< II Samuel 24 >
1 Simged manen ti pungtot ni Yahweh iti Israel, ken tinignayna ni David a bumusor kadakuada a kunana, “Mapanka ket bilangem ti Israel ken Juda.”
And the anger of Jehovah addeth to burn against Israel, and [an adversary] moveth David about them, saying, 'Go, number Israel and Judah.'
2 Kinuna ti ari kenni Joab a pangulo dagiti armada, a kaduana, “Mapanka kadagiti amin a tribu ti Israel, manipud Dan agingga idiay Beerseba, ket bilangem amin a tattao, tapno ammok ti pakadagupan a bilang dagiti tattao a mabalin a makigubat.”
And the king saith unto Joab, head of the host that [is] with him, 'Go to and fro, I pray thee, through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, and inspect ye the people — and I have known the number of the people.'
3 Kinuna ni Joab iti ari, “Paaduen koma ni Yahweh a Diosmo ti bilang dagiti tattao iti mamingasut a daras, ket makita koma ti apok nga ari a mapasamak daytoy. Ngem apay a kayat ti apok nga ari daytoy?”
And Joab saith unto the king, 'Yea, Jehovah thy God doth add unto the people, as they are, a hundred times, and the eyes of my lord the king are seeing; and my lord the king, why is he desirous of this thing?'
4 Nupay kasta, ti sao ti ari ket saanen a mabaliwan ni Joab ken dagiti pangulo ti armada. Isu a pimmanaw da Joab ken dagiti pangulo ti armada iti sangoanan ti ari tapno bilangenda dagiti tattao ti Israel.
And the word of the king is severe towards Joab, and against the heads of the force, and Joab goeth out, and the heads of the force, [from] before the king to inspect the people, even Israel;
5 Binallasiwda ti Jordan ket nagkampoda idiay asideg ti Aroer, iti abagatan ti siudad idiay tanap. Kalpasanna, nagdaliasatda idiay Gad agingga idiay Jazer.
and they pass over the Jordan, and encamp in Aroer, on the right of the city that [is] in the midst of the brook of Gad, and unto Jazer,
6 Dimtengda idiay Galaad ken idiay daga ti Tatim Hodsi, ket intuloyda a nagdaliasat a nagturong idiay Dan Jaan ket nanglikawda a napan idiay Sidon.
and they come in to Gilead, and unto the land of Tahtim-Hodshi, and they come in to Dan-Jaan, and round about unto Zidon,
7 Nakadanunda iti nasarikedkedan a paset ti Tiro ken kadagiti amin siudad dagiti Heveo ken dagiti Cananeo. Kalpasanna, rimmuarda idiay Negev a paset ti Juda idiay Beerseba.
and they come in to the fortress of Tyre, and all the cities of the Hivite, and of the Canaanite, and go out unto the south of Judah, to Beer-Sheba.
8 Idi nasursordan ti entero a daga, nagsublida idiay Jerusalem kalpasan iti siam a bulan ken duapulo nga aldaw.
And they go to and fro through all the land, and come in at the end of nine months and twenty days to Jerusalem,
9 Ket impadamag ni Joab iti ari ti kadagupan a bilang dagiti mannakigubat a lallaki. Idiay Israel, adda iti walo gasut a ribu a natutured a lallaki a makabael a mangasot iti kampilan, ken lima gasut a ribu a lallaki iti Juda.
and Joab giveth the account of the inspection of the people unto the king, and Israel is eight hundred thousand men of valour, drawing sword, and the men of Judah five hundred thousand men.
10 Ket nariribuk ti puso ni David kalpasan a binilangna dagiti lallaki. Isu a kinunana kenni Yahweh, “Nakabasolak iti nadagsen gapu iti panangaramidko iti daytoy. Ngarud, Yahweh, punasem ti basol daytoy adipenmo, gapu ta minamaag unay ti panagtignayko.
And the heart of David smiteth him, after that he hath numbered the people, and David saith unto Jehovah, 'I have sinned greatly in that which I have done, and now, O Jehovah, cause to pass away, I pray Thee, the iniquity of Thy servant, for I have acted very foolishly.'
11 Idi bimmangon ni David iti agsapa, immay ti sao ni Yahweh kenni Gad a profeta, ti profeta ni David, kunana,
And David riseth in the morning, and the word of Jehovah hath been unto Gad the prophet, seer of David, saying,
12 “Mapanmo ibaga kenni David: 'Kastoy ti ibagbaga ni Yahweh: “Ikkanka iti tallo a pagpiliam. Mangpilika iti maysa kadagitoy.”'”
'Go, and thou hast spoken unto David, Thus said Jehovah: Three — I am lifting up for thee, choose thee one of them, and I do [it] to thee.'
13 Isu a napan ni Gad kenni David ket kinunana kenkuana, “Kayatmo kadi nga umay ti panagbisin iti dagam iti tallo a tawen? Wenno tallo a bulan nga itartarayam dagiti kabusormo kabayatan a kamkamatendaka? Wenno adda ti tallo nga aldaw a didigra iti dagam? Ita, manggeddengka no ania a sungbat ti rumbeng nga ibagak iti nangibaon kaniak.”
And Gad cometh in unto David, and declareth to him, and saith to him, 'Do seven years of famine come in to thee in thy land? or three months art thou fleeing before thine adversary — and he pursuing thee? or are three days' pestilence in thy land? now, know and see what word I take back to Him sending me.'
14 Ket kinuna ni David kenni Gad, “Narikut ti sasaadek. Kadagiti ima lattan ni Yahweh ti pakatnagan tayo a saan ket a kadagiti ima dagiti tattao, gapu ta manangaasi unay isuna.”
And David saith unto Gad, 'I have great distress, let us fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Jehovah, for many [are] His mercies, and into the hand of man let me not fall.'
15 Isu a nangiyeg ni Yahweh iti didigra iti Israel manipud iti agsapa agingga iti naituding a tiempo, ket pitopulo a ribu a tattao ti natay manipud iti Dan agingga iti Beerseba.
And Jehovah giveth a pestilence on Israel from the morning even unto the time appointed, and there die of the people, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, seventy thousand men,
16 Idi inyunnat ti anghel ti imana iti Jerusalem tapno dadaelenna daytoy, nagbaliw ti panunot ni Yahweh maipapan iti didigra ket kinunana iti anghel a mangdaddadael kadagiti tattao, “Kuston! Itan, ibabam ti imam.” Iti dayta a tiempo, agtaktakder ti anghel ni Yahweh iti pagirikan ni Arauna a Jebuseo.
and the messenger putteth forth his hand to Jerusalem to destroy it, and Jehovah repenteth concerning the evil, and saith to the messenger who is destroying among the people, 'Enough, now, cease thy hand;' and the messenger of Jehovah was near the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 Ket kinasarita ni David ni Yahweh idi nakitana ti anghel a nangraut kadagiti tattao ket kinunana, “Nakabasolak ken nakaaramidak iti saan a nasayaat. Ngem dagitoy a karnero, ania ti inaramidda? Pangaasim, ta imam koma ti mangdusa kaniak ken iti pamilia ti amak!”
And David speaketh unto Jehovah, when he seeth the messenger who is smiting among the people, and saith, 'Lo, I have sinned, yea, I have done perversely; and these — the flock — what have they done? Let, I pray Thee, Thy hand be on me, and on the house of my father.'
18 Ket iti dayta nga aldaw, napan ni Gad kenni David ket kinunana kenkuana, “Sumang-atka ket agpatakderka iti altar para kenni Yahweh idiay pagirikan ni Arauna a Jebuseo.”
And Gad cometh in unto David on that day, and saith to him, 'Go up, raise to Jehovah an altar in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite;'
19 Simang-at ngarud ni David a kas imbaga ni Gad nga aramidenna, kas imbilin ni Yahweh.
and David goeth up, according to the word of Gad, as Jehovah commanded.
20 Timman-aw ni Arauna ket nakitana ti ari ken dagiti adipenna a sumungsungad. Isu a rimmuar ni Arauna ket nagkurno iti sangoanan ti ari a nakadisso ti rupana iti daga.
And Araunah looketh, and seeth the king and his servants passing over unto him, and Araunah goeth out and boweth himself to the king — his face to the earth.
21 Ket kinuna ni Arauna, “Apay nga imay kaniak nga adipenna ti apok nga ari?” Insungbat ni David, “Tapno umayko gatangen ti pagirikam, iti kasta ket makaipatakderak iti altar para kenni Yahweh, tapno maikkat ti didigra kadagiti tattao.”
And Araunah saith, 'Wherefore hath my lord the king come unto his servant?' and David saith, 'To buy from thee the threshing-floor, to build an altar to Jehovah, and the plague is restrained from the people.'
22 Kinuna ni Arauna kenni David, “Alaem daytoy a kas kukuam apok nga ari. Aramidem iti daytoy ti ammom a nasayaat iti panagkitam. Kitaem, adtoy dagiti baka para iti daton a mapuoran ken dagiti pagirik ken sangol ti baka a pagsungrod.
And Araunah saith unto David, 'Let my lord the king take and cause to ascend that which is good in his eyes; see, the oxen for a burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments, and the instruments of the oxen, for wood;'
23 Siak ni Arauna, amin dagitoy apok nga ari ket itedko kenka.” Kalpasanna, kinunana iti ari, “Sapay koma ta awatennaka ni Yahweh a Diosmo.”
the whole hath Araunah given, [as] a king to a king; and Araunah saith unto the king, 'Jehovah thy God doth accept thee.'
24 Kinuna ti ari kenni Arauna, “Saan, ipilitko a gatangek daytoy iti umno a gatad.” Saanak nga agidaton iti kas daton a mapuoran para kenni Yahwen iti aniaman a banag a saanko a naggastusan” Isu a ginatang ni David ti pagirikan ken dagiti baka iti limapulo a siklo ti pirak.
And the king saith unto Araunah, 'Nay, for I do surely buy from thee for a price, and I do not cause to ascend to Jehovah my God burnt-offerings for nought;' and David buyeth the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver,
25 Nangipatakder sadiay ni David iti altar para kenni Yahweh ket nagidaton iti rabaw daytoy kadagiti daton a mapuoran ken kadagiti daton a pakilangenlangen. Isu a kinaasian ni Yahweh ti daga ket simardeng ti didigra iti Israel.
and David buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and causeth to ascend burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and Jehovah is entreated for the land, and the plague is restrained from Israel.
