< Jeremias 28 >

1 Ket napasamak iti dayta a tawen, iti maikalima a bulan ti maika-uppat a tawen a rugrugi ti panagturay ni Zedekias nga ari ti Juda, a ni Hananias a profeta a putot ni Azur a nagtaud iti Gibeon ket nakisao kaniak iti balay ni Yahweh iti sangoanan dagiti papadi ken dagiti amin a tattao. Kinunana,
When Zedekiah had been the King of Judah for more than three years, late in the (summer/hot season), Azzur’s son Hananiah, a prophet from Gibeon [city], spoke to me in the [courtyard of the] temple, while [all] the priests and other people were listening. He said,
2 “Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh a Mannakabalin-amin a Dios ti Israel: Dinadaelkon ti sangol nga impabaklay ti ari ti Babilonia.
“This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says: ‘I will cause the king of Babylon to stop ruling/controlling [MET] [all of you].
3 Iti uneg ti dua a tawen, isublikto iti daytoy a disso dagiti amin a banbanag a kukua ti balay ni Yahweh nga innala ni Nebucadnezar nga ari ti Babilonia manipud iti daytoy a disso ket impanna idiay Babilonia.
(Within two years/Before two years have ended), I will cause to be brought bring back to this temple all the valuable things that King Nebuchadnezzar’s [soldiers] took from this temple and took to Babylon.
4 Ket isublikto iti daytoy a lugar ti ari ti Juda a ni Jehoiachin a putot ni Jehoiakim, ken amin dagiti naipanaw iti Juda a kas balud a naipan idiay Babilonia— kastoy ti pakaammo ni Yahweh—ta dadaelekto ti sangol ti ari ti Babilonia.”
And I will also cause King Jehoiachin to be brought back here, and all the [other] people who were captured and taken to Babylon. The king of Babylon has [forced you to do what he wants, like someone] puts a yoke [on the neck of an ox to force it to do what he] wants [MET] it to do. But I will cause that to end. [That will happen because] I, Yahweh, have said it.’”
5 Nakisarita ngarud ni Jeremias a profeta kenni Hananias a profeta iti sangoanan dagiti papadi ken dagiti amin a tattao a nakatakder iti sangoanan ti balay ni Yahweh.
I replied to Hananiah in front of [all] the priests and other people who were standing outside the temple.
6 Kinuna ni Jeremias a profeta, “Aramiden koma ni Yahweh daytoy! Patalgeden koma ni Yahweh dagiti sasao nga impadtom ken isublina iti daytoy a lugar dagiti banbanag a kukua ti balay ni Yahweh, ken amin dagiti naipan a kas balud idiay Babilonia.
I said, “(Amen/May that happen)! I desire/hope that what you have predicted will happen. I hope/desire that Yahweh will do everything that you have said! I hope/desire that he will cause [men from Babylon] to bring back from Babylon [all] the valuable things that were in this temple, and all the people who were taken [to Babylon].
7 Nupay kasta, dumngegka iti sao nga ibagak kenka ken kadagiti amin a tattao.
But now listen to what I say to you while all these people are listening.
8 Dagiti profeta nga immun-una a nagbiag sakbay kadata, nagipadtoda met maipanggep kadagiti adu a nasion ken maibusor kadagiti nabibileg a pagarian, maipanggep iti gubat, nakaro a panagbisin ken didigra.
Many years ago, those who were prophets before you and I [became prophets] spoke messages about many nations and great kingdoms. They predicted/prophesied that wars and disasters and plagues/diseases would occur in those nations.
9 Isu a ti profeta nga agipadpadto nga addanto iti kappia—no pumudno ti saona, ket maammoanto a pudno nga isuna ket profeta nga imbaon ni Yahweh.”
[So now you or] any other prophet who predicts that things will go well [for us must show that your message is correct. Only] if what you predict actually happens will we know that you were truly appointed by Yahweh.”
10 Ngem inikkat ni Hananias a profeta ti sangol nga adda iti tengnged ni Jeremias ket dinadaelna daytoy.
Then Hananiah took the yoke off my neck and broke it.
11 Ket nagsao ni Hananias iti sangoanan dagiti amin a tattao a kinunana, “Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: Iti uneg ti dua a tawen, kastoyto met laeng ti panangdadaelko iti sangol nga impabaklay ni Nebucadnezar nga ari ti Babilonia iti tunggal nasion.” Kalpasanna, pimmanaw ni Jeremias.
Then he said this to all the people who were there: “This is what Yahweh says: ‘Just like Hananiah has broken this yoke, within two years I will cause King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to [stop forcing the people to do what he wants, which has been like] a heavy yoke on all their necks [MET].’” After Hananiah said that, I left the temple area.
12 Kalpasan a dinanadel ni Hananias a profeta ti sangol nga inikkatna iti tengnged ni Jeremias, immay ti sao ni Yahweh kenni Jeremias a kunana,
[Soon] after Hananiah had broken the yoke that was around my neck, Yahweh gave this message to me:
13 “Mapanmo kasarita ni Hananias ket ibagam, 'Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: Dinadaelmo ti sangol a kayo, ngem mangaramidak iti sangol a landok.'
“Go and say this to Hananiah: ‘Yahweh says that you have broken a wooden yoke, but that he will replace it with an iron yoke.
14 Ta kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh a Mannakabalin-amin a Dios ti Israel: Nangikabilak iti sangol a landok iti tengnged dagitoy amin a nasion nga agserbi kenni Nebucadnezar nga ari ti Babilonia, ket pagserbianda isuna. Iyawatko met kenkuana dagiti narurungsot nga ayup kadagiti tay-ak tapno iturayanna.”
I have forced the people of all these nations to [become slaves of] King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. That is [like] [MET] an iron yoke around their necks. I have put everything, even wild animals, under his control.’”
15 Kalpasanna, kinuna pay ni Jeremias a profeta kenni Hananias a profeta, “Dumngegka Hananias! Saannaka nga imbaon ni Yahweh, ngem pinamatim dagiti tattao kadagiti inuulbod.
Then I [went to] Hananiah and said to him, “Hananiah, listen [to this]: Yahweh has not appointed you; instead, [you have told] lies to the people, and they have believed your lies.
16 Isu a kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: Kitaem, umadanin ti panangpukawko kenka iti daga. Matayka iti daytoy a tawen, agsipud ta inwaragawagmo ti panagsukir kenni Yahweh.”
Therefore, this is what Yahweh says: ‘You will [soon] die. Before the end of this year, you will die, because you have rebelled against Yahweh.’”
17 Ket natay ni Hananias iti maikapito a bulan iti dayta a tawen.
Hananiah died two months later.
