< I Samuel 6 >

1 Ita, pito a bulan nga adda iti pagilian dagiti Filisteo ti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh.
When the ark of the LORD had been in the land of the Philistines seven months,
2 Ket pinaayaban dagiti Filisteo dagiti papadi ken dagiti mammadles; kinunada kadakuada, “Ania ti rumbeng nga aramidenmi iti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh? Ibagayo kadakami no kasano ti panangisublimi iti daytoy iti bukodna a pagilian.”
the Philistines summoned the priests and diviners, saying, “What shall we do with the ark of the LORD? Tell us how to send it back to its place.”
3 Kinuna dagiti papadi ken dagiti mammadles, “No isubliyo ti lakasa ti tulag ti Dios ti Israel, saanyo nga ipatulod daytoy a saan a mapakuyogan iti sagut; masapul a pakuyoganyo daytoy iti daton a pangsupapak iti basol. Ket umimbagkayonto, ket maammoanyonto no apay a pagsagsagabaennakayo agingga ita.”
They replied, “If you return the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away empty, but by all means return it to Him with a guilt offering. Then you will be healed, and you will understand why His hand has not been lifted from you.”
4 Ket kinunada, “Ania ti umno a daton a pangsupapak iti basol nga ipakuyogmi iti isublimi kenkuana?” Insungbatda, “Lima a balitok a sinan-letteg ken lima a balitok a sinan-marabutit, lima a kas iti bilang dagiti mangidadaulo kadagiti Filisteo. Ta isu met laeng a didigra ti nangparigat kadakayo ken kadagiti mangidadauloyo.
“What guilt offering should we send back to Him?” asked the Philistines. “Five gold tumors and five gold rats,” they said, “according to the number of rulers of the Philistines, since the same plague has struck both you and your rulers.
5 Isu a masapul a mangaramidkayo kadagiti sinan-letteg, ken sinan-marabutit a mangdaddadael iti daga, ken padayawanyo ti Dios ti Israel. Mabalin nga isardengnan ti panangdusdusana kadakayo, kadagiti diosyo, ken iti dagayo.
Make images of your tumors and of the rats that are ravaging the land. Give glory to the God of Israel, and perhaps He will lift His hand from you and your gods and your land.
6 Apay a patangkenenyo dagiti pusoyo, a kas iti panangpatangken dagiti taga-Egipto ken ti Faraon kadagiti pusoda? Dayta ket idi dinusa ida ti Dios ti Israel iti nakaro; saan kadi a pinalubosan dagiti taga-Egipto dagiti tattao, ket pimmanawda?
Why harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened theirs? When He afflicted them, did they not send the people on their way as they departed?
7 Ita ngarud, mangisaganakayo iti baro a kariton nga addaan iti dua nga agpaspasuso a baka, a saan pay pulos a naipako. Ipakoyo dagiti baka iti kariton, ngem iyawidyo dagiti urbonda, adayo manipud kadakuada.
Now, therefore, prepare one new cart with two milk cows that have never been yoked. Hitch the cows to the cart, but take their calves away and pen them up.
8 Ket alaenyo ti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh ket ikabilyo daytoy iti kariton. Iti abayna, ikabilyo ti kahon a pangikabilanyo kadagiti nahorma a balitok a banbanag nga ipakuyogyo iti isubliyo kenkuana a kas daton a pangsupapak iti basolyo. Ket bay-anyo ida a mapan nga is-isuda.
Take the ark of the LORD, set it on the cart, and in a chest beside it put the gold objects you are sending Him as a guilt offering. Then send the ark on its way,
9 Kalpasanna siputanyo daytoy; no sumang-at daytoy iti dalan nga agturong idiay Bet-semes a bukodna a daga, ni Yahweh ngarud ti nangyeg iti daytoy a dakkel a didigra. Ngem no saan, maammoantayo ngarud a saan a ti imana ti nangparigat kadatayo; ngem ketdi, maammoantayo a nairana laeng a napasamak kadatayo daytoy.”
but keep watching it. If it goes up the road to its homeland, toward Beth-shemesh, it is the LORD who has brought on us this great disaster. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not His hand that punished us and that it happened by chance.”
10 Inaramid dagiti tattao ti naibaga kadakuada; nangalada iti dua nga agpaspasuso a baka ket impakoda dagitoy iti kariton, ket impupokda dagiti urbonda iti balay.
So the men did as instructed. They took two milk cows, hitched them to the cart, and penned up their calves.
11 Inkabilda ti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh iti kariton, agraman ti kahon a naglaon iti balitok a sinan-marabutit ken sinan-letteg.
Then they put the ark of the LORD on the cart, along with the chest containing the gold rats and the images of the tumors.
12 Nagturong dagiti baka iti agpa-Betsemes. Nagnada iti maymaysa a dalan, agem-emmakda bayat a mapmapanda, ket saanda a simmiasi iti makannawan wenno iti makannigid. Sinurot ida dagiti mangidadaulo kadagiti Filisteo agingga idiay beddeng ti Betsemes.
And the cows headed straight up the road toward Beth-shemesh, staying on that one highway and lowing as they went, never straying to the right or to the left. The rulers of the Philistines followed behind them to the border of Beth-shemesh.
13 Ita, agan-ani dagiti tattao iti Betsemes kadagiti trigoda idiay tanap. Idi kimmitada, nakitada ti lakasa ti tulag ket nagrag-oda.
Now the people of Beth-shemesh were harvesting wheat in the valley, and when they looked up and saw the ark, they were overjoyed at the sight.
14 Dimteng ti kariton iti talon ni Josue manipud iti ili ti Betsemes ket nagsardeng sadiay. Adda dakkel a bato sadiay, ket binalsigda ti kariton, ket indatonda dagiti baka a kas daton a mapuoran para kenni Yahweh.
The cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh and stopped there near a large rock. The people chopped up the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the LORD.
15 Imbaba dagiti Levita ti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh ken ti kahon nga adda iti daytoy, a nakaikargaan dagiti nahorma a balitok a banbanag, ket inkabilda dagitoy iti dakkel a bato. Nangidatag dagiti tattao iti Betsemes kadagiti daton a mapuoran ken nangidatonda kenni Yahweh iti dayta met laeng nga aldaw.
And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD and the chest containing the gold objects, and they placed them on the large rock. That day the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the LORD.
16 Idi nakita daytoy dagiti lima a mangidadaulo kadagiti Filisteo, nagsublida idiay Ekron iti dayta nga aldaw.
And when the five rulers of the Philistines saw this, they returned to Ekron that same day.
17 Dagitoy dagiti balitok a sinan-letteg nga impakuyog dagiti Filisteo iti isublida para iti daton a pangsupapak iti basol kenni Yahweh; maysa para iti Asdod, maysa para iti Gaza, maysa iti Askelon, maysa iti Gat, ken maysa para iti Ekron.
As a guilt offering to the LORD, the Philistines had sent back one gold tumor for each city: Ashdod, Gaza, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron.
18 Naipada ti bilang dagiti balitok a sinan-marabutit iti bilang dagiti amin a siudad dagiti Filisteo a kukua dagiti lima a mangidadaulo, dagiti natalged a siudad ken dagiti barbario iti dayta a pagilian. Ti dakkel a bato, iti igid a nangikabilanda iti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh, ket nagtalinaed a saksi agingga kadagitoy nga aldaw iti talon ni Josue a taga-Betsemes.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of Philistine cities belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the ark of the LORD stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
19 Dinusa ni Yahweh dagiti sumagmamano kadagiti tattao iti Betsemes gapu ta kimmitada iti uneg ti lakasa ti tulagna. Pinatayna ti pitopulo a tattao. Nagladingit dagiti tattao, gapu ta dinusa ni Yahweh dagiti tattao iti nakaro.
But God struck down some of the people of Beth-shemesh because they looked inside the ark of the LORD. He struck down seventy men, and the people mourned because the LORD had struck them with a great slaughter.
20 Kinuna dagiti tattao iti Betsemes, “Siasino ti makabael a tumakder iti sangoanan ni Yahweh, daytoy a nasantoan a Dios? Ket siasino ti papananna manipud kadatayo?”” Siasino ti makabael a tumakder iti sangoanan ti Apo, daytoy a nasantoan a Dios? Ken siasino ti papanan ti lakasa ti tulag manipud ditoy?”
The men of Beth-shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom should the ark go up from here?”
21 Nangibaonda kadagiti mensahero kadagiti agnanaed idiay Kiryat-Jearim a kunkunada, “Insubli dagiti Filisteo ti lakasa ti tulag ni Yahweh; sumalogkayo ket alaenyo daytoy.”
So they sent messengers to the people of Kiriath-jearim, saying, “The Philistines have returned the ark of the LORD. Come down and take it up with you.”
