< Jeremias 18 >
1 Daytoy ti sao ni Yahweh nga immay kenni Jeremias a kunana,
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 “Tumakderka ket mapanka iti balay ti agdamdamili, ta ipakaammok kenka sadiay ti mensahek”
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there will I let thee hear my words.
3 Isu a napanak iti balay ti agdamdamili, ket nakitak! Madama nga agtrabtrabaho ti agdamdamili iti pagdamilian.
Then went I down to the potter's house, and, behold, he was doing work on the wheels.
4 Ngem ti banga a suksukogenna ket nadadael iti imana, isu a binaliwanna daytoy ket nangaramid iti sabali a banag a napintas iti panagkitana.
And the vessel that he was making became spoiled as [happeneth] with the clay in the hand of the potter; and he made again thereof another vessel, as it seemed good in the eyes of the potter to make it.
5 Kalpasanna, immay kaniak ti sao ni Yahweh a kunana,
Then came the word of the Lord to me, saying,
6 “Saanko aya a kabaelan nga aramiden kadakayo balay ti Israel ti kas iti inaramid ti agdamdamili? -kastoy ti pakaammo ni Yahweh. Kitaenyo! kas iti pila nga adda iti ima ti agdamdamili- kasta ti kaaddayo iti imak, balay ti Israel.
Shall I not be able to do unto you as this potter, O house of Israel? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel.
7 Iti aniaman a kanito, mabalinko nga ipakaammo ti maysa a banag maipapan iti maysa a nasion wenno pagarian a parutek daytoy, burakek wenno dadaelek daytoy.
At one instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8 Ngem no ti nasion a nangiballaagak ket tumallikud iti kinadakesna, saanko ngarud nga ituloy ti didigra a pangpanggepek nga iyeg iti daytoy.
But should that nation, against whom I have spoken, return from their wrong-doing: then will I bethink me of the evil that I had thought to do unto them.
9 Iti aniaman a kanito, mabalin nga ibagak ti maysa a banag maipapan iti maysa a nasion wenno pagarian, a bangonek daytoy wenno ipatakderko daytoy.
And at one instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10 Ngem no mangaramid daytoy iti dakes iti imatangko, a saanna dengngen ti timekko, isardengkonto ngarud ti nasayaat nga imbagak nga aramidek para kadakuada.
But should it do what is evil in my eyes, so as not to hearken to my voice: then will I bethink me of the good, wherewith I had thought to benefit the same.
11 Isu nga ita, agsaoka kadagiti lallaki iti Juda ken kadagiti agnanaed iti Jerusalem a kunam, 'Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: Kitaenyo, Umadanin ti panangparnuayko iti didigra kadakayo. Umadanin ti panangaramidko iti maysa a panggep a maibusor kadakayo. Tunggal tao ket agbabawi iti dinadangkes nga ar-aramidenna, tapno dagiti wagasyo ken dagiti aramidyo ket mangiyeg iti nasayaat kadakayo,
And now do say to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, as followeth, Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I form against you evil, and devise against you a device: do but return now every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your deeds.
12 Ngem ibagadanto, 'Awan serserbina daytoy. Agtignaykami segun kadagiti bukodmi a panggep. Aramidento ti tunggal maysa kadakami ti kinadakesna, dagiti tarigagay ti nasukir a pusona.'
And they said, It is useless: for after our own thoughts will we walk, and we will every one do after the stubbornness of his evil heart.
13 Isu a kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh, 'Saludsodem kadagiti nasion, siasino ti nakangngeg iti kasta a banag a kas iti daytoy? Nakaaramid ti birhen nga Israel iti nakaal-alinggaget a tignay.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Only ask among the nations, Who hath heard the like things? a very horrible act hath the virgin of Israel committed.
14 Maawanan kadi iti niebe dagiti kabatbatoan a turod kadagiti away iti Lebanon? Matianan kadi dagiti waig iti bantay nga agayus manipud iti adayo?
Doth the snow of Lebanon ever quit the rock of the field? or do the far-coming, cold, flowing waters ever fail?
15 Ngem linipatdak dagiti tattaok. Nagidatonda kadagiti awan serserbina a didiosen ken naitibkulda kadagiti dalanda; pinanawanda dagiti nagkauna a dalan tapno magnada kadagiti basbassit a dalan.
That my people have forgotten me, that they have burnt incense to false gods, and are made to stumble on their ways, the ancient beaten tracks, to walk in paths, on a road which is not leveled?
16 Agbalinto a nakabutbuteng ti dagada, maysa a banag nga agnanayon a pagsakuntipan. Amin a lumabas iti dagada ket agkintayeg ken agwingiwing.
To make their land desolate, a perpetual derision: every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.
17 Waraekto ida iti sangoanan dagiti kabusorda a kasla tapok nga intayab ti angin a naggapu iti daya. Tallikudakto ida ken saanak a sumango iti aldaw ti didigrada.'”
Like an east wind will I scatter them before the enemy; with the back, and not the face, will I regard them on the day of their calamity.
18 Isu a kinuna dagiti tattao, “Umaykayo, planwentayo ti dakes nga aramidentayo kenni Jeremias, agsipud ta saan a pulos a mapukaw ti linteg kadagiti padi, wenno balakad manipud kadagiti mamasirib a lallaki, wenno sasao manipud kadagiti profeta. Umaykayo, rautentayo isuna babaen kadagiti sasaotayo ket saantayon nga ipangag ti aniaman nga ibagbagana.
And they said, Come, and let us contrive devices against Jeremiah; for the law will not be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not listen to any of his words.
19 Ipangagnak, O Yahweh! Ket denggem ti ariwawa dagiti kabusorko.
Listen to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of those that contend with me.
20 Didigra kadi ti gungunak iti kinaimbagko kadakuada? Ta nangkalida iti abut a para kaniak. Lagipem ti panagtakderko iti sangoanam tapno agsaoak para iti pagsayaatanda, tapno bumaaw ti pungtotmo kadakuada.
Shall evil be recompensed instead of good, that they have dug a pit for my life? Remember my standing before thee to speak good concerning them, to cause thy wrath to turn away from them.
21 Iyawatmo ngarud dagiti annakda iti panagbisin, ken itedmo ida iti pannakabalin ti kampilan. Ipalubosmo koma a maulila ken mabalo dagiti assawada a babbai, ken mapapatay dagiti lallaki nga adda kadakuada, ken mapapatay dagiti agtutuboda a lallaki babaen iti kampilan iti gubat.
Therefore give up their children to the famine, and let their life ebb out by means of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and widows; and let their men be slain by death; their young men smitten by the sword in the battle.
22 Mangngeg koma ti panagasug iti panagtuok manipud kadagiti babbalayda, bayat ti kellaat a panangiyegmo kadagiti mangraut kadakuada. Ta nagkalida iti maysa nga abut tapno tiliwendak ken nangipakatda kadagiti silo para kadagiti sakak.
Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou bringest a troop over them suddenly; for they have dug a pit to catch me, and laid concealed snares for my feet.
23 Ngem Sika, O Yahweh, ammom amin dagiti panggepda a mangpapatay kaniak. Saanmo a pakawanen ti nakaro a kinadakesda ken dagiti basolda. Saanmo a punasen dagiti basolda kenka. Ngem ketdi, bay-am ida a maparmek iti sangoanam. Agtignayka a maibusor kadakuada iti tiempo ti pungtotmo.
Yet thou, Lord, knowest well all their counsel against me to [procure my] death: forgive not their iniquity, and let their sin not be blotted out from before thee; but let them be brought to stumbling before thee; in the time of thy anger deal thus with them.
