< Deuteronomio 19 >
1 Inton ikkaten ni Yahweh a Diosyo dagiti nasion, dagiti daga nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo, ken inton sublatanyo ida ket agnaedkayo kadagiti siudadda ken babbalayda,
“When the Lord your God will have destroyed the nations, whose land he will deliver to you, and when you possess it and live in its cities and buildings,
2 masapul a mangpilikayo iti tallo a siudad a para kadakayo iti tengnga ti dagayo nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo a tagikuaenyo.
you shall separate for yourselves three cities in the midst of the land, which the Lord will give to you as a possession,
3 Masapul a mangaramidkayo iti dalan ken bingayenyo dagiti beddeng dagiti dagayo iti tallo a paset, ti daga nga ipatpatawid ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo, tapno mabalin nga agkamang sadiay ti siasinoman a makapatay iti sabali a tao.
paving the road carefully. And you shall divide the entire province of your land equally into three parts, so that he who is forced to flee because of manslaughter may have a place nearby to which he may be able to escape.
4 Daytoy ti linteg para iti tao a makapatay iti sabali ken agkamang sadiay tapno agbiag: siasinoman ti makapatay iti kaarrubana a saanna nga ingagara, ken saanna a ginura isuna iti napalabas—
This shall be the law of the killer who flees, whose life is to be saved. Whoever strikes down his neighbor unwillingly, and who has been proven to have had no hatred against him yesterday and the day before,
5 kas iti maysa a tao a mapan idiay bakir a kaduana ti kaarrubana tapno agpukan iti kayo, ket inlayat ti imana ti wasay tapno pukanenna ti kayo, ket nauksot ti ulo ti wasay manipud iti putanna ken natamaan ti kaarrubana isu a natay isuna—masapul ngarud nga agkamang dayta a tao iti maysa kadagitoy a siudad ket agbiag.
such that he had gone with him into the forest simply to cut wood, and in cutting down the tree, the axe slipped from his hand, or the iron slipped from the handle, and it struck his friend and killed him: he shall flee to one of the cities stated above, and he shall live.
6 Ta no saan, amangan no kamaten ti mangibales iti dara ti tao a nakapatay, ket iti bara ti ungetna makamakamna isuna gapu ta atiddog daytoy a panagdaliasat. Ket kabilen ken papatayenna isuna, uray no saan a maikari a matay dayta a tao; ket saan pay a maikari isuna iti pannakapapatay agsipud ta saanna met a kinagura ti kaarrubana sakbay a napasamak daytoy.
Otherwise, perhaps the near relative of him whose blood was shed, impelled by his grief, might pursue and apprehend him, unless the way is too long, and he might strike down the life of him who is not guilty unto death, since he had demonstrated that he had no prior hatred against him who was slain.
7 Ngarud, bilinenkayo a mangpilikayo iti tallo a siudad para kadakayo.
For this reason, I instruct you to separate three cities at equal distance from one another.
8 No palawaen ni Yahweh a Diosyo dagiti beddengyo, kas insapatana kadagiti kapuonanyo nga aramidenna, ken itedna kadakayo dagiti amin a daga nga inkarina nga itedna kadagiti kapuonanyo;
And when the Lord your God will have enlarged your borders, just as he swore to your fathers, and when he will have given to you all the land that he has promised to them,
9 no salimetmetanyo amin dagitoy a bilbilin tapno aramiden dagitoy, nga ibilbilinko kadakayo ita nga aldaw—dagiti bilbilin tapno ayaten ni Yahweh a Diosyo ken tapno kankanayon a magna kadagiti dalanna, masapul ngarud nga agnayonkayo iti tallo pay a siudad para kadakayo, malaksid kadagitoy a tallo.
(but this is only so if you will keep his commandments and do the things which I instruct to you this day, so that you love the Lord your God, and walk in his ways at all times) you shall add for yourselves three other cities, and so you shall double the number of the three cities stated above.
10 Aramidenyo daytoy tapno saan nga agsayasay ti dara nga awan basolna iti tengnga ti daga nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo a kas pannakatawidyo, tapno awan pakabasolanyo iti panagpapatay.
So may innocent blood not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord your God will give you to possess, lest you be guilty of blood.
11 Ngem no kagura ti siasinoman ti kaarrubana, padpadaananna isuna, tumakder a maibusor kenkuana, ket sinugatanna isuna iti nakaro nga isu ti nakatayanna, ket no agkamang isuna iti maysa kadagitoy a siudad—
But if anyone, having hatred for his neighbor, will have lain in ambush for his life, and, rising up, will have struck him, and he will have died, and if he will have fled to one of the cities stated above,
12 masapul ngarud a mangibaon dagiti panglakayen iti siudadna ken isublida isuna manipud sadiay, ket iyawatda isuna iti ima dagiti kabagian nga akinrebbeng, tapno matay isuna.
the elders of his city shall send, and they shall take him from the place of refuge, and they shall deliver him into the hand of the relative of him whose blood was shed, and he shall die.
13 Masapul a saan a maasi dagiti matayo kenkuana; ngem ketdi, masapul nga ikkatenyo ti basol iti panagpatay manipud Israel, tapno sumayaatkayonto.
You shall not take pity on him, and so shall you take away the blood of the innocent from Israel, so that it may be well with you.
14 Masapul a saanyo nga ikkaten ti mohon ti kaarrubayo nga inkabilda iti nabayagen a panawen, iti tawid a tawidenyonto, iti daga nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo a tagikuaenyo.
You shall not take up or move the landmark of your neighbor, which those before you have placed, in your possession that the Lord your God will give to you, in the land you will receive to possess.
15 Masapul a saan a tumakder ti maymaysa a saksi a maibusor iti maysa a tao gapu iti aniaman a kinadakes, wenno gapu iti aniaman a basol, iti aniaman a banag a nagbasolanna; manipud iti ngiwat iti dua a saksi, wenno manipud iti ngiwat iti tallo a saksi, masapul a mapatalgedan ti aniaman a banag.
One witness shall not stand against another, no matter what the sin or outrage may be. For every word shall stand by the mouth of two or three witnesses.
16 No bilang ta tumakder ti saan a nalinteg a saksi a maibusor iti siasinoman tapno mangpaneknek iti maibusor kenkuana iti panagaramidna iti dakes,
If a lying witness will have stood against a man, accusing him of a transgression,
17 Ket ti dua a tattao a nagtaudan daytoy a riri, masapul a tumakder iti sangoanan ni Yahweh, iti sangoanan dagiti papadi ken dagiti uk-ukom nga agserserbi kadagitoy nga al-aldaw.
both of those whose case it is shall stand before the Lord in the sight of the priests and the judges who shall be in those days.
18 Masapul a sukimaten a nasayaat dagiti ukom; kitaenyo, no ulbod ti saksi ket siuulbod a nangpaneknek maibusor iti kabsatna,
And when, after a very diligent examination, they will have found that the false witness had told a lie against his brother,
19 masapul ngarud nga aramidenyo kenkuana, a kas iti tinarigagayanna nga aramiden iti kabsatna; ket ikkatenyonto ti kinadakes manipud kadakayo.
they shall render to him just as he intended to do to his brother. And so shall you take away the evil from your midst.
20 Ket mangngeg ken agbutengto dagiti nabati, ket manipud iti dayta a tiempo, saandanton nga agaramid kadagiti kasta a kinadakes kadakayo.
Then the others, upon hearing this, will be afraid, and they will by no means dare to do such things.
21 Masapul a saan a maasi dagiti matayo; biagto ti mangbayad iti biag, mata para iti mata, ngipen para iti ngipen, ima para iti ima, ken saka para iti saka.
You shall not take pity on him. Instead, you shall require a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot.”
