< Deuteronomio 17 >

1 Masapul a saankayo a mangipaay iti sakripisio kenni Yahweh a Diosyo iti maysa a baka wenno maysa a karnero nga adda pakapilawanna wenno banag a saan a nasayaat, ta makarimon daytoy kenni Yahweh a Diosyo.
“Do not sacrifice to Yahweh our God any cattle or sheep or goats that have any defects, because Yahweh hates that kind of gift.”
2 No adda masarakan kadakayo, iti aniaman kadagiti ruangan ti siudadyo nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo, siasinoman a lalaki wenno babai a mangaramid iti dakes iti imatang ni Yahweh a Diosyo ken mangsalungasing iti tulagna—
“When you are living in any of the towns [in the land] that Yahweh our God is giving to you, suppose you hear that there is some man or woman who sins by disobeying the agreement that Yahweh has made with you.
3 siasiano man a pimmanaw ken nagrukbab kadagiti sabali a dios ken nagruknoy kadagitoy, iti init man, ti bulan, wenno uray aniaman a makitkita nga adda idiay langit— a saanko nga imbilin,
Suppose someone tells you that that person has worshiped and served other gods, or the sun, or the moon, or the stars.
4 ket no naibaga kadakayo daytoy wenno no nangngeganyo daytoy—ket masapul a mangaramidka iti naannad a panangsukimat. No pudno daytoy ken sigurado a ti kasta a banag a makarimon ket naaramid idiay Israel.
If you hear that some person has been doing that, you must investigate it thoroughly. If [you find out that] it is true that this detestable thing has happened in Israel,
5 —kalpasanna masapul nga iyegyo dayta a lalaki wenno dayta a babai, a nangaramid iti kastoy a dakes a banag iti ruangan ti siudadyo, dayta a lalaki ken babai, ket masapul a batoenyo dayta a tao inggana a matay.
you must take outside the town the man or woman who has done it. Then you must kill that person by throwing stones at him or her.
6 Iti ngiwat ti dua wenno tallo a saksi, masapul a mapapatay isuna, ngem iti ngiwat iti maysa laeng a saksi masapul a saan isuna a mapapatay.
But you are allowed to execute such people only if at least two witnesses testify that they saw them [doing that]. They must not be executed if there is only one witness.
7 Masapul nga ti ima dagiti saksi ti umuna a mangpapatay kenkuana, ket kalpasanna dagiti im-ima dagiti amin a tattao; ket ikkatenyo ti dakes manipud kadakayo.
The (witnesses/ones who saw them doing it) must be the first ones to throw stones at them. Then the other people [MTY] [should throw stones at them]. By doing that, you will get rid of this evil practice among you.”
8 No rumsua ti banag a narigat unay nga ukomenyo—mabalin a maysa a saludsod iti pammapatay wenno saan a naigagara a pannakatay, iti kalintegan ti maysa a tao ken kalintegan ti sabali a tao, wenno maysa a saludsod a kita ti naaramid a panangdangran, wenno sabali a kita a banag— banbanag a saan a pagkikinnaawatan iti uneg kadagiti ruangan ti siudadyo, masapul ngarud a mapankayo iti lugar a piliento ni Yahweh a Diosyo a kas santuariona.
“Sometimes it will be very difficult for a judge to decide what really happened. He might be trying to decide whether, when someone injured or killed another person, he did it accidentally or deliberately. Or he might be trying to decide if some person is suing another person unfairly. If in some town it is very difficult to know what really happened, with the result that the judge cannot decide it, you should go to the place that Yahweh our God has chosen for you [to worship him].
9 Masapul a mapankayo kadagiti papadi, dagiti kaputotan ni levi, ken iti ukom nga agserserbi iti dayta a tiempo; sapulenyonto dagiti pammagbagada ket iteddanto kadakayo ti pangngeddeng.
There you should present the case to the descendants of Levi who are the priests, and to the judge who is serving at that time, and they should decide what should be done.
10 Masapul a surutenyo ti linteg a naited kadakayo, iti disso a piliento ni Yahweh a kas santuariona. Aramidenyonto a naannad dagiti amin a banbanag nga insuroda nga aramidenyo.
After they make their decision, you must do what they tell you to do.
11 Surotenyo ti linteg nga isuroda kadakayo, ken aramidenyo a maiyannurot kadagiti pangngeddeng nga itedda kadakayo. Saankayo a sumisiasi kadagiti ibagada kadakayo, iti makannawan wenno iti makattigid.
Accept what they have decided, and do what they say that you should do. Do not try to change in any way what they have decided [IDM].
12 Siasinoman nga agtignay a sitatangsit, a saan a panangdengdengeg iti padi a nakatakder nga agserbi iti sangoanan ni Yahweh a Diosyo, wenno iti saanna a panangdengdengngeg iti ukom—matayto dayta tao; ikkatenyonto ti dakes manipud iti Israel.
You must execute anyone who proudly/arrogantly disobeys the judge or the priest who stands there in the presence of Yahweh [and decides what should be done]. By doing that, you will get rid of evil practices among you.
13 Masapul a dumngeg ken agbuteng dagiti amin a tattao, ket saandanton nga agtignay a sitatangsit.
Then [after that person is executed], all the people will hear about it, and they will be afraid, and none of them will act that way any more.”
14 Inton makadanonkayo iti daga nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo, ken inton matagikuayo daytoy, ket mangrugikayon nga agnaed iti daytoy, ket kunaenyonto, 'Mangisaadakto iti ari a mangituray kaniak, a kas kadagiti amin nasion nga adda iti aglawlawko,'
“[I know that] after you have occupied the land that Yahweh our God is giving to you, and you are living there, you will say, ‘We should have a king to rule over us, like the kings that other nations around us have.’
15 masapul ngarud a siguradoenyo a mangisaadkayo iti ari a mangituray kadakayo, a piliento ni Yahweh a Diosyo. Masapul a mangisaadkayo iti maysa nga ari a mangituray kadakayo manipud kadagiti kakabsatyo. Saankayo a mangisaad iti maysa a gangannaet, a saanyo a kabsat, a mangituray kadakayo.
Yahweh our God will permit you to have a king, but be sure that you appoint someone whom he has chosen. That man must be an Israeli; you must not appoint someone who is a foreigner to be your king.
16 Ngem masapul a saan isuna nga agpaadu kadagiti kabalio a maipaay iti bagina, wenno pasublienna dagiti tattao idiay Egipto tapno mapaaduna dagiti kabalio, ta insao ni Yahweh kadakayo, 'Masapul a saankayo nga agsubli manen iti dayta a dalan.'
[After he becomes the king], he should not acquire a large number of horses for himself. He should not send people to Egypt to buy horses for him, because Yahweh said to you, ‘Never return to Egypt [for anything’]!
17 Ken masapul a saan isuna nga agpaadu iti asawa a maipaay iti bagina, tapno saan nga umadayo ti pusona manipud kenni Yahweh; wenno masapul a saan isuna nga agpaadu kadagiti pirak ken balitok a maipaay iti bagina.
And he must not have a lot of wives, because if he did that, they would turn him [SYN] away from [worshiping only] Yahweh. And he must not acquire a lot of silver and gold.
18 Inton agtugaw isuna iti trono ti pagarianna, masapul nga isuratna ti kopya daytoy a linteg iti maysa a nalukot a pagbasaan a maipaay iti bagina, manipud iti linteg nga adda iti sangoanan dagiti papadi, a Levita.
“When he becomes your king, he must [appoint someone to] copy these laws. He must copy them from the scroll that is kept by the priests who are descended from Levi.
19 Masapul nga adda kenkuana ti nalukot a pagbasaan, ken masapul a basaenna daytoy iti amin nga aldaw iti panagbiagna, tapno masursurona ti agdayaw kenni Yahweh a Diosna, tapno masalimetmetanna dagiti amin a sasao iti daytoy a linteg ken dagitoy nga alagaden, tapno tungpalenna dagitoy.
He must keep this new scroll near him and read from it every day of his life, in order that he may learn to revere Yahweh, and to faithfully obey [DOU] all the rules and regulations [that are written] in these laws.
20 Masapul nga aramidenna daytoy tapno saan nga agpalangguad kadagiti kakabsatna, ken tapno saan isuna a sumisiasi kadagiti bilbilin, iti makannawan wenno iti makattigid; tapno mapaatiddugma koma dagiti al-aldawna iti pagarianna, isuna ken dagiti annakna, kadagiti Israel.
If he does that, he [SYN] will not think that he is (better/more important) than [IDM] his fellow Israelis, and he will completely obey [LIT] Yahweh’s commands. As a result, he and his descendants will rule as kings in Israel for many years.”
