< Ilu 19 >
1 Ọ ka mma ịbụ ogbenye onye kwesiri ntụkwasị obi karịa ịbụ onye nzuzu na-ekwu okwu ụgha mgbe niile.
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
2 Arịrịọ nke na-enweghị ihe ọmụma adịghị mma otu a kwa onye ụkwụ ya na-eme ngwa na-ejehie ụzọ.
It isn't good to have zeal without knowledge; nor being hasty with one's feet and missing the way.
The foolishness of man subverts his way; his heart rages against YHWH.
4 Onye nwere ego na-enwe ọtụtụ ndị enyi, ma ọ na-ara ahụ ka ndị enyi onye ogbenye nọgide.
Wealth adds many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend.
5 Onye na-agba ama ụgha ga-ata ahụhụ, ụzọ onye na-ekupụ ụgha dịka ume ka a ga-achọpụtakwa.
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.
6 Ọtụtụ mmadụ na-achọ ihuọma nʼebe onye na-achị achị nọ, otu a kwa, mmadụ niile na-agbalị ịbụ enyi onye na-agbasa aka ya na-enye onyinye.
Many will seek the favor of a ruler, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.
All the relatives of the poor shun him: how much more do his friends avoid him. He pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.
8 Onye na-enweta amamihe hụrụ ndụ nʼanya, onye na-edebekwa nghọta na-enweta ọganihu.
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul. He who keeps understanding shall find good.
9 Onyeama ụgha aghaghị ịta ahụhụ, onye ọbụla na-ekwupụ okwu ụgha dịka mmiri ga-ala nʼiyi.
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who utters lies shall perish.
10 Onye nzuzu ekwesighị ibi dịka ọgaranya; ohu ekwesịkwaghị ịchị ụmụ eze.
Delicate living is not appropriate for a fool, much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Ezi uche mmadụ nwere na-amụpụta ndidi; ọ bụkwa nkwanye ugwu nye onye nʼadịghị agụ mkparị a na-akparị ya.
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
12 Iwe eze dị ka mbigbọ nke ọdụm. Ma obi ụtọ ya dị ka igirigi nʼelu ahịhịa ndụ.
The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
13 Nwa nzuzu bụ ịla nʼiyi nke nna, nwunye na-ese okwu dị ka mmiri ọtụtụ na-atụ kpọm, kpọm, mgbe niile nʼelu ụlọ puru epu.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife's quarrels are a continual dripping.
14 Ụlọ dị iche iche na akụ bụ ihe nketa a na-anata nʼaka ndị nne na nna, ma nwunye nwere uche na nghọta na-esite naanị nʼaka Onyenwe anyị.
House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from YHWH.
15 Umengwụ na-akpata oke ịrahụ ụra, onye ọfọ ogori ka agụụ na-agụ.
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Onye na-edebe iwu Chineke na-enweta ndụ, ma onye na-akpọ ya asị na-anwụ.
He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die.
17 Onye ọbụla na-egosi ndị ogbenye obi ebere na-ebinye Onyenwe anyị ihe, ọ ga-akwụghachi ha nʼihi ihe ọma ha mere.
He who has pity on the poor lends to YHWH; he will reward him.
Ma i meghị otu a, ọ bụ ndụ ya ka ị na-emebi.
Discipline your son, for there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.
A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty, for if you rescue him, you must do it again.
20 Gee ntị na ndụmọdụ a na-enye gị, nabata ịdọ aka na ntị. Nʼikpeazụ, ị ga-abụ onye maara ihe.
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.
21 Ọtụtụ atụmatụ dị nʼobi mmadụ; maọbụ uche Onyenwe anyị ga-emezu.
There are many plans in a man's heart, but YHWH's counsel will prevail.
22 Obi ebere mmadụ na-eme ka a na-achọsi ya ike. Ọ ka mma ịbụ ogbenye karịa ịbụ mmadụ nke eziokwu ọbụla na-adịghị nʼọnụ ya.
That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar.
23 Ịtụ egwu Onyenwe anyị na-eweta ndụ na ọṅụ, na nchebe site nʼihe mmerụ ahụ.
The fear of YHWH leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.
24 Onye umengwụ na-amanye aka nʼefere nri, ọ gaghị eweghachi ya ọ bụladị tinye nʼọnụ ya.
The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Tie onye na-akwa emo ihe, onye na-enweghị uche ga-aghọ onye nwere ezi uche, baara onye nwere nghọta mba, ha ga-enweta ihe ọmụma.
Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
He who robs his father and drives away his mother, is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
27 Nwa m ọ bụrụ na ị hapụ ige ntị na ntụziaka m, ị ga-esi nʼokwu ihe ọmụma kpafuo.
If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.
28 Onyeama ụgha na-akwa ikpe ziri ezi emo. Ọnụ nke onye ajọ omume na-eloda ajọ ihe.
A corrupt witness mocks justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down iniquity.
29 Ndị na-akwa emo na ndị nzuzu ga-ata ahụhụ; a ga-etikwa ha ihe.
Penalties are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
