< 2 Cronicas 10 >
1 Napan ni Rehoboam idiay Sikem, gapu ta napan dagiti adu a tattao ti Israel idiay Sikem tapno isaadda isuna nga ari.
Now Rehoboam set out for Shechem. For in that place all of Israel had convened, so that they might appoint him as king.
2 Ket napasamak a nadamag daytoy ni Jeroboam nga anak ni Nebat (ta adda isuna idiay Egipto, a nagtarayanna manipud kenni Ari Solomon; ngem nagsubli ni Jeroboam manipud iti Egipto).
But when Jeroboam, the son of Nabat, who was in Egypt, (indeed he had fled to that place from Solomon) had heard it, he promptly returned.
3 Isu a nangibaonda iti mapan mangayab kenkuana, ket immay ni Jeroboam ken dagiti amin a tattao ti Israel; kinasaritada ni Rehoboam ket kinunada,
And they summoned him, and he arrived with all of Israel. And they spoke to Rehoboam, saying:
4 “Pinadagsen ti amam ti sangolmi. Ita ngarud, palakaem ti narigat nga impatrabaho ti amam, ken palag-anem ti nadagsen a sangol nga impabaklayna kadakami, ket agserbikaminto kenka.”
“Your father pressed upon us a very difficult yoke. You should govern us more lightly than your father, who imposed on us a heavy servitude, and so lift up some of the burden, so that we may serve you.”
5 Kinuna ni Rehoboam kadakuada, “Umaykayo manen kaniak kalpasan iti tallo nga aldaw.” Isu a pimmanaw dagiti tattao.
But he said, “Return to me after three days.” And when the people had gone away,
6 Nakiuman ni Ari Rehoboam kadagiti lallakay a nagserbi idi a kas mammagbaga ken ni Solomon nga amana idi sibibiag pay laeng isuna; kinunana, “Ania ti maibalakadyo kaniak nga isungbatko kadagitoy a tattao?”
he took counsel with the elders, who had stood before his father Solomon while he was still living, saying, “What counsel would you give to me, so that I may respond to the people?”
7 Kinasaoda isuna ket kinunada, “No naimbagka kadagitoy a tattao ken ay-ayoem ida, ken agsaoka kadagiti nasasayaat kadakuada, ket adipenmonto ida a kanayon.”
And they said to him, “If you please this people, and if you soothe them with words of clemency, they will be your servants for all days.”
8 Ngem saan nga inkaskaso ni Rehoboam ti pammagbaga dagiti lallakay kenkuana, ket nakiuman isuna kadagiti agtutubo a lallaki a kasadaranna a dimmakkel, a mammagbaga itan kenkuana.
But he set aside the counsel of the elders, and he began to have discussion with the youth, who had been raised with him and who were among his companions.
9 Kinunana kadakuada, “Ania ti maibalakadyo kaniak, tapno masungbatantayo dagiti tattao a nangibaga kaniak a kinunada, 'Palag-anem ti sangol nga impabaklay ti amam kadakami'?”
And he said to them: “How does it seem to you? Or how should I respond to this people, who have said to me, ‘Lift up the yoke that your father imposed upon us?’”
10 Nakisarita kenni Rehoboam dagiti agtutubo a lallaki a kasadaranna a dimmakkel a kunada, “Kasaritam dagiti tattao a nangibaga kenka a pinadagsen ni Solomon nga amam dagiti sangolda ket masapul a palag-anem dagitoy. Rumbeng nga ibagam kadakuada, 'Napuspuskol ti kikitko ngem iti siket ti amak.
But they responded like youths, having been raised with him in luxury, and they said: “So shall you speak to the people, who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy; you should lighten it,’ and so shall you respond to them: ‘My little finger is thicker than the back of my father.
11 Isu nga ita, uray no pinabaklaynakayo ti amak iti nadagsen a sangol, padagsenekto pay ti sangolyo. Dinusanakayo ti amak babaen kadagiti baut, ngem dusaenkayo babaen kadagiti kasla kadagiti manggagama.”'
My father imposed a heavy yoke upon you, and I will place more weight upon it. My father cut you with whips; truly, I will beat you with scorpions.’”
12 Napan ngarud ni Jeroboam ken dagiti adu a tattao kenni Rehoboam iti maikatlo nga aldaw, a kas imbilin ti ari idi kinunana, “Agsublikayo kaniak inton maikatlo nga aldaw.”
Then Jeroboam, and the entire people, went to Rehoboam on the third day, just as he had instructed them.
13 Nagubsang ti panangsungbat ti ari kadakuada; saan nga inkaskaso ni Ari Rehoboam ti balakad dagiti lallakay.
And the king responded harshly, abandoning the counsel of the elders.
14 Nagsao isuna kadakuada a kas iti balakad dagiti agtutubo a lallaki; kinunana, “Padagsenekto pay dagiti sangolyo; nayonakto pay dagitoy. Dinusanakayo ti amak babaen kadagiti baut, ngem dusaenkayonto babaen kadagiti kasla kadagiti manggagama.”
And he spoke according to the will of the youths: “My father imposed a heavy yoke upon you, which I will make heavier. My father cut you with whips; truly, I will beat you with scorpions.”
15 Saan ngarud nga impangag ti ari dagiti tattao; ta pagayatan ti Dios a kastoy ti mapasamak, tapno maipatungpal ni Yahweh ti saona nga insaona babaen kenni Ahija a Silonita kenni Jeroboam a putot ni Nebat.
And he did not acquiesce to the pleadings of the people. For it was the will of God that his word be fulfilled, which he had spoken by the hand of Ahijah, the Shilonite, to Jeroboam, the son of Nabat.
16 Idi nabigbig dagiti tattao ti Israel a saan ida nga impangag ti ari, simmungbat dagiti tattao kenkuana ket kinunada, “Ania ti bingaymi kenni David? Awan tawidmi iti anak ni Jesse! Rumbeng nga agsubli ti tunggal maysa kadakayo iti toldana, Israel. Ita, kitaem ti bukodmo a balay, David.” Nagsubli ngarud dagiti tattao ti Israel kadagiti toldada.
Then the entire people, speaking more harshly to the king, spoke to him in this way: “There is no portion for us in David, and there is no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Return to your dwellings, O Israel. Then you, O David, shall pasture your own house.” And Israel went away to their dwellings.
17 Ngem no maipapan kadagiti tattao ti Israel nga agnanaed kadagiti siudad ti Juda, inturayan ida ni Rehoboam.
But Rehoboam reigned over the sons of Israel who were living in the cities of Judah.
18 Kalpasanna, imbaon ni Ari Rehoboam ni Adoniram, a mangidadaulo kadagiti inkapilitan nga agtrabaho, ngem binato isuna dagiti tattao ti Israel agingga a natay. Dagus a naglibas ni Ari Rehoboam babaen iti karuahena ket napan idiay Jerusalem.
And king Rehoboam sent Aduram, who was in charge of the tributes. And the sons of Israel stoned him, and he died. And so king Rehoboam hurried to climb into the chariot, and he fled to Jerusalem.
19 Isu a nagrebelde dagiti tattao ti Israel a maibusor iti balay ni David agingga iti daytoy nga aldaw.
And Israel withdrew from the house of David, even to this day.
