agreement with/gave this command to) your ancestors [long ago], when I rescued them from being slaves in Egypt.
14 “Iti panagleppas ti tunggal pito a tawen, tunggal maysa ket masapul a palubosanna ti kabsatna, a padana a Hebreo a nangilako iti bagina kadakayo ken nagserbi kadakayo iti las-ud ti innem a tawen. Wayawayaanyo isuna.” Ngem saandak nga impangag wenno inkaskaso dagiti kapuonanyo.
I told them that they must free all their Hebrew slaves after the slaves had worked for them for six years. But your ancestors did not pay any attention to what I said.
15 Ita, nagbabawikayo, ket inrugiyo nga aramiden no ania ti makay-ayo iti imatangko. Nangwayawayakayo, tunggal maysa iti karrubana. Ket nangpasingkedkayo iti maysa a tulag iti sangoanak, iti balay a pakaaw-awagan ti naganko.
Recently, you obeyed my command and stopped doing what was wrong and did what was right. You made a solemn agreement at my temple [that you would free your slaves], and [then] you freed them.
16 Ngem kalpasanna, timmalikudkayo ken minulitanyo ti naganko; pinasubliyo iti tunggal maysa ti adipenna a babai ken lalaki, isuda dagitoy dagiti pinalubosanyo a mapan iti sadinnoman a kayatda. Pinilityo ida nga agbalin a tagabuyo manen.
But now you have disregarded what you solemnly promised, and you have shown contempt for what I [MTY] said by taking back the women and men whom you had freed and said they could live wherever they wanted to. [Now] you have forced them to be your slaves again.
17 Gapu iti daytoy, kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh, 'Dakayo a mismo ket saandak nga impangag. Rumbeng koma nga impatungpalyo ti panangwayawaya, tunggal maysa kadakayo, kadagiti kakabsatyo ken kadagiti padayo nga Israelita. Dumngegkayo! Ipatungpalko kadakayo ti pannakawayawaya - daytoy ket pakaammo ni Yahweh - pannakawayawaya a maipaay iti pannakadusa babaen iti kampilan, iti didigra, iti panagbisin, ta pagbalinenkayo a nakabutbuteng a banag iti imatang ti tunggal pagarian iti rabaw ti daga.
Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh, say: ‘Because you have not obeyed me by freeing your fellow Israelis, I will free you to [be destroyed by] the swords [of your enemies] and by famines and diseases. All the nations of the earth will be horrified because of [what happens to] you.
18 Ket iyawatkonto dagiti tattao a nangsalungasing iti tulagko, a saan a nangtungpal kadagiti sao ti tulag a pinasingkedanda iti sangaonak idi nangguduada iti baka ken nagnada iti nagbaetan dagiti paset dagitoy,
Because you have disregarded what I said in my agreement with you, I will do to you just like you did to the calves that you cut in half to show that you would surely do what you solemnly promised that you would do. I will [enable your enemies to] cut you into pieces, you officials of Judah and you officials of Jerusalem, and you officials in the palace, and you priests and all you common people. I will do that because you have disregarded what you solemnly promised [about freeing your slaves].
19 ket kalpasanna, dagiti mangidadaulo iti Juda ken Jerusalem, dagiti eunoko ken dagiti papadi, ken amin dagiti tattao iti daga ket nagna iti nagbaetan dagiti paset ti baka.
20 Iyawatkonto ida iti ima dagiti kabusorda, ken kadagiti mangayat a mangkettel iti biagda. Dagiti bagida ket agbalinto a taraon dagiti billit iti tangatang ken dagiti ayup iti rabaw ti daga.
I will enable your enemies to capture you, and they will kill you. And your bodies will be food for vultures and wild animals.
21 Iwayatkonto met ni Zedekias nga ari ti Juda ken dagiti mangidadaulona iti ima dagiti kabusorda ken kadagiti mangayat a mangkettel iti biagda, ken iti ima ti armada ti ari ti Babilonia nga umay, a maibusor kadakayo.
I will enable the army of the king of Babylon to capture King Zedekiah and his officials. Although the king of Babylon and his army have left Jerusalem [for a short time],
22 Kitaenyo, ngannganiakon nga mangted iti bilin - daytoy ket pakaammo ni Yahweh - ket isublikto ida iti daytoy a siudad tapno gubaten, sakupen, ken puoranda daytoy. Ta pagbalinekto dagiti siudad ti Juda a langalang a lugar ket awanto ti agnaed.'”
I will summon them back again. [This time], they will fight against this city and capture it and burn it down. I will make [sure] that all the towns in Judah are destroyed, [with the result that] no one will live there [any more].’”
