< Santiago 1 >

1 Ni Santiago, nga adipen ti Dios ken ti Apo a ni Jesu-Cristo, kadagiti sangapulo ket dua a tribu iti Pannakaiwara-wara, kablaaw.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 Ibilangyo amin a rag-o, kakabsatko, no makapadaskayo iti nadumaduma a pakariribukan,
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 nga ammoyo a iti pannakasuot ti pammatiyo ket mangpataud iti panagibtur.
Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 Palubosanyo a leppasen ti panagibtur ti trabahona, tapno agbalinkayo koma a naan-anay a nataengan, nga awan pagkuranganna.
But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 Ngem no kasapulan ti siasinoman kadakayo ti kinasirib, dawatenna daytoy manipud iti Dios, ti sibubuslon a mangmangted ken saan a mangtubtubngar kadagiti amin a dumawat ket ipaaynanto daytoy.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 Ngem dumawatkayo nga addaan iti pammati, nga awanan iti panagduadua, ta ti agduadua ket kasla dalluyon idiay baybay, iturturong iti angin ken maipalpalladaw iti aglawlaw.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 Ta masapul a saan a panunoten dayta a tao a maawatnanto ti kiddawna iti Apo;
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 ti kasta a tao ket agduadua ti panunotna, saan a natalna kadagiti amin a wagasna.
A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.
9 Ti nakurapay a kabsat ket agrag-o koma iti nangato a kasasaadna,
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 kabayatan a ti nabaknang a kabsat iti kinapakumbabana, gapu ta mapukawto isuna a kasla iti panagpukaw ti atap a sabong iti talon.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 Sumingising ti init nga addaan iti makasinit a pudot ket laylayenna ti mula, ket matinnag ti sabong ket matay ti pintasna. Iti isu met laeng a wagas, mapukawto dagiti nabaknang a tattao iti tengnga dagiti ar-aramidenda.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Nagasat ti tao a makaibtur iti pannakasuot, ta kalpasan a malasatanna ti suot, awatennanto ti balangat ti biag, a naikari kadagiti agay-ayat iti Dios.
Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Awan koma iti mangibaga inton masulisog isuna, “Daytoy a sulisog ket naggapu iti Dios,” gapu ta saan a nasulisog ti Dios babaen iti dakes, ken ti Dios mismo ket saan a mangsulsulisog iti siasinoman.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 Masulisog ti tunggal tao babaen iti bukodna a dakes a tartarigagay a mangal-allukoy ken mang-guyguyod kenkuana a paadayo.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Ket kalpasan a maiyinaw ti managbasol a tartarigagay, maipasngay ti basol, ken kalpasan a dimmakkel a naan-anay ti basol ibungana ti patay.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Saankayo a paallilaw, ay-ayatek a kakabsat.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Ti tunggal nasayaat a sagut ken tunggal naan-anay a sagut ket manipud idiay ngato, a bumabbaba manipud iti Ama dagiti lawag. Saan nga agbalbaliw isuna a kasla kadagiti agsukat-sukat nga aniniwan.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Pinili ti Dios nga ikkannatayo iti biag babaen iti sao iti kinapudno, tapno agbalintayo a kasla dagiti umuna a bunga kadagiti pinarsuana.
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Ammoyo daytoy, ay-ayatek a kakabsat. Masapul a nasiglat a dumngeg ti tunggal tao, nainnayad nga agsao, ken saan a nalaka a makaunget,
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 ta ti unget ti tao ket saanna a tungpalen ti kinalinteg iti Dios.
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Ngarud ikkatenyo amin a managbasol a rugit ken ti dakes nga adda iti sadinoman, ken iti kinapakumbaba awaten ti naimula a sao, nga isu ti makaisalakan kadagiti kararuayo.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 Agtulnogkayo iti sao, saanyo laeng a denggen daytoy, nga al-allilawenyo dagiti bukodyo a bagi.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 Ta no mangngeg ti siasinoman ti sao ken saanna nga aramiden daytoy, maiyarig isuna iti maysa a tao a mangkitkita iti rupana iti sarming.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 Kitkitaenna ti rupana, ken pumanaw ket malipatanna a dagus ti langana.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 Ngem ti tao a kumita a siaannad iti naan-anay a linteg, ti linteg iti wayawaya, ken agtultuloy nga agtultulnog iti daytoy, saan laeng a kas dumdumngeg a malipatanna, mabendisionanto daytoy a tao kas aramidenna daytoy.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 No panunoten ti siasinoman a relihioso isuna, ngem saanna a tengngelen ti dilana, al-allilawenna ti pusona ken awan serbi ti relihionna.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain.
27 Ti nadalus ken saan a narugitan a relihion iti sangoanan ti Dios ken Amatayo ket daytoy: ti panangtulong kadagiti awanan ti ama ken kadagiti balo a babbai iti panagrigatda, ken ti mangsalaknib iti bagi manipud iti panangdadael iti lubong.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.
