For the music director. According to “Dove on Distant Oaks.” A psalm (miktam) of David concerning the time the Philistines captured him in Gath. God, please be gracious to me, for people are persecuting me; my attackers fight against me all day long.
2 Ogologo ụbọchị niile ndị iro m na-achụso m; site na nganga ha, ọtụtụ na-ebu agha megide m.
My enemies chase me down all the time—there are many of them, attacking me in their arrogance.
3 Ma mgbe ụjọ na-atụ m, ọ bụ na gị ka m na-atụkwasị obi m.
But when I'm afraid, I trust in you.
4 Nʼime Chineke onye m na-eto okwu ya, nʼime Chineke ka m na-atụkwasị obi; ụjọ agaghị atụ m. Gịnị ka mmadụ efu pụrụ ime m?
I thank God for his promises. I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?
5 Ogologo ụbọchị niile, ha na-asụgharị okwu m kwuru isi; oge niile ka ha na-atụ atụmatụ imerụ m ahụ.
They constantly twist my words against me; they spend all their time thinking of evil things to do to me.
6 Ha na-agba izu nzuzo na-ezokwa onwe ha, ha na-enyochapụta nzọ ụkwụ m niile, dịkwa njikere ịnapụ m ndụ m.
They gather together in their hiding places to keep watch on me, hoping to kill me.
7 Nʼihi ajọ omume ha, ekwekwala ka ha gbapụ; o Chineke, nʼime iwe gị, wedaa mba ndị a niile dị iche iche nʼala.
Will they escape when they do so much evil? God, in anger bring these people down!
8 Depụta akwa arịrị m; chekọtasịa anya mmiri akwa m niile nʼime karama gị. Ọ bụ na ha adịghị nʼakwụkwọ ndepụta gị?
You've kept track of all my wanderings. You've collected all my tears in your bottle. You've kept a record of each one.
9 Mgbe m ga-akpọku gị maka enyemaka, ndị iro m ga-agbaghachi azụ. Site nʼụzọ dị otu a, aga m amara na Chineke nọnyeere m.
Then those who hate me will run away when I call for your help. For I know this: God is for me!
10 Nʼime Chineke, onye m na-eto okwu ya, nʼime Onyenwe anyị, onye m na-eto okwu ya,
I thank God for his promises. I thank the Lord for his promises.
11 nʼime Chineke ka m na-atụkwasị obi; ụjọ agaghị atụ m. Gịnị ka mmadụ pụrụ ime m?
I trust in God, so why should I be fearful? What can mere human beings do to me?
12 O Chineke m, nʼisi m ka nkwa niile m kwere gị dị; aga m ewetara gị onyinye ekele m niile.
