< I Samuel 21 >
1 Kalpasanna, dimteng ni David idiay Nob tapno sarakenna ni Ahimelec a padi. Agtigtigerger ni Ahimelec a nangsabat kenni David ket kinunana kenkuana, “Apay nga agmaymaysaka ken apay nga awan ti kaduam?”
Then David came to Nob to Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said to him, “Why are you alone, and no man with you?”
2 Kinuna ni David kenni Ahimelec a padi, “Imbaonnak ti ari iti maysa a panggep ket kinunana kaniak, 'Awan koma ti makaammo maipapan iti pangibabaonak kenka, ken ti maipapan iti imbilinko kenka.' Imbaonko dagiti agtutubo a lallaki iti maysa lugar.
David said to Ahimelech the priest, “The king has commanded me to do something, and has said to me, ‘Let no one know anything about the business about which I send you, and what I have commanded you. I have sent the young men to a certain place.’
3 Ita ngarud, ania ti adda kenka dita? Ikkannak koma iti lima a pidaso a tinapay, wenno uray ania nga adda ditoy.”
Now therefore what is under your hand? Please give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever is available.”
4 Simmungbat ti padi kenni David a kunana, “Awan ti tinapay ita ditoy a mabalin a kanen ti siasinoman, ngem ti laeng adda ditoy ket ti tinapay a naidaton- no dagiti agtutubo a lallaki ket saan a nakikaidda kadagiti babbai.”
The priest answered David, and said, “I have no common bread, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.”
5 Simmungbat ni David iti padi, “Maipanamnamak a tallon nga aldaw a saankami a nakikaidda kadagiti babbai. Idi nagrubwatak, dagiti bagi dagitoy a lallaki ket napagtalinaedda a nadalus iti imatang ni Yahweh, uray no daytoy ket gagangay a panagdaliasat. Ad-adda ngarud ita a mapagtalinaed ti kinadalus dagiti bagbagida iti imatang ni Yahweh.”
David answered the priest, and said to him, “Truly, women have been kept from us as usual these three days. When I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was only a common journey. How much more then today shall their vessels be holy?”
6 Isu nga inted ti padi kenkuana ti tinapay a naidaton kenni Yahweh. Ta awan ti tinapay sadiay, ti laeng tinapay a naidaton kenni Yahweh a masukatan iti kalutluto a tinapay no maikkat daytoy iti nakaikabilanna.
So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the show bread that was taken from before the LORD, to be replaced with hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
7 Ita, maysa kadagiti adipen ni Saul ket adda sadiay iti dayta nga aldaw, ta kapilitan nga agtalinaed isuna sadiay. Ti naganna ket Doeg a taga-Edom, a pangulo dagiti agay-aywan iti arban ni Saul.
Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the best of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.
8 Kinuna ni David kenni Ahimelec, “Adda kadi uray ania a gayang wenno kampilan dita? Ta awan ti naitugotko a kampilanko wenno uray ania nga igamko, gapu ta kasapulan a mapanak a dagus iti pangibabaonan kaniak ti ari.”
David said to Ahimelech, “Isn’t there here under your hand spear or sword? For I haven’t brought my sword or my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.”
9 Kinuna ti padi, “Adda ditoy ti kampilan ni Goliat a Filisteo a pinapataymo idiay tanap ti Ela, nabalkot iti maysa a lupot ket nailinged iti efod. No kayatmo nga alaen dayta, alaem, ta awanen ti sabali nga igam ditoy malaksid iti dayta.” Kinuna ni David, “Awanen ti sabali a kampilan a kas iti dayta; itedmo kaniak.”
The priest said, “Behold, the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the valley of Elah, is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you would like to take that, take it, for there is no other except that here.” David said, “There is none like that. Give it to me.”
10 Nagrubwat ni David ket linibasanna ni Saul iti dayta nga aldaw ket napan kenni Akis nga ari iti Gat.
David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11 Kinuna dagiti adipen ni Akis kenkuana, “Saan kadi a daytoy ti David nga ari iti daga? Saan kadi nga insalsalada ti panangikankantada iti maipapan kenkuana, 'Pinatay ni Saul ti rinibribu ket ni David ket sangapulo a ribu?'
The servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David the king of the land? Didn’t they sing to one another about him in dances, saying, ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?”
12 Naimula iti puso ni David dagitoy a sasao ket kasta unay ti butengna kenni Akis nga ari ti Gat.
David laid up these words in his heart, and was very afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13 Binaliwannna ti panagtigtignayna ket nagpammarang nga agbagtit iti imatangda; sinuratsuratanna dagiti ruangan ti pagserkan ken baybay-anna nga agayus ti katayna iti barbasna.
He changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands, and scribbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down on his beard.
14 Ket kinuna ni Akis kadagiti adipenna, “Kitaenyo, agbagtit met gayam daytoy a tao. Apay nga inyegyo isuna kaniak?
Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why then have you brought him to me?
15 Agkurangak kadi pay aya iti agbagtit, isu nga inyegyo daytoy a tao nga agaramid iti kas iti dayta iti imatangko? Pudno kadi nga umay daytoy a tao iti balayko?”
Do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Should this fellow come into my house?”
