< Abụ Ọma 39 >

1 Abụ Ọma nke dịrị onyeisi abụ maka Jedutun. Abụ Ọma Devid. Asịrị m, “Aga m elezi anya nʼụzọ m niile ma debe ire m ka m ghara ikwuhie; aga m eji ihe kechie ọnụ m mgbe m nọ nʼetiti ndị ajọ omume.”
For the leader; for Jeduthun. A psalm of David. I vowed to watch my words, and sin not with my tongue, but to put on my mouth a muzzle, while the wicked were in my presence.
2 Ma mgbe m mechiri ọnụ m ma nọrọ duu, jụ ikwu ọ bụladị ihe ọbụla dị mma, oke ihe mgbu m mụbara.
I was silent and dumb, speechless: but my pain was stirred up.
3 Obi m kporo ọkụ nʼime m, ma mgbe m na-atụgharị ihe ndị a nʼuche, ọkụ ahụ nọ na-ere; mgbe ahụ ekwuru m okwu sị:
My heart grew hot within me; as I mused, the fire was kindled, till at last the words came to my tongue.
4 “O Onyenwe anyị, gosi m ọgwụgwụ nke ndụ m na ọnụọgụgụ ụbọchị m niile; mee ka m mara na ndụ m na-agafe ngwangwa.
“Teach me, O Lord, my end, and the sum of my days what it is. Let me know how transient I am.
5 I meela ka ụbọchị m niile bụrụ naanị ihe dị nta; ogologo afọ m niile adịghị ka ihe ọbụla nʼihu gị. Ndụ onye ọbụla bụ naanị otu nkuume ọbụladị ndị dịka ha guzosirike. (Sela)
See! My days you have made but a span, and my life is as nothing before you. It is but as a breath that everyone stands: (Selah)
6 “Nʼezie onye ọbụla na-ejegharị dịka onyinyo nʼefu ka ha na-ekwogharị nʼotu ebe na nke ọzọ, na-akpakọba akụ, na-amaghị onye ọ ga-abụ nke ya nʼikpeazụ.
it is but in mere semblance we walk to and fro, and all our noise is for nothing. We heap up, and know not who will gather.”
7 “Ma ugbu a, Onyenwe m, gịnị ka m na-ele anya ya? Olileanya m dị nʼime gị.
And now, what wait I for, Lord? My hope is in you.
8 Zọpụta m site na mmehie m niile; ekwela ka m bụrụ ihe ọchị nye ndị nzuzu.
From all my transgressions deliver me; make me not the scorn of the fool.
9 Agbachiri m nkịtị, ajụrụ m ikwu okwu, nʼihi na ọ bụ gị mere ihe a.
I am dumb, never opening my mouth, for this is your own doing.
10 Kwụsị iti m ihe; ihe otiti nke aka gị ezuola m ahụ.
Remove your stroke from off me: by the might of your hand I am spent.
11 Ị na-abara ndị mmadụ mba ma na-ata ha ahụhụ nʼihi mmehie ha; ị na-eripịa akụnụba ha dịka nla, mmadụ ọbụla bụ naanị otu nkuume. (Sela)
When you rebuke someone to punish their sins, you consume, like a moth, what they treasures. Everyone is only a breath. (Selah)
12 “O Onyenwe anyị, nụrụ ekpere m, gekwaa ntị nʼakwa m maka enyemaka; emechila ntị gị nye ibe akwa m. Nʼihi ana m ebinyere gị dịka onye ọbịa, dịka onye ije, dịka nna nna m ha mere.
Hear my prayer, O Lord; attend to my cry for help. Hold not your peace at my tears. For I am but a guest of yours, a stranger visiting, like all my ancestors.
13 Lepụ anya na-ebe m nọ, ka m nwee ike kporie ndụ ọzọ, tupu m hapụ ebe a laa, a gaghị ahụkwa m ọzọ.”
Look away from me, let me smile again, before I die and am gone.
