1 Abụ Ọma Asaf. O Chineke, mba dị iche iche abatala nʼihe nketa gị; ha emerụọla ụlọnsọ ukwuu gị, ha etikpọọla Jerusalem, mee ka ọ tọgbọrọ nʼefu.
God, other people-groups have invaded your land. They have (desecrated your temple/caused your temple to be unfit for worship), and they have destroyed all the buildings in Jerusalem.
2 Ha ewerela ozu ndị ohu gị nye anụ ufe niile nke eluigwe ka ọ bụrụ ihe oriri nye ha, werekwa ozu nke ndị nsọ gị nye anụ ọhịa niile nke ụwa.
[Instead of burying] the corpses of your people [whom they killed], they allowed vultures and wild animals to eat the flesh of those corpses,
3 Ha awụpụla ọbara dịka mmiri nʼakụkụ niile nke Jerusalem, ọ dịghị otu onye fọdụrụ nke ga-eli ndị nwụrụ anwụ.
When they killed your people, your people’s blood flowed like water through [the streets of] Jerusalem, and there was [almost] no one [HYP] left to bury their corpses.
4 Anyị aghọọla ihe ịta ụta nʼebe ndị agbataobi anyị nọ, ghọọkwara ndị gbara anyị gburugburu ihe ịchị ọchị, na ihe ịkwa emo.
The people-groups that live in countries that surround our land insult us; they laugh at us and deride/belittle us.
5 O Onyenwe anyị, ruo olee mgbe? Ị ga-ewe iwe ruo mgbe ebighị ebi? Ruo olee mgbe ka ekworo gị ga na-ere dịka ọkụ?
Yahweh, how long [will this continue]? Will you be angry with us forever? Will your being angry [destroy us like] a burning fire [destroys things]?
6 Wụkwasị mba niile ndị na-amaghị gị dịka Chineke oke iwe gị, bụ alaeze niile ndị ahụ na-adịghị akpọku aha gị;
[Instead of being angry with us], be angry with the people-groups that do not know/worship you! Be angry with kingdoms whose people do not pray to you,
7 nʼihi na ha eripịala Jekọb mekwaa ka ebe obibi ya tọgbọrọ nʼefu.
because they have killed Israeli people and they have ruined your country.
8 Atala anyị ahụhụ mmehie nke nna nna anyị mere; ka ebere gị bịa ngwangwa zute anyị, nʼihi na anyị nọ nʼọnọdụ oke mkpa.
Do not punish us because of the sins that our ancestors committed! Be merciful to us now/quickly, because we are very discouraged.
9 Nyere anyị aka, O Chineke, Onye Nzọpụta anyị, nʼihi ebube nke aha gị; napụta anyị, gbaghara mmehie anyị niile nʼihi aha gị.
God, you have saved/rescued [us many times], [so] help us [now]; rescue us and forgive us for having sinned in order that other people will honor you [MTY].
10 Gịnị mere ndị mba ọzọ ji na-ajụ ajụjụ sị, “Olee ebe Chineke ha nọ?” Nʼihu anyị, mee ka a mara nʼetiti ndị mba ọzọ, na ị na-abọ ọbọ ọbara ndị ohu gị niile a wufuru.
It is not right that [RHQ] other people-groups say [about us], “If their God [is very powerful], (surely he should help them/why does he not [help them])?” Allow us to see you punishing the people of other nations in return for their shedding our blood; they have killed many of us, your people.
11 Gee ntị nʼịsụ ude nke ndị nọ nʼụlọ mkpọrọ; site nʼike nke aka gị chebe ndị niile a mara ikpe ọnwụ.
Listen to your people groaning while they are in prison, and by your great power free those whom our enemies say that they will certainly execute.
12 Bọọ ọbọ ugboro asaa megide ndị agbataobi anyị nʼihi ụta ha tara gị, O Onyenwe anyị.
In return for their having [often] insulted you, punish them seven times as much!
13 Mgbe ahụ, anyị bụ ndị gị, ụmụ igwe atụrụ gị ga-eto gị ruo mgbe niile ebighị ebi; anyị ga na-ekwupụta otuto gị, site nʼọgbọ ruo nʼọgbọ.
After you do that, we, whom you [take care of like a shepherd takes care of] his sheep, will continue praising you; we will continue to praise you forever [HYP].
