< Dagiti Aramid 19 >
1 Napasamak a kabayatan nga adda ni Apollos idiay Corinto, nagna ni Pablo iti makinngato a pagilian ket dimteng iti siudad ti Efeso, ken nakasarak sadiay iti sumagmamano nga adalan.
And it came to pass, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper districts, came to Ephesus. And finding certain disciples,
2 Kinuna ni Pablo kadakuada “Inawatyo kadin ti Espiritu Santo idi namatikayo?” Kinunada kenkuana, “Saan, saanminto pay a nangnangngegan ti maipanggep iti Espiritu Santo.”
he said to them, Did ye receive the Holy Spirit when ye believed? And they said to him, No, we did not even hear whether there is a Holy Spirit.
3 Kinuna ni Pablo, “Iti ania ngarud ti nakabautisaranyo?” Kinunada, “Iti bautisar ni Juan.”
And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into John's baptism.
4 Isu a simmungbat ni Pablo, “Nangbautisar ni Juan babaen iti bautismo ti panagbabawi. Imbagana kadagiti tattao a masapul a mamatida iti umay kalpasan kenkuana, dayta ket ni Jesus.”
Then said Paul, John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people, that they should believe on him that was coming after him; that is, on Jesus.
5 Idi nangngegan dagiti tattao daytoy, nabautisaranda iti nagan ni Apo Jesus.
And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 Ket idi impatay ni Pablo dagiti imana kadakuada, immay ti Espiritu Santo kadakuada ket nagsaoda iti sabali a pagsasao ken nagipadtoda.
And when Paul bad laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
7 Agarup sangapulo ket dua da amin a lallaki.
And the men were about twelve in all.
8 Napan ni Pablo iti sinagoga ken situtured isuna a nagsao iti las-ud iti tallo a bulan. Indauloanna ti panagiinnadal ken inal-allukoyna dagiti tattao maipanggep kadagiti banbanag a maipapan iti pagarian ti Dios.
And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for three months, discoursing and persuading concerning the kingdom of God.
9 Ngem idi dagiti dadduma a Judio ket timmangken ken saanda a nagtulnog, nangrugida a nagsao iti dakes maipanggep iti dalan ni Cristo iti sangoanan dagiti adu a tattao. Ngarud, pinanawan ida ni Pablo ken inyadayona dagiti namati manipud kadakuada. Inrugina ti nagsarita iti inaldaw idiay pagisursuroan ni Tirano.
But when some were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of the way [[of the Lord]] before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, discoursing daily in the school of Tyrannus.
10 Nagtultuloy daytoy iti las-ud ti dua a tawen, isu nga amin nga agnanaed idiay Asia ket nangngeganda ti sao ti Apo, dagiti Judio ken dagiti Griego.
And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
11 Nagaramid ti Dios kadagiti agkakabileg nga aramid babaen kadagiti ima ni Pablo,
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul;
12 isu nga uray dagiti masaksakit ket napaimbag, ken rimmuar dagiti dakes nga espiritu kadagiti naluganan, idi innalada dagiti panio ken dagiti biddang manipud iti bagi ni Pablo.
so that even handkerchiefs, or aprons, were carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.
13 Ngem adda met dagiti Judio, a mangpakpaksiat kadagiti dakes nga espiritu, a nagdaldaliasat iti dayta a disso a nangar-aramat iti nagan ni Jesus para iti bukodda a pagsayaatan. Insaoda daytoy kadagiti addaan kadagiti dakes nga espiritu; kinunada, “Bilinenka a pumanaw babaen kenni Jesus nga ikaskasaba ni Pablo. “
Then some of the wandering Jewish exorcists undertook to name over those who had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, I adjure you by that Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 Dagidiay a nangaramid iti daytoy ket dagiti pito nga annak a lallaki ti panguloen a padi a Judio, a ni Sceva.
And there were seven sons of Scevas, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
15 Simmungbat ti dakes nga espiritu kadakuada, “Am-ammok ni Jesus, am-ammok ni Pablo; ngem siasinokayo?”
And the evil spirit answering said, Jesus I knew, and Paul I well know; but who are ye?
16 Limmagto ti lalaki a linuganan iti dakes nga espiritu kadagiti mangpakpaksiat iti dakes nga espiritu ket inabakna ida ken kinabilna ida. Ket lamo-lamo ken sugat-sugatda a pimmanaw iti dayta a balay.
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them both, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 Naammoan iti isu amin daytoy, dagiti Judio ken Griego, nga agnanaed idiay Efeso. Kasta unay ti butengda, ket napadayawan ti nagan ni Apo Jesus.
And this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who dwelt at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18 Kasta met nga adu kadagiti namati ti immay ket impudnoda ken binigbigda dagiti dakes a banbanag nga inaramidda.
And many of the believers came, confessing and declaring their practices.
19 Adu kadagiti salamangkero ti nangurnong kadagiti libroda ken pinuoranda dagitoy iti imatang ti tumunggal maysa. Idi binilangda ti balor dagitoy, limapulo a ribu a piraso iti pirak.
Many also of those who had practised magical arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 Isu a nagwaras ti sao ti Apo iti nabileg a wagas.
So the word of the Lord grew and prevailed mightily.
21 Ita, idi nalpasen ni Pablo ti ministeryona idiay Efeso, inkeddengna iti Espiritu a lasatenna ti Macedonia ken Acaya iti dalanna a mapan idiay Jerusalem; kinunana, “Kalpasan ti panaggapuk sadiay, masapul a kitaek met ti Roma.”
And when these things were ended, Paul resolved to pass through Macedonia and Achaia, and to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
22 Nangibaon ni Pablo idiay Macedonia iti dua kadagiti adalanna, da Timoteo ken Erasto, a timmulong kenkuana. Ngem nagtalinaed pay laeng isuna idiay Asia.
And having sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
23 Iti dayta met laeng a tiempo, adda timmaud a dakkel a riribuk idiay Efeso maipapan iti Dalan.
And about that time there arose no small tumult concerning the faith.
24 Maysa nga agpanpanday iti pirak a managan Demetrio, a nangaramid kadagiti kalanglanga ti didiosen a ni Diana babaen iti pirak, ket nangiyeg iti adu a panggedan para kadagiti agpanpanday.
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, made silver shrines of Diana, and brought no small gain to the craftsmen.
25 Isu nga inurnongna dagiti trabahador iti dayta a trabaho, ket kinunana, “Kakadua, ammoyo a makateggedtayo iti adu a kuarta iti daytoy a panggedan.
And having called them together, with the workmen of like occupation, he said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth;
26 Makitayo ken mangngegyo a saan laeng nga idiay Efeso, ngem nganngani nga iti entero ti Asia, nga inallukoy ken pinatallikud ni Pablo dagiti adu a tattao. Ibagbagana nga awan ti dios a naaramid babaen kadagiti im-ima.
and ye see and hear, that this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, not only of Ephesus, but of almost all Asia, saying, that those are not gods, which are made with hands.
27 Ken saan laeng a ti pagsapulantayo ti agpeggad a saanton a masapul, ngem kasta met a ti templo ti naindaklan a diosa a ni Diana ket maibilangton nga awan serserbina. Ket mapukawnanto uray pay ti kinatan-okna, isuna a daydayawen iti amin nga Asia ken iti sangalubongan.”
And there is not only danger that this branch of our business will come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana will be despised, and her magnificence destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship.
28 Idi nangngeganda daytoy, napnoanda iti pungtot ket nagririyawda, a kunada, “Naindaklan ni Diana a daydayawen dagiti tattao iti Efeso.”
And hearing this they became full of wrath, and kept crying out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians!
29 Napnoan iti pannakariribuk ti entero a siudad, ket nagdardaras dagiti tattao a sangsangkamaysa a napan iti pagbuyaan. Tiniliwda dagiti kakadua ni Pablo iti panagdaliasatna, ni Gayo ken ni Aristarco, a naggapu idiay Macedonia.
And the city was filled with confusion; and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel.
30 Kayat ni Pablo a sumrek iti ayan dagiti adu a tattao, ngem linapdan isuna dagiti adalan.
And when Paul wished to go in to the people, the disciples would not suffer him.
31 Kasta met a dadduma kadagiti opisial ti probinsiya ti Asia a gagayyemna ket nangipatulod iti mensahe a mangibagbaga a saan koma isuna a sumrek iti pagbuyaan.
And some also of the Asiarchs, who were his friends, sent to him, and entreated him not to venture into the theatre.
32 Dadduma a tattao ket nagpukkaw iti maysa a banag, ken dadduma met ket sabali, ta dagiti adu a tattao ket marirriribokan. Kaaduan kadakuada ket saanda nga ammo no apay a naummongda.
Some therefore were crying one thing, and some another; for the assembly was in confusion, and the greater part knew not wherefore they had come together.
33 Inruar dagiti Judio ni Alejandro ken impanda iti sangoanan dagiti tattao. Nagsenyas ni Alejandro babaen iti imana tapno agpalawag kadagiti tattao.
And they brought forward Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward; and Alexander beckoned with his hand, desiring to make his defence to the people.
34 Ngem idi naamirisda nga isuna ket maysa a Judio, inriyawda amin a sangsangkamaysa iti las-ud ti dua nga oras, “Naindaklan ni Diana dagiti tattao ti Efeso.”
But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice for about two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians!
35 Idi pinatalna ti sekretario ti ili dagiti adu a tattao, kinunana, “Dakayo a lallaki iti Efeso, adda kadi lalaki ditoy a saan a makaammo a ti siudad dagiti tattao ti Efeso ket banbantayanna ti templo ti natan-ok a Diana ken ti kalanglangana a natinnag manipud langit?
But when the Recorder had quieted the multitude, he said, Men of Ephesus, who is there among men that doth not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the great Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
36 Kas nakitayo ngarud a dagitoy a banbanag ket saan a mailibak, rebbengna laeng koma nga agulimekkayo ken saankayo nga agaramid iti saan a nasayaat.
Since then these things cannot be denied, ye ought to be quiet, and do nothing rashly.
37 Ta inyegyo dagitoy a lallaki ditoy a pangukoman, ket saanda met nga agtatakaw kadagiti templo wenno mannagtabbaaw iti diostayo.
For ye have brought hither these men, who are neither robbers of temples, nor blasphemers of your goddess.
38 Ngarud, no ni Demetrio ken dagiti agtrabtrabaho a kaduana ket addaan ti pammabasol a maibusor iti siasinoman, dagiti pangukoman ket silulukat ken adda met dagiti 'ukom.' Bay-anyo nga agpipinnabasolda.
If then Demetrius and the craftsmen with him have a complaint against any one, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls; let them bring their charges against each other.
39 Ngem no maipanggep iti sabali pay a banbanag ti sapsapulenyo, masapul nga maurnos a dagus iti kadawyan a panaguummong.
But if ye ask for any thing further, it shall be determined in the lawful assembly.
40 Ta pudno unay nga agpeggadtayo a mapabasol maipapan ti riribuk a napasamak iti daytoy nga aldaw. Awan ti makagapu iti daytoy a riribuk, ken saanmi a kabaelan nga ilawlawag daytoy.”
For we are in danger of being called to answer concerning this day's riot, there being no ground on which we shall be able to give an account of this concourse.
41 Idi naibagana daytoy, pinagawidna dagiti naummong.
And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
