1 Akwụkwọ ozi a si nʼaka m, Pọl, odibo Chineke, na onyeozi Jisọs Kraịst, onye ahọpụtara ime ka okwukwe ndị Chineke, na nghọta banyere ịmara eziokwu ahụ na-eduba na ndụ ịsọpụrụ Chineke gaa nʼihu,
Paul, a servant of God—an apostle moreover of Jesus Christ, —according to the faith of the chosen ones of God, and the personal knowledge of the truth that is according to godliness, —
2 nke a dabere nʼolileanya maka ndụ ebighị ebi, nke Chineke onye na-adịghị agha ụgha kwerelarị na nkwa tupu mmalite nke oge. (aiōnios g166)
In hope of life age-abiding; which God, who cannot lie, promised before age-during times, (aiōnios g166)
3 Mgbe oge imezu nkwa ahụ ruru, o mere ka okwu ya pụta ìhè site na nkwusa oziọma, nke e nyefere m nʼaka idebe, dị ka Chineke Onye nzọpụta anyị si nye ya nʼiwu.
but hath manifested in its fitting seasons, even his word, in the proclamation with which entrusted am I—by injunction of our Saviour God:
4 Ọ bụ gị Taịtọs, ezi nwa m nwoke nʼime okwukwe nke anyị nwekọrọ. Ka amara na udo nke sitere na Chineke bụ Nna, na Kraịst Jisọs Onye nzọpụta anyị dịrị gị.
Unto Titus, my true child according to a common faith, —favour and peace, from God [our] Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.
5 Ahapụrụ m gị na Kriit ka i dozie ihe ụfọdụ a na-edozibeghị, ka ị họpụtakwa ndị okenye nʼobodo niile, dị ka m siri nye gị nʼiwu.
For this cause left I thee in Crete, that, the things remaining undone, thou mightest completely set in order, and mightest establish, in every city, elders, as, I, with thee arranged: —
6 Ọ ga-abụ onye a na-enweghị ihe ịta ụta, ọ ga-abụ onye na-alụ otu nwanyị. Ụmụ ya bụ ndị kwere ekwe, ndị ama na ha anaghị ebi ndụ ọjọọ, maọbụ na-eme isiike.
If anyone is unaccusable, a husband of, one wife, having children that believe, who are not charged with riotous excess, nor insubordinate;
7 Ebe ọ bụ na onye nlekọta nʼahụ ihe banyere chọọchị Chineke, ọ ga-abụ onye na-enweghị ihe ịta ụta. Ọ gaghị abụ onye nganga, onye na-ewe iwe ọkụ, onye na-aṅụbiga mmanya oke, onye na-alụ ọgụ mgbe niile, onye hụrụ ego nʼanya.
For it is needful that the overseer be—unaccusable, as God’s steward, not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not ready to wound, not seeking gain by base means,
But hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, kind, possessing self-control,
9 Ọ ga-abụkwa onye jidesiri oziọma ahụ nke kwesiri ntụkwasị obi aka ike dịka eziri ya. Nke ga-eme ka o nwe ike gbaa ndị ọzọ ume site na ozizi ahụ nke zuruoke, nakwa ịtụ ndị ahụ na-eguzogide ya mmehie ha nʼihu.
Holding fast, in the matter of his teaching, the faithful word, that he may be able both to encourage with his healthful instruction, and, the gainsayers, to refute.
10 Nʼihi na e nwere ọtụtụ mmadụ ndị na-ekweghị, ndị na-ekwu okwu efu, na ndị aghụghọ, nke ka nke, ndị si nʼotu ndị obibi ugwu pụta.
For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision, —
11 Aghaghị ịkwụsị ha maka na ha na-akụzi ihe ha ekwesighị ikuzi nʼihi ego, si otu ahụ na-eme ka ọtụtụ ezinaụlọ gbasaa.
Whose mouths must needs be stopped, men who are upsetting whole houses, teaching the things which ought not [to be taught] —for the sake of base gain.
12 Ọ bụ otu onye nʼime ha, onye bụkwa onye amụma ha kwuru okwu banyere ha sị, “Ndị Kriit niile bụ ndị ụgha. Ha kwara obi nʼazụ dị ka anụ ọhịa jọrọ njọ. Ha bụ ndị umengwụ nwere akpịrị ogologo.”
Said one from among them, a prophet, of their own!—Cretans! always false, mischievous wild-beasts, idle gluttons:
13 Nʼezie, okwu a bụ eziokwu. Nʼihi nke a, baara ha mba nʼolu ike banyere mmehie ha ka ha nwee ike zuo oke nʼokwukwe,
This witness, is true, —for which cause, be reproving them sharply, that they may be healthy in their faith,
14 ka ha kwụsị ige ntị nʼakụkọ ifo ndị Juu na-akọ, maọbụ iwu nke ndị jụrụ ịnabata eziokwu nyere.
Not giving heed to Judaical stories and commandments of men who are turning away from the truth:
15 Ihe niile dị ọcha nʼebe ndị dị ọcha nọ, o nweghị ihe ọbụla dị ọcha nʼebe ndị rụrụ arụ na ndị na-ekweghị ekwe nọ. Nʼihi na uche ha na akọnuche ha rụrụ arụ.
All things, are pure, unto the pure, but, unto the polluted and faithless, nothing, is pure, but polluted are both their mind and conscience;
God, they confess that they know, but, by their works, they deny him, being, abominable, and obdurate, and, as to any good work, found, worthless.
