< Ilu 16 >

1 Mmadụ nwere ike pịa ihe ọ chọrọ ime, ma okwu ikpeazụ ga-esi nʼọnụ Onyenwe anyị.
Unto man belong the resolves of the heart; but from the Lord cometh the expression of the tongue.
2 Ụzọ niile nke mmadụ dị ọcha nʼanya ya, ma Onyenwe anyị na-atule ebumnobi niile nke mmadụ.
Every one of the ways of a man is pure in his own eyes; but the Lord measureth the spirits.
3 Were ọrụ gị niile nyefee nʼaka Onyenwe anyị, ọ ga-eme ka ha gaa nʼihu.
Commit unto the Lord thy works, and thy plans will be firmly established.
4 Onyenwe anyị na-eme ka ihe niile rụpụta ebumnuche ya, o bụladị ndị mmebi iwu ka e debere maka ụbọchị mbibi.
Every thing hath the Lord wrought for its destined end; yes, even the wicked for the day of unhappiness.
5 Onyenwe anyị kpọrọ ndị nwere obi dị mpako asị. Mara nke a nke ọma: Ha aghaghị ịta ahụhụ.
An abomination of the Lord is every one that is proud of heart: the hand [of God] being against [his] hand, he shall not go unpunished.
6 Ọ bụ site nʼịhụnanya na eziokwu ka eji ekpuchi mmehie; ọ bụkwa site nʼegwu Onyenwe anyị ka mmadụ ji agbanarị mmehie.
Through kindness and truth is iniquity atoned for; and by the fear of the Lord [men] depart from evil.
7 Mgbe ụzọ mmadụ na-agbaso na-atọ Onyenwe anyị ụtọ, ọ na-eme ka mmadụ ahụ na ndị iro ya dị nʼudo.
When the Lord receiveth in favor a man's ways, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Ọ dị mma inwe ihe nta nʼezi omume karịa inwe ọtụtụ uru nʼụzọ ikpe na-ezighị ezi.
Better is a little with righteousness, than great incomes through injustice.
9 Anyị nwere ike pịa ọpịpịa nʼobi anyị, maọbụ Onyenwe anyị na-edu ije anyị.
A man's heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth firmly his steps.
10 Egbugbere ọnụ eze na-ekwu okwu sitere na-ezi nghọta, ọnụ ya adịghị ekpe ikpe na-ezighị ezi.
There should be a wise sentence on the lips of the king: his mouth should never commit a trespass in judging.
11 Ihe ọtụtụ ziri ezi na ihe niile ha nʼotu dịrị Onyenwe anyị, ihe niile e ji atụ ihe dị nʼime akpa bụ ya mere ha.
A just balance and scales belong to the Lord: his work are all the weights in the bag.
12 Ndị eze kpọrọ ime ihe na-adịghị mma asị, nʼihi na site nʼezi omume ka ocheeze ji eguzosi ike.
It should be an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; for through righteousness [alone] can a throne be established.
13 Ndị eze na-enwe mmasị nʼegbugbere ọnụ na-ekwu eziokwu, ha na-agụ onye na-ekwu eziokwu dị ka ezi mmadụ.
Righteous lips [should obtain] the favor of kings; and him that speaketh uprightly should they love.
14 Iwe eze bụ onyeozi nke ọnwụ. Onye maara ihe ga-eme ka ọ dajụọ.
The fury of a king is like the messengers of death; but a wise man will appease it.
15 Mgbe ọchị dị nʼihu eze ọ na-ewetara onye hụrụ ya ndụ, ihuọma ya dị ka igwe ojii na-eweta mmiri ozuzo.
In the light of the king's countenance there is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 Ọ ka mma inwe amamihe na mmụọ ịghọta ihe karịa inwe ọlaọcha na ọlaedo.
How much better is it to obtain wisdom than gold! and to obtain understanding is preferable to silver!
17 Ụzọ dị larịị nke onye ziri ezi bụ iwezuga onwe ya pụọ nʼihe ọjọọ, ndị na-echebe ụzọ ha niile na-echebekwa ndụ ha.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he preserveth his soul that watcheth his way.
18 Nganga na-eweta ịla nʼiyi, mpako na-ewetakwa ọdịda.
Before downfall [goeth] pride, and before stumbling, haughtiness of spirit.
19 Ọ ka mma ịbụ onye ogbenye nwere obi umeala karịa ịbụ onye nganga, na onye so ndị nganga keta oke nʼihe ha kwatara nʼagha.
Better is it to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide spoil with the proud.
20 Onye ọbụla na-aṅa ntị na ndụmọdụ ka ihe na-agara nke ọma, onye a gọziri agọzi bụ onye ahụ nke na-atụkwasị Onyenwe anyị obi.
He that reflecteth on a matter wisely will find happiness; and whoso trusteth in the Lord—happiness attend him!
21 A na-amata onye nwere uche site nʼụdị nghọta o nwere. Okwu dị ụtọ na-eme ka mmadụ mụta ihe nke ọma.
The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips increaseth information.
22 Inwe uche bụ isi iyi ndụ nye ndị niile nwere ya, ma enweghị uche na-ewetara ndị nzuzu ntaramahụhụ.
Intelligence is a source of life unto its possessor; but the correction of fools is folly.
23 Obi onye maara ihe na-eme ka e tinye uche nʼokwu ọnụ ya, egbugbere ọnụ ha na-emekwa ka mmụta gaa nʼihu.
The heart of the wise maketh his mouth intelligent, and upon his lips he increaseth information.
24 Okwu dị nro na-atọ ụtọ ka mmanụ aṅụ, ọ na-atọ mkpụrụobi ụtọ, na-enyekwa ọkpụkpụ ahụ ike.
[Like] the droppings of honey are pleasant sayings, sweet to the soul, and healing to the bones.
25 Ọ dị ụzọ nke ziri ezi nʼanya mmadụ, ma nʼikpeazụ ọ na-eduba nʼọnwụ.
There is many a way which seemeth even before a man, but its end are the ways unto death.
26 Agụụ ihe oriri nke onye ọrụ na-arụpụtara ya ọrụ; agụụ na-akpali mmụọ ya ịga nʼihu.
The desire of the laborer laboreth for him; for his mouth imposeth it on him.
27 Ndị ọjọọ na-atụpụta echiche ọjọọ, egbugbere ọnụ ha dị ka ọkụ nke na-ekpochapụ ahụ.
An ungodly man diggeth up mischief, and on his lips there is as it were a scathing fire.
28 Onye na-emebi iwu na-agbasa ise okwu; ha na-akpali nsogbu, na-ekewa enyi na enyi.
A perverse man scattereth strife; and a whisperer separateth confident friends.
29 Ndị ọjọọ na-arafu ndị agbataobi ha, na-edubakwa ha nʼụzọ ga-ewetara ha mbibi.
The man of violence misleadeth his neighbor, and maketh him go on a way which is not good.
30 Onye ji ikuanya ya ekwu okwu na-atụ atụmatụ ọjọọ, onye na-atabi egbugbere ọnụ ya abụọ ekpebiela ime mmehie.
He shutteth his eyes to devise perverse things: when he compresseth his lips then hath he fully resolved on evil.
31 Isi awọ bụ okpueze nke mara mma, a na-enweta ya nʼụzọ ezi omume.
An ornamental crown is the hoary head, on the way of righteousness can it be found.
32 Onye na-adịghị ewe iwe ọsịịsọ karịrị onye a maara aha ya. Onye nwere ogologo ntachiobi karịrị onye na-adọta obodo nʼagha.
One that is slow to anger is better than a hero; and he that ruleth his spirit, than the conqueror of a city.
33 A na-efe nza, nʼihi ịchọpụta uche Onyenwe anyị, maọbụ Chineke nʼonwe ya na-ekpebi ihe a ga-efeta na nza ahụ.
In the lap the lot is cast: but from the Lord cometh the whole of its decision.
