1 Abụ nke dịrị onyeisi abụ. Abụ Ọma Devid. O Onyenwe anyị, dọpụta m site nʼaka ndị na-eme ihe ọjọọ. Chebe m ka m ghara ịdaba nʼaka ndị na-eme ihe ike dị iche iche.
Yahweh, rescue/save me from [being attacked by] evil men; and [even more], (keep me safe/protect me) from being attacked by violent people.
2 Ndị na-atụ atụmatụ ime ihe ọjọọ nʼobi ha na-akpali agha ụbọchị niile.
They are always planning to do evil things and they are always inciting/urging people to start quarrels.
3 Ha na-eme ire ha ka ha dị nkọ dịka nke agwọ; elo ajụala dị nʼegbugbere ọnụ ha. (Sela)
By what they say [MTY] [they injure people like] poisonous snakes do; the words that they speak [MTY] [can kill people as easily as] cobras/vipers do.
4 Chebe m Onyenwe anyị, ka m ghara ịdaba nʼaka ndị na-emebi iwu; chebe m ka m ghara ịdaba nʼaka ndị na-eme ihe ike, ndị na-eche echiche ọdịda m.
Yahweh, protect me from the power [MTY] of wicked [people]. Keep me safe from violent men who plan to destroy me [SYN].
5 Ndị mpako esielera m ọnya igbudu; ha agbasaala ụgbụ ha na udo ha, siekwara m ọnya dị iche iche nʼụzọ m na-aga. (Sela)
[It is as though] proud people have set a trap for me; [it is as though] they have spread their nets to catch me; [it is as though] they have put those things along the road to catch/seize me.
6 A sịrị m Onyenwe anyị, “Gị onwe gị bụ Chineke m.” Nụrụ, O Onyenwe anyị, olu arịrịọ m maka amara.
I say to you, “Yahweh, you are my God;” [so] listen to me while I cry out to you to help me.
7 Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị Onye nzọpụta m dị ike, ị na-ekpuchi isi m nʼụbọchị agha.
Yahweh, my Lord, you are the one who defends me strongly; you have [protected me] during battles [MET] [as though you had put a helmet on] my head.
8 Ekwekwala ka ndị ajọ omume chọta ihe ha na-achọ, o Onyenwe anyị, ekwekwala ka nzube ha mezuo. (Sela)
Yahweh, do allow wicked [people] to do the things that they desire, and do not allow them to do the [evil things that] they plan to do.
9 Ndị niile gbara m gburugburu na-ebuli isi ha elu na nganga ka ndụ ọjọọ nke egbugbere ọnụ ha rikpuo ha.
[Do not allow] my enemies to (become proud/defeat me); cause the evil things that they say [MTY] they will do to me to happen to them, [instead].
10 Ka icheku ọkụ na-ere ere dakwasị ha; ka a tụba ha nʼime ọkụ na-ere ere, nʼime olulu apịtị jupụtara, nke ha na-enweghị ike isite nʼime ya pụta ọzọ.
Cause burning coals to fall on their [heads]! Cause them to be thrown into deep pits, from which they cannot climb out!
11 Ekwela ka ndị na-ekwu okwu nkwulu guzosie ike nʼala, ka ihe ọjọọ chụda ndị na-eme ihe ike.
Do not allow those who slander others to succeed; cause evil things to happen to violent men and destroy them!
12 Amaara m na Onyenwe anyị ga-ekpe ikpe ziri ezi nye ndị ogbenye na-emekwa ka ndị nọ na mkpa nweta ihe ruuru ha.
Yahweh, I know that you defend those who are oppressed, and that you do what is just/fair for those who are needy/poor.
13 Nʼezie, ndị ezi omume ga-eto aha gị, ndị ziri ezi ga-ebikwa nʼihu gị.
Righteous [people] will surely thank you [MTY], and they will live (in your presence/with you).
