1 Ọsịsa okwu dị nro na-eme ka iwe na ọnụma laa azụ; ma okwu ike na-akpali iwe.
A soft answer turneth away fury; but a mortifying word stirreth up anger.
2 Ire onye maara ihe na-eme ka ihe ọmụma mụbaa, ma ọnụ onye nzuzu na-ekwupụta okwu enweghị uche.
The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge acceptable; but the mouth of fools sputtereth out folly.
3 Onyenwe anyị na-ahụzu ihe niile, anya ya dịkwa nʼahụ ndị ọma na ndị ọjọọ.
In every place are the eyes of the Lord, looking on the bad and the good.
4 Okwu dị nwayọọ na-eweta ndụ na ume; ma nkwutọ na-eweta ịda mba.
A healing [word] of the tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach to the spirit.
5 Naanị onye nzuzu na-akpọ ndụmọdụ ndị mụrụ ya ihe efu; ma onye ọbụla na-ege ntị nye mgbanwe na-ezipụta ezi uche.
A fool contemneth the correction of his father; but he that observeth admonition will become prudent.
6 Ụlọ ndị ezi omume na-ejupụta nʼọtụtụ akụ, ma akụ ndị na-emebi iwu na-ewetara ha nsogbu.
In the house of the righteous there is much treasure; but in the income of the wicked is trouble.
7 Egbugbere ọnụ onye maara ihe na-agbasa ihe ọmụma, ma obi ndị nzuzu ezighị ezi.
The lips of the wise scatter knowledge; but the heart of fools is not reliable.
8 Onyenwe anyị na-akpọ aja ndị ajọ omume asị, ma ekpere ndị ndụ ha ziri ezi na-atọ ya ụtọ.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination of the Lord: but, the prayer of the upright [obtaineth] his favor.
9 Onyenwe anyị kpọrọ ụzọ ndị na-emebi iwu asị, ma ndị na-achụso ezi omume ka ọ na-ahụ nʼanya.
An abomination of the Lord is the way of the wicked; but him that pursueth righteousness will he love.
10 Oke ịdọ aka na ntị na-echere ndị na-ahapụ ụzọ. Onye kpọrọ ịba mba asị ga-anwụ ọnwụ.
An evil correction is [destined] for him that forsaketh the [right] path; he that hateth admonition will die.
11 Onyenwe anyị mazuru ihe omimi niile nke ọnwụ na ọkụ ala mmụọ; ọ ga-esikwa aṅaa ghara ịma obi ụmụ mmadụ? (Sheol h7585)
The nether world and corruption are open before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Ọ dịghị atọ onye na-akwa emo ụtọ ma a baara ya mba, ya mere ọ dịghị ejekwuru onye maara ihe.
A scorner loveth not that one should admonish him: unto the wise doth he not go.
13 Obi nke na-aṅụrị ọṅụ na-eme ka ihu dị mma. Ihu gbarụrụ agbarụ na-egosi obi nwere ihe mwute.
A merry heart cheereth up the countenance; but when the heart feeleth pain the spirit is depressed.
14 Obi nwere nghọta na-achọ ịmata ihe, ma ọnụ onye nzuzu na-azụ onwe ya nʼokwu na-abaghị uru.
The heart of the man of understanding seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Ndụ onye ogbenye jupụtara nnọọ na mgbalị, ma ndị nwere udo nʼobi na-eri oriri mgbe niile.
All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.
16 Ọ dị mma inwe akụnụba dị nta ma bụrụ onye na-atụ egwu Onyenwe anyị, karịa inwe akụ ma nọrọ na nsogbu.
Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure and confusion therewith.
17 Ọ ka mma bụ oke nri akwụkwọ nri nta nke nwere ịhụnanya, karịa ehi buru ibu a zụziri azụzi nke ịkpọ asị dị na ya.
Better is an allowance of herbs when love is there, than a stall-fed ox and hatred therewith.
18 Onye iwe ọkụ na-amalite ọgụ; ma onye na-adịghị ewe iwe ọsịịsọ na-eme ka ịlụ ọgụ kwụsị.
A man of fury stirreth up strife; but he that is slow to anger assuageth contention.
19 Eji ogwu gbochie ụzọ onye umengwụ, ma ụzọ onye omume ya ziri ezi bụ ụzọ dị larịị.
The way of the slothful man is like a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is a levelled [road].
20 Nwa nke maara ihe na-eme ka obi tọọ nna ya ụtọ, ma onye nzuzu na-eleda nne ya anya.
A wise son causeth his father to rejoice; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Onye na-enweghị uche na-aṅụrị ọṅụ nʼime amaghị ihe ya, ma onye nwere nghọta na-aga ije nʼụzọ ziri ezi.
Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding walketh straight forward.
22 Nzube na-enweghị ndụmọdụ na-ama afọ nʼala, ma ndị ndụmọdụ dịrị ọtụtụ ọganihu ga-adị.
Plans are frustrated without consultation; but through a multitude of counsellors canst thou maintain thyself.
23 Ọṅụ na-adị mgbe mmadụ natara ọsịsa dị mma, okwu e kwuru nʼoge o kwesiri dị mma.
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word [spoken] at the proper time, how good is it!
24 Ụzọ ndụ na-agbago elu nye onye nwere uche, iwezuga ha site na-ịgbada nʼala mmụọ dị nʼokpuru. (Sheol h7585)
The path of life [leadeth] upward for the intelligent, in order that he may avoid the nether world beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Onyenwe anyị na-adọtu ma na-adọrisi ụlọ nke onye mpako, ma oke ala nke nwanyị di ya nwụrụ ka ọ na-elekọta.
The Lord, will tear down the house of the proud; but he will set up firmly the boundary [-stone] of the widow.
26 Echiche ọjọọ niile nke ndị na-emebi iwu ka Onyenwe anyị kpọrọ asị ma okwu ebere niile dị ọcha nʼanya ya.
An abomination of the Lord are the thoughts of the bad man; but pleasant speeches are pure [before him].
27 Onye anya ukwu na-ewetara ezinaụlọ ya nsogbu. Ma onye kpọrọ iri ngarị asị ga-adị ndụ.
He that is greedy after gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts will live.
28 Obi onye ezi omume na-atule ọsịsa ya ma ọnụ nke onye ajọ omume na-asọpụta ihe ọjọọ dị iche iche.
The heart of the righteous reflecteth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked sputtereth out evil things.
29 Onyenwe anyị anọghị ndị na-emebi iwu nso; ma ọ na-anụ ekpere ndị ezi omume.
The Lord is far from the wicked; but the prayer of the righteous doth he hear.
30 Ihu ọchị na-eweta obi ụtọ. Akụkọ ọma na-enyekwa ọkpụkpụ ndụ.
[What is pleasant to] the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: a good report giveth marrow to the bones.
31 Onye na-ege ntị nye ịba mba nke na-enye ndụ ga-esoro ndị amamihe nọrọ.
The ear that heareth the admonition of life will ever abide in the midst of the wise.
32 Onye jụrụ ịdọ aka na ntị kpọrọ onwe ya asị ma onye ọbụla naara ndụmọdụ nwere nghọta.
He that rejecteth correction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth admonition acquireth intelligence.
33 Ịtụ egwu Onyenwe anyị bụ amamihe na-abịa site nʼịdọ aka na ntị; onye dị umeala nʼobi ga-anata ugwu na nsọpụrụ.
The fear of the Lord is the correction for wisdom; and before honor there must come humility.
