II Samuel 11
1 Napasamak daytoy iti panawen a panagtutubo dagiti mulmula, iti tiempo a kadawyan a mapan makigubat dagiti ari, imbaon ni David ni Joab, dagiti adipenna, ken amin nga armada ti Israel. Dinadaelda ti armada ti Ammon ken linakubda ti Rabba. Ngem nagtalinaed ni David iti Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time of the going forth of kings, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel, and they destroyed the sons of Ammon, and laid siege to Rabbah, —but, David, was remaining in Jerusalem.
2 Ket napasamak iti maysa a rabii a bimmangon iti pagiddaanna ni David ken nagpagnapagna iti tuktok ti palasiona. Manipud sadiay, natannawaganna iti maysa a babai nga agdigdigus, ken nakapinpintas unay a kitkitaen ti babai.
And it came to pass that, at eventide, David arose from his couch, and walked to and fro on the roof of the king’s house, when, from the roof, he saw a woman bathing herself, —the woman being exceeding beautiful to look upon.
3 Isu a nangibaon ni David ken nagsaludsod kadagiti tattao no siasino ti makaam-ammo iti babai. Adda maysa a nangibaga, “Saan kadi a daytoy ni Batseba a putot a babai ni Eliam, ken saan kadi nga isuna ti asawa ni Urias a Heteo?”
And David sent and enquired after the woman, —and one said—Is not, this, Bath-sheba, daughter of Eliam, wife of Uriah the Hittite?
4 Nangibaon ni David kadagiti mensahero ket innalada ti babai; napan ti babai kenni David ket kinaiddana isuna (ta kalkalpas ni Batseba a nangannong iti binulan a seremonia ti pannakadalus gapu iti panagreglana). Kalpasanna, nagawid ti babai iti balayna.
And David sent messengers, and fetched her, and she came in unto him, and he lay with her, she having purified herself from her uncleanness, —and she returned unto her own house.
5 Nagnginaw ti babai, nangibaon isuna ket imbagana kenni David, “Masikogak.”
And the woman, having conceived, sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
6 Ket nangibaon ni David iti ayan ni Joab a kinunana, “Ibaonmo kaniak ni Urias a Heteo.” Isu nga imbaon ni Joab ni Urias a mapan kenni David.
Then sent David unto Joab, Send unto me Uriah the Hittite. So Joab sent Uriah unto David.
7 Idi makadanon ni Urias, dinamag ni David no kumusta ni Joab, ti armada, ken ti gubat.
And, when Uriah had come in unto him, David asked—how Joab prospered, and how the people prospered, and how the war prospered.
8 Kinuna ni David kenni Urias, “Bumabaka idiay balaymo, ket buggoam dagiti sakam.” Isu a pinanawan ni Urias ti palasio ti ari ket nangipatulod iti maysa a sagut ti ari para kenni Urias kalpasan a nakapanaw isuna.
Then said David unto Uriah, Go down unto thy house, and bathe thy feet. And, when Uriah went out of the house of the king, there followed him, a present from the king.
9 Ngem naturog ni Urias iti ruangan ti palasio ti ari a kadua dagiti amin nga adipen ti apona, ket saan isuna a bimmaba iti balayna.
But Uriah slept at the entrance of the king’s house, with all the servants of his lord, —and went not down unto his own house.
10 Idi imbagada kenni David, “Saan a bimmaba ni Urias iti balayna,” Kinuna ni David kenni Urias, “Saan kadi a kasangsangpetmo manipud iti panagdaliasat? Apay a saanka a bimmaba iti balaymo?”
And it was told David, saying, Uriah went not down, unto his own house. So David said unto Uriah—Was it not, from a journey, thou didst come? why, then, hast thou not been down unto thine own house?
11 Simmungbat ni Urias, “Adda kadagiti tolda ti Lakasa ti Tulag, ti Israel ken ti Juda, nakakampo pay iti nalawa a tay-ak ni apok a Joab ken dagiti adipen ti apok. Kasanoak a mapan iti balayko tapno mangan, uminom ken makikaidda iti asawak? Agingga a sibibiagka apo ari, saankonto nga aramiden dayta.”
And Uriah said unto David—The ark, and Israel and Judah, are dwelling in huts and, my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, on the face of the field, are encamped, Was, I, then, to enter my own house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? By thy life, yea by the life of thy soul, I could not do this thing.

Then said David unto Uriah—Abide here to-day also, and, to-morrow, will I let thee go. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.
13 Idi inayaban ni David isuna, nangan ken imminom isuna iti sangoananna, ket binartek isuna ni David. Iti dayta a rabii, rimmuar ni Urias tapno maturog iti pagiddaanna a kaduana dagiti adipen ti apona; saan isuna a bimmaba iti balayna.
And David called him, and he did eat before him, and drank, and he made him drunk, —and he went forth in the evening to lie down on his bed, with the servants of his lord, but, unto his own house, went he not down.
14 Isu nga iti kinabigatanna, nagsurat ni David kenni Joab, ket impatulodna daytoy iti ima ni Urias.
And so it was, in the morning, that David wrote a letter unto Joab, —and sent it by the hand of Uriah;
15 Kinuna ni David iti suratna, “Ikabilmo ni Urias iti sango iti nainget a gubat, ket agsanudkayo manipud kenkuana tapno matamaan isuna ket matay.”
and he wrote in the letter, saying, —Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he be smitten and die.
16 Isu a bayat ti panangbuya ni Joab ti pananglakub iti siudad, pinagpuestona ni Urias iti disso nga ammona a pagkirangetan dagiti kapipigsaan a soldado dagiti kabusor.
So it came to pass, when Joab was laying siege to the city, that he put Uriah in the place where he knew that the men of valour, were.
17 Idi rimmuar dagiti lallaki iti siudad ket nakirangetda iti armada ni Joab, nattuang ti sumagmamano kadagiti soldado ni David, ket natay met sadiay ni Urias a Heteo.
And forth sallied the men of the city, and fought with Joab, and there fell some of the people, of the servants of David, —then died also, Uriah the Hittite.
18 Idi nangibaon ni Joab iti damag kenni David iti amin a napasamak maipapan iti gubat,
So Joab sent and told David all the news of the battle;
19 binilinna ti mensahero a kinunana, “No malpasmo nga ibaga iti ari ti amin a banag maipapan iti gubat,
and he charged the messenger saying, —When thou hast ended all the news of the battle, in speaking unto the king,
20 nalabit a makaungetto ti ari ket kunananto kenka, 'Apay nga immasidegkayo unay iti siudad a makiranget? Saanyo kadi nga ammo nga agpanada manipud iti pader?
then shall it be, if the king’s anger arise, and he say unto thee, Why came ye near unto the city, to fight? Knew ye not, that they would shoot from off the wall?
21 Siasino ti nangpatay kenni Abimelec a putot ni Jerobaal? Saan kadi a maysa a babai ti nangipuruak iti gilingan a bato kenkuana manipud iti pader, isu a natay isuna idiay Tebes? Apay nga immasidegkayo unay iti pader?' Ket kastoyto ti isungbatmo, 'Natay met ti adipenmo a ni Urias a Heteo.'”
Who smote Abimelech son of Jerubbaal? Did not, a woman, cast on him an upper millstone from off the wall, that he died, in Thebez? Wherefore came ye near unto the wall? Then shalt thou say—Moreover, thy servant, Uriah the Hittite, died.
22 Isu a pimmanaw ti mensahero, napan kenni David ket imbagana amin nga imbilin ni Joab kenkuana.
And the messenger went his way, —and came in, and told David, all that Joab had sent him [to tell].
23 Kinuna ti mensahero kenni David, “Idi un-unana, napigpigsa dagiti kabusor ngem kadakami; rimmuarda ket dimmarupda kadakami idiay tay-ak, ngem naabogmi ida a pasubli iti pagserrekan ti ruangan.”
And the messenger said unto David, The men were too strong for us, and sallied forth against us, in the field, —so we were drawn against them as far as the opening of the gate.
24 Manipud iti tuktok ti pader, pinana dagiti pumapana dagiti adipenmo ket napapatay ti sumagmamano kadagiti adipen ti ari ken napapatay met ti adipenmo a ni Urias a Heteo”
Then did the archers shoot upon thy servants, from off the wall, and there died some of the servants of the king, —moreover also, thy servant, Uriah the Hittite, died.
25 Kinuna ni David iti mensahero, “Ibagam daytoy kenni Joab, 'Saanmo nga ipalubos a paglidayennaka daytoy, ta alun-onen ti kampilan ti maysa kasta met ti sabali. Papigsaenyo pay ti pannakirangetyo maibusor iti siudad, ket dadaelenyo daytoy,' Ken pabilegem ni Joab.”
Then said David unto the messenger—Thus, shalt thou say unto Joab, —Let not this thing be grievous in thine eyes, for, now this one, and then that one, doth the sword devour, —make hot thy battle against the city, and overthrow it; Thus embolden thou him.
26 Isu nga idi nangngeg iti asawa ni Urias a natayen ti asawana, nagdung-aw isuna iti nakaro para iti asawana.
And, when Uriah’s wife heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made loud lamentation over her lord.
27 Idi nalpasen ti panagladingitna, nangibaon ni David ket inyawidna ti babai iti palasiona, nagbalin isuna nga asawana ket nangipasngay iti maysa a lalaki. Ngem saan a naay-ayo ni Yahweh iti inaramid ni David.
And, when the time of mourning had passed, David sent and received her into his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing which David had done was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh.
