< Deuteronomio 1 >

1 Dagitoy dagiti sasao nga insao ni Moises kadagiti amin nga Israel idiay let-ang iti ballasiw ti Jordan, iti patad ti katantanapan ti Jordan a batug ti Suf, iti nagbabaetan ti Paran, Tofel, Laban, Haserot, ken Di Zahab.
These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel in the wilderness east of the Jordan—in the Arabah opposite Suph—between Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2 Sangapulo ket maysa nga aldaw a panagdaliasat manipud Horeb agingga idiay Kades Barnea no idiay Bantay Seir ti pagnaan.
It is an eleven-day journey from Horeb to Kadesh-barnea by way of Mount Seir.
3 Napasamak nga iti maika-uppat a pulo a tawen, iti maika-sangapulo ket maysa a bulan, iti umuna nga aldaw ti bulan, a nagsao ni Moises kadagiti tattao ti Israel, ket imbagana kadakuada dagiti amin nga imbilin ni Yahweh kenkuana maipapan kadakuada.
In the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the LORD had commanded him concerning them.
4 Daytoy ket kalpasan a rinaut ni Yahweh ni Sihon nga ari dagiti Amorreo, a nagnaed idiay Hesbon, ken ni Og nga ari ti Basan, a nagnaed idiay Astarot, idiay Edrei.
This was after he had defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and then at Edrei had defeated Og king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth.
5 Iti ballasiw ti Jordan, idiay daga ti Moab, inrugi nga inwaragawag ni Moises dagitoy a bilbilin, a kunkunana,
On the east side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying:
6 “Nagsao kadatayo ni Yahweh a Diostayo idiay Horeb a kunkunana, 'Nabayag unayen ti panagnaedyo iti daytoy a katurturodan a pagilian.
The LORD our God said to us at Horeb: “You have stayed at this mountain long enough.
7 Agrubbuatkayo ket agdaliasatkayo a mapan iti katurturodan a pagilian dagiti Amorreo ken kadagiti amin a lugar nga asideg sadiay kadagiti patad ti katantanapan ti Karayan Jordan, idiay katurturodan a pagilian, idiay nababa a paset ti daga, idiay Negev ken iti igid ti baybay —ti daga dagiti Cananeo, ken idiay Lebanon agingga iti dakkel a karayan ti Eufrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the foothills, in the Negev, and along the seacoast to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
8 Kitaenyo, insaganak ti daga iti sangoananyo; serken ken tagikuaenyo ti daga nga insapata ni Yahweh kadagiti ammayo— kenni Abraham, kenni Isaac, ken kenni Jacob — nga itedna kadakuada ken kadagiti sumarsaruno a kaputotanda.'
See, I have placed the land before you. Enter and possess the land that the LORD swore He would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants after them.”
9 Nagsaoak kadakayo iti dayta a tiempo a kunkunak, “Saankayo a kabaelan nga awiten nga agmaymaysa.”
At that time I said to you, “I cannot carry the burden for you alone.
10 Pinaadunakayo ni Yahweh a Diosyo ket adtoy, kaslakayo itan kadagiti bituen idiay langit iti kinaaduyo.
The LORD your God has multiplied you, so that today you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.
11 Ni Yahweh, ti Dios dagiti ammayo, paaduenna koma iti maminribu ti kaaduyo, ken bendisionannakayo, kas inkarina kadakayo!
May the LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times over and bless you as He has promised.
12 Ngem kasanok a bagkaten nga agmaymaysa dagiti awityo, dagiti dadagsenyo, ken dagiti pagriririanyo?
But how can I bear your troubles, burdens, and disputes all by myself?
13 Mangalakayo kadagiti masirib a lallaki, mannakaawat a lallaki, ken lallaki a nasayaat ti pakasarsaritaanna, iti tunggal tribu, ket pagbalinek ida a mangidaulo kadakayo.'
Choose for yourselves wise, understanding, and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will appoint them as your leaders.”
14 Simmungbatkayo kaniak ket kinunayo, 'Nasayaat nga aramidenmi ti banag nga imbagam.'
And you answered me and said, “What you propose to do is good.”
15 Innalak ngarud dagiti mangidadaulo dagiti tribuyo, dagiti masirib a lallaki, ken lallaki a nasayaat ti pakasarsaritaanna, ket pinagbalinko ida a mangidadaulo kadakayo, kapitan ti rinibu, kapitan ti ginasut, kapitan ti saglilimapulo, kapitan ti sagsasangapulo, ken dagiti opisyales, iti tunggal tribu.
So I took the leaders of your tribes, wise and respected men, and appointed them as leaders over you—as commanders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens, and as officers for your tribes.
16 Binilinko dagiti ukomyo iti dayta a tiempo a kunkunak, 'Denggenyo dagiti pagriririan iti nagbaetan dagiti kakabsatyo, ken mangukomkayo a sililinteg iti nagbaetan ti maysa a tao ken iti kabsatna, ken iti ganggannaet a kaduana.
At that time I charged your judges: “Hear the disputes between your brothers, and judge fairly between a man and his brother or a foreign resident.
17 Saankayo a mangipakita iti panangidumduma iti siasinoman iti maysa a riri; agpada a denggenyo dagiti nakurapay ken babaknang. Masapul a saankayo nga agbuteng iti rupa ti tao, ta kukua ti Dios ti panangukom. Iyegyo kaniak dagiti pagriririan a narigat unay para kadakayo ket denggekto dagitoy.'
Show no partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God. And bring to me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.”
18 Imbilinko kadakayo iti dayta a tiempo dagiti amin a banbanag a nasken nga aramidenyo.
And at that time I commanded you all the things you were to do.
19 Pimmanawtayo idiay Horeb ket linasattayo amin dagita a dadakkel ken nakabutbuteng a let-ang a nakitayo, iti dalantayo a mapan iti katurturodan a pagilian dagiti Amorreo, kas imbilin kadatayo ni Yahweh a Diostayo; ket dimtengtayo idiay Kades Barnea.
And just as the LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from Horeb and went toward the hill country of the Amorites, through all the vast and terrifying wilderness you have seen. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
20 Kinunak kadakayo, “Nadanonyon ti katurturodan a pagilian dagiti Amorreo, nga it-ited kadatayo ni Yahweh a Diostayo.
I said: “You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the LORD our God is giving us.
21 Adtoy, insaganan ni Yahweh a Diosyo ti daga iti sangoananyo; sumang-atkayo ket tagikuaenyo a kas insao ni Yahweh kadakayo, ti Dios dagiti ammayo; saankayo nga agbuteng, wenno maupay.'
See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
22 Immay kaniak ti tunggal maysa kadakayo ket kinunayo, “Mangibaontayo kadagiti lallaki nga umuna kadatayo, tapno wanawananda ti daga para kadatayo, ket pakaammoandatayo maipanggep iti pamay-antayo a mangraut, ken maipapan kadagiti siudad a danonentayo.'
Then all of you approached me and said, “Let us send men ahead of us to search out the land and bring us word of what route to follow and which cities to enter.”
23 Naay-ayoak unay iti dayta a banag; nangalaak iti sangapulo ket dua a lallaki kadakayo, maysa a lalaki iti tunggal tribu.
The plan seemed good to me, so I selected twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.
24 Nagrubbuatda ket simmang-atda idiay katurturodan a pagilian, dimtengda iti tanap ti Escol, ket sinawarda daytoy.
They left and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshcol and spied out the land.
25 Nangalada kadagiti napataud ti daga ket insalogda dagitoy nga inyeg kadatayo. Impakaammoda pay kadatayo a kinunada, 'Nasayaat ti daga nga it-ited kadatayo ni Yahweh a Diostayo.'
They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands, carried it down to us, and brought us word: “It is a good land that the LORD our God is giving us.”
26 Ngem nagkedkedkayo a rimmaut ket sinukiryo ketdi ti bilin ni Yahweh a Diosyo.
But you were unwilling to go up; you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God.
27 Nagtatanabutobkayo kadagiti uneg ti toldayo ket kinunayo, “Daytoy ket gapu ta kaguranatayo ni Yahweh isu nga inruarnatayo iti daga ti Egipto tapno parmekennatayo babaen iti bileg dagiti Amorreo, ken tapno dadaelennatayo.
You grumbled in your tents and said, “Because the LORD hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to be annihilated.
28 Papanantayo itan? Kimmapuy ti pakinakemtayo gapu kadagiti kakabsattayo nga agkunkuna, “Dakdakkel ken nataytayag dagitoy a lallaki ngem kadatayo; nalawa ti siudadda ken nasarikedkedan agingga kadagiti langit; maysa pay, nakitami sadiay dagiti annak a lalaki ni Anak.'
Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts melt, saying: ‘The people are larger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the heavens. We even saw the descendants of the Anakim there.’”
29 Ket kinunak kadakayo, “Saankayo nga agbuteng, wenno mabuteng kadakuada.
So I said to you: “Do not be terrified or afraid of them!
30 Ni Yahweh a Diosyo a kanayon nga umun-una kadakayo, makirangetto para kadakayo, kas met kadagiti amin a banbanag nga inaramidna idiay Egipto iti imatangyo,
The LORD your God, who goes before you, will fight for you, just as you saw Him do for you in Egypt
31 ken kasta met idiay let-ang, a nakaimatanganyo iti panangawit kadakayo ni Yahweh a Diosyo, a kas iti panangawit iti maysa a tao iti anakna, iti sadinoman a napananyo agingga a dimtengkayo iti daytoy a disso.'
and in the wilderness, where the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way by which you traveled until you reached this place.”
32 Ngem iti daytoy a banag, saankayo a namati kenni Yahweh a Diosyo—
But in spite of all this, you did not trust the LORD your God,
33 nga immuna kadakayo iti dalan tapno mangsapul kadagiti disso a pangipatakderanyo kadagiti toldayo, ken iti rabii ket babaen iti apuy, a mangisuro kadakayo iti dalan a rumbeng a papananyo, ken iti aldaw ket babaen iti ulep.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
34 Nangngeg ni Yahweh ti timek dagiti sasaoyo ket nakaunget isuna; nagsapata isuna ket kinunana,
When the LORD heard your words, He grew angry and swore an oath, saying,
35 'Sigurado nga awanto kadagitoy a lallaki iti daytoy dakes a henerasion ti makakita iti nasayaat a daga nga inkarik nga ited kadagiti kapuonanyo,
“Not one of the men of this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your fathers,
36 malaksid kenni Caleb nga anak a lalaki ni Jephunneh; makitananto daytoy. Itedkonto kenkuana ti daga a nabaddekanna, ken kadagiti annakna, gapu ta naan-anay a nagtungpal isuna kenni Yahweh.'
except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land on which he has set foot, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.”
37 Nakaunget pay ni Yahweh kaniak gapu kadakayo, a kunkunana, 'Saankanto met a makastrek sadiay;
The LORD was also angry with me on your account, and He said, “Not even you shall enter the land.
38 ni Josue nga anak a lalaki ni Nun, nga agtaktakder iti sangoanam a kas adipenmo, makastrekto isuna sadiay; pabilgem isuna, ta idauloannanto ti Israel a mangtawid iti daytoy.
Joshua son of Nun, who stands before you, will enter it. Encourage him, for he will enable Israel to inherit the land.
39 Maysa pay, dagiti babassit nga annakyo, dagiti imbagayo nga agbalinto a biktima, nga awan pannakaammona ita iti nasayaat ken dakes— makapandanto sadiay. Itedkonto kadakuada daytoy ket tagikuaendanto.
And the little ones you said would become captives—your children who on that day did not know good from evil—will enter the land that I will give them, and they will possess it.
40 Ngem no maipapan kadakayo, agsublikayo ket agdaliasatkayo iti let-ang iti dalan nga agturong iti baybay dagiti Runo.'
But you are to turn back and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”
41 Ket simmungbatkayo ket kinunayo kaniak, 'Nagbasolkami kenni Yahweh; sumang-atkami ket makirangetkami, ket surotenmi dagiti amin nga imbilin kadakami ni Yahweh a Diosmi nga aramidenmi.' Insuot ti tunggal maysa kadakayo dagiti armasna a panggubat, ket nakasaganakayo a mangraut iti katurturodan a pagilian.
“We have sinned against the LORD,” you replied. “We will go up and fight, as the LORD our God has commanded us.” Then each of you put on his weapons of war, thinking it easy to go up into the hill country.
42 Kinuna ni Yahweh kaniak, 'Ibagam kadakuada, “Saankayo a rumaut ken saankayo a makiranget, ta saankayonto a kaduaan, ket parmekendakayonto dagiti kabusoryo.'
But the LORD said to me, “Tell them not to go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from defeat by your enemies.”
43 Nagsaoak kadakayo iti kastoy a wagas, ngem saankayo a dimngeg. Sinukiryo ti bilin ni Yahweh; nakatangtangsitkayo ken rinautyo ti katurturodan a pagilian.
So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the command of the LORD and presumptuously went up into the hill country.
44 Ngem dagiti Amorreo a nagnanaed iti dayta a katurturodan a pagilian, rimuarda ket kinamkamatdakayo a kasla ayukan, ken pinarmekdakayo idiay Seir, agingga idiay Horma.
Then the Amorites who lived in the hills came out against you and chased you like a swarm of bees. They routed you from Seir all the way to Hormah.
45 Nagsublikayo ket nagsangitkayo iti sangoanan ni Yahweh; ngem saan a dinengngeg ni Yahweh dagiti timekyo, wenno impangagnakayo.
And you returned and wept before the LORD, but He would not listen to your voice or give ear to you.
46 Isu a nagtalinaedkayo idiay Kades iti adu nga al-aldaw, iti amin nga aldaw a nagtalinaedkayo sadiay.
For this reason you stayed in Kadesh for a long time—a very long time.
