1 Dagitoy dagiti kaputotan ni Esau (a maawagan met laeng iti Edom).
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
2 Nangala ni Esau iti assawana manipud kadagiti Canaanita. Dagitoy dagiti assawana: ni Ada a putot ni Elon a Heteo; ni Oholibama a putot ni Ana ken apoko ni Zibeon a Heteo;
Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;

and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.

Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.

Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.

Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.

They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
9 Dagiti sumaganad ket dagiti kaputotan ni Esau, a kapuonan dagiti Edomita iti katurturodan a pagilian ti Seir.
(Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
10 Dagitoy dagiti nagan dagiti lallaki a putot ni Esau: ni Elifaz nga anak a lalaki ni Ada nga asawa ni Esau; ni Reuel nga anak a lallaki ni Basemat nga asawa ni Esau.
Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
11 Dagitoy met dagiti lallaki a putot ni Elifaz: da Teman, Omar, Zepo, Gatam ken Kenaz.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 Impasngay met ni Timna a maysa nga inkabbalay ni Elifaz a putot ni Esau ni Amalek. Appoko dagitoy ni Ada nga asawa ni Esau.
Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Reuel: da Nahat, Zera, Samma ken Mizza. Appoko dagitoy ni Basemat nga asawa ni Esau.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14 Dagitoy met dagiti annak a lallaki da Esau ken Oholibama nga asawana. Ni Oholibama ket putot ni Ana ken apoko ni Zibeon. Impasngayna kenni Esau da Jeus, Jaalam ken Kora.
Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
16 Kora, Gatam ken Amalek. Dagitoy ket puli a nagtaud kenni Elifaz idiay daga ti Edom. Isuda ket lallaki nga appoko ni Ada.
the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
17 Dagitoy dagiti puli a nagtaud kenni Reuel, a lalaki a putot ni Esau: da Nahat, Zera, Samma ken Mizza. Dagitoy dagiti puli a nagtaud kenni Reuel iti daga ti Edom. Isuda dagiti appoko a lallaki ni Basemat nga asawa ni Esau. Dagitoy dagiti puli ni Oholibama nga asawa ni Esau: da Jeus, Jaalam ken Kora.
The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
18 Dagitoy dagiti puli a nagtaud kenni Oholibama nga asawa ni Esau, a putot ni Ana.
The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
19 Dagitoy dagiti putot a lallaki ni Esau, ken dagitoy dagiti pulida.
That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
20 Dagitoy dagiti a lallaki a putot ni Seir a Horeo nga agnanaed iti daga: da Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana,
(This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Dison, Ezer ken Disan. Dagitoy dagiti puli dagiti Horeo, dagiti agnanaed idiay Seir iti daga ti Edom.
Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
22 Dagiti lallaki a putot ni Lotan ket da Hori ken Heman. Ni Timna ket kabsat a babai ni Lotan.
The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
23 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Sobal: da Alban, Manahat, Ebal, Sefo ken Onam.
The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Zibeon, da Aya ken Ana. Isu daytoy ni Ana a nakasarak iti napudot nga ubbog iti let-ang kabayatan nga ipaspastorna dagiti asno ni Zibeon nga amana.
The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
25 Dagitoy dagiti putot ni Ana: ni Dison ken ni Oholibama a putot a babai ni Ana.
Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
26 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Dison: da Hemdan, Esban, Itran, ken Keran.
Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
27 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Ezer: da Bilhan, Zaavan ken Akan.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28 Dagitoy dagiti lallaki a putot ni Disan: ni Uz ken ni Aran.
Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
29 Dagitoy dagiti puli dagiti Horeo: da Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, ken Ana,
The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
30 Dison, Ezer, Disan: Dagitoy dagiti puli dagiti Horeo segun iti listaan dagiti pulida iti daga ti Seir.
31 Dagitoy dagiti ari a nagturay idiay Edom sakbay nga adda nagturay nga ari kadagiti Israelita:
These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
32 Nagturay ni Bela a lalaki a putot ni Beor idiay Edom ken ti nagan ti siudadna ket Dinhaba.
Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
33 Idi natay ni Bela, simmukat kas ari ni Jobab a lalaki a putot ni Zera a taga-Bozra.
When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
34 Idi natay ni Jobab, naisukat a nagari ni Husam a nagtaud iti daga dagiti Temanita.
When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
35 Idi natay ni Husam, naisukat a nagari ni Hadad a lalaki a putot ni Bedad. Isuna ti nangparmek kadagiti Midianita iti daga ti Moab. Ti nagan ti siudadna ket Avit.
When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.

When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
37 Idi natay ni Samla, naisukat a nagari ni Saul a a nagtaud idiay Rehobot nga asideg iti karayan Eufrates.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
38 Idi natay ni Saul, naisukat a nagari ni Baal Hanan a lalaki a putot ni Akbor.
When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
39 Idi natay ni Baal Hanan a putot ni Akbor, naisukat a nagari ni Hadar. Ti nagan ti siudadna ket Pau. Ti nagan ti asawana ket ni Mehetabel a babai a putot ni Matred ken apoko a babai ni Me Zahab.
When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40 Dagitoy dagiti nagan dagiti panguloen dagiti puli manipud iti kaputotan ni Esau, segun iti pulida ken kadagiti rehionda, ken segun kadagiti nagnaganda: da Timna, Alva, Jetet,
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
