< II Samuel 17 >

1 Kalpasanna, kinuna ni Ahitofel kenni Absalom, “Ita palubosannak a pumili iti 12, 000 a lallaki, ken bumangonakto ket kamatek ni David inton rabii.
Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.
2 Mapanakto kenkuana inton nabannog ken nakapuy isuna ket maklaatto isuna gapu iti buteng. Agtatarayto dagiti tattao a kaduana, ket ti laeng ari iti darupek.
And I will catch up with him while he is weary and discouraged, and will thow him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. And I will strike the king alone.
3 Isublikto dagiti amin a tattao kenka, kas iti panagsubli iti nobia iti asawana, ket addaanto iti talna iti panagturaymo dagiti amin a tattao.”
Then all the people will come back to you, as a bride returns to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be in peace."
4 Naay-ayo ni Absalom ken dagiti amin a panglakayen iti Israel iti imbaga ni Ahitofel.
And the advice seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel.
5 Kinuna ngarud ni Absalom, “Ita ayabanyo met ni Cusai nga Arkita, ket denggentayo no ania iti makunana.”
Then Absalom said, "Now call Hushai the Archite, and let's hear what he says."
No saan, ibagam kadakami no ania ti maibalakadmo.”
When Hushai came to Absalom, Absalom said to him, "Ahithophel has spoken thus. Should we follow his advice? And if not, speak up."
7 Kinuna ni Cusai kenni Absalom, “Saan a nasayaat iti daytoy a kanito ti balakad ni Ahitofel.”
So Hushai said to Absalom, "The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good."
8 Kinuna pay ni Cusai, “Ammom a nabileg a mannakigubat ti amam ken dagiti tattaona, ket makaungetda, kasda la oso a natakaw dagiti urbonna iti kataltalonan. Maysa a mannakigubat iti amam; saan isuna a makikadua a maturog kadagiti soldadona ita a rabii.
Moreover, Hushai said, "You know your father and his men, that they are warriors, and that they are as fierce as a bear robbed of her cubs in the wild, or a sow snared in the wild. Your father is expert in war, and will not camp with the people.
9 Kitaem, nalabit nga ita a kanito ket nakalemmeng isuna iti maysa nga abut wenno iti sabali a lugar. Mapasamakto nga inton mapapatay iti sumagmamano kadagiti tattaom iti rugrugi iti raut, ibaganto iti siasinoman a makangngeg iti daytoy, 'Adda pannakapapatay kadagiti soldado a sumurot kenni Absalom.'
Look, he is now hidden in some pit, or in some other place. And it will happen when some of them have fallen first, that whoever hears it will say, 'There is a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom.'
10 Ket uray dagiti katuturedan a soldado, a kasla agpuspuso a leon, agbutengto gapu ta ammo iti amin nga Israel a maysa a maingel a tao ti amam, ken napipigsa unay dagiti tattaona.
Then even the one who is brave, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will utterly melt; for all Israel knows that your father is a warrior, and those who are with him are brave men.
11 Isu nga ibalakadko kenka a pagmaymaysaem koma nga ummongen dagiti amin nga Israel kenka, manipud Dan agingga iti Beerseba, a kas kaado dagiti darat iti baybay, ket mapanka a mismo a makigubat.
But, I strongly advise as follows: Let all Israel be gathered to you from Dan to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea in number, and that you personally go into battle.
12 Mapankaminto kenkuana sadinoman a pakasapulan kenkuana, ket kalubanmi isuna a kas iti panagtinnag ti linnaaw iti daga. Awanto ti ibatimi uray maysa kadagiti tattaona, wenno isuna a mismo, a sibibiag.
So we will come upon him in some place where he can be found, and we will fall on him as the dew falls on the ground, and of him and all the men with him not one will be left.
13 No agkamang isuna iti maysa a siudad, ket mangipanto kadagiti tali dagiti amin nga Israel iti dayta a siudad ket iguyodminto daytoy iti karayan, agingga nga awanton uray maysa a bassit a bato a masarakan sadiay.”
Moreover, if he withdraws into a city, then all Israel will take up ropes to that city, and we will drag it into the riverbed, until there isn't one pebble to be found there."
14 Kinuna ngarud ni Absalom ken dagiti tattao ti Israel, “Nasaysayaat ti balakad ni Cusai nga Arkita ngem iti balakad ni Ahitofel.” Ta inkeddeng ni Yahweh iti pannakalaksid iti nasayaat a balakad ni Ahitofel tapno maiyeg iti pannakadadael kenni Absalom.
Then Absalom and all Israel said, "The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel." For the LORD had commanded that Ahithophel's counsel should be defeated, so that that the LORD could bring Absalom to ruin.
15 Kalpasanna, kinuna ni Cusai kada Zadok ken Abiatar a papadi, “Binalakadan ni Ahitofel ni Absalom ken dagiti panglakayen ti Israel iti kasta, ken kastoy a wagas, ngem adda iti maysa a banag nga imbalakadko.
Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the cohanim, "Here is the council Ahithophel gave Absalom and the elders of Israel, and here is what I counseled.
16 Ita ngarud, agapurakayo ket inkayo ipadamag kenni David; ' Saankayo nga agkampo inton rabii iti pagballasiwan iti Araba, ngem aramidenyo iti amin a pamusposan tapno makaballasiwkayo, ta no saan ket maalun-on ti ari agraman dagiti amin a tattao a kaduana.'”
Now therefore send quickly and tell David, saying, 'Do not stay the night at the fords of the wilderness, but by all means pass over. Otherwise the king and all the people who are with him will be swallowed up.'"
17 Ita, adda nga agur-uray da Jonatan ken Ahimaas idiay igid iti ubbog ti Rogel; adda maysa nga adipen a babai a kadawyan a mapan agidanon kadagiti mensahe kadakuada. Kalpasanna mapanda ibaga kenni Ari David, tapno saan ida a makita a mapmapan iti siudad.
Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying at En Rogel, and a female servant was to go and tell them, and they would go and inform king David. For they were not to be seen going into the city.
18 Ngem iti daytoy a tiempo, nakita ida iti maysa a bumarito ket imbagana kenni Absalom. Isu a sidadaras a pimmanaw ni Jonatan ken ni Ahimaas ket napanda iti balay ti maysa a tao idiay Bahurim, addaan daytoy a lalaki iti bubon iti paraanganna, nga isu ti bimmabaanda.
But a young man saw them and told Absalom. So they both departed quickly and reached the house of a man in Bahurim who had a well in his courtyard, and they went down into it.
19 Innala iti asawa ti lalaki ti pagkalub iti bubon ket inyabbongna daytoy iti ngarab ti bubon, ken winarisanna kadagiti bukbukel iti rabaw daytoy, isu nga awan ti makaammo nga adda iti uneg ti bubon da Jonathan ken Ahimaas.
And the woman took a covering and spread it over the top of the well and scattered some grain on it, so that nothing could be noticed.
20 Napan dagiti tattao ni Absalom iti balay ti babai ket kinunada, “Sadino ti ayan da Ahimaas ken Jonatan?” Imbaga ti babai kadakuada, “Nagaballasiwda iti karayan.” Kalpasan a kinitada iti aglawlaw ket saanda ida a nasarakan, nagsublida idiay Jerusalem.
Then Absalom's servants came to the woman at the house, and they asked, "Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?" And the woman said to them, "They have crossed the brook of water." And when they had searched and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 Ket naaramid kalpasan a nakapanawda, rimuar da Jonatan ken Ahimaas iti bubon. Napanda impadamag kenni Ari David; imbagada kenkuana, “Tumakderkayo ket partakanyo ti bumallasiw iti danum gapu ta nagibalakad iti kasta ken kastoy ni Ahitofel maipapan kadakayo.”
It came about after they had left that they climbed out of the well, and left and told king David. And they said to him, "Get up and cross quickly over the water, for Ahithophel has given such and such counsel against you."
22 Timmakder ngarud ni David ken dagiti amin a tattao a kaduana, ket binallasiwda ti Jordan. Awan uray maysa kadakuada iti saan a nakaballasiw iti Karayan Jordan sakbay nga aglawag iti agsapa.
Then David and all the people who were with him got up and they crossed the Jordan. By dawn there was no one left who had not crossed the Jordan.
23 Idi naammoan ni Ahitofel a saan a nasurot ti balakadna, sinillianna ti asnona sa pimmanaw. Nagawid isuna iti bukodna a siudad, inurnosna iti balayna, sana imbitin ti bagina. Iti kastoy a wagas natay isuna ken naitabon iti tanem ni amana.
Now when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and went up to his home in his city. Then he set his house in order and hanged himself, and he died and was buried in the tomb of his father.
24 Kalpasanna, dimteng ni David iti Mahanaim. Kasta met ni Absalom, binallasiwna ti Jordan, isuna ken amin dagiti tattao iti Israel a kaduana.
Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom crossed the Jordan, he and all Israel with him.
25 Ket insaad ni Absalom ni Amasa a mangidaulo iti armada imbes a ni Joab. Ni Amasa ket putot a lalaki ni Jeter nga Israelita, a nakikaidda kenni Abigail a putot a babai ni Naas ken kabsat a babai ni Zeruyas, nga ina ni Joab.
And Absalom had put Amasa over the army in place of of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Jether the Ishmaelite, who had married Abigail the daughter of Jesse, sister to Zeruiah, Joab's mother.
26 Kalpasanna, nagkampo ni Absalom iti daga ti Galaad.
So Israel and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
27 Ket naaramid idi nakadanun ni David iti Mahanaim, a ni Sobi a putto a lalaki ni Naas iti Ammonita a taga Raba, ken ni Makir a putto ni Amiel a taga Lodebar, ken ni Barzillai a maysa a Galaadita a taga Rogelim,
Now it happened when David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Makir the son of Ammiel of Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
28 ket nangiyegda kadagiti ikamen ken ules, malukong ken banga, ken trigo, arina a naaramid manipud iti sebada, nakirog a bukel, bukel ti utong, patani,
brought couches for sleeping, and covers, and basins, and pottery utensils, and wheat, and barley, and meal, and parched grain, and beans, and lentils,
29 diro, mantikilya, karnero, ken keso. Tapno makapangan ni David ken dagiti tattao a kaduana. Kinuna dagitoy a tattao, “Mabisin dagiti tattao, nabannog, ken mawaw idiay let-ang.”
and honey, and curd of the flock, and cheese of the herd. And they presented them to David and to the people who were with him to eat. For they said, "The people are hungry and tired and thirsty in the wilderness."
