The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
2 Akụ a kpatara nʼụzọ na-ezighị ezi adịghị aba uru, ma ezi omume na-azọpụta mmadụ site nʼọnwụ.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
3 Onyenwe anyị agaghị ekwe ka onye ezi omume nwụọ nʼagụụ, ọ gakwaghị ekwe ka ihe nọgide na-agara onye ajọ omume nke ọma.
The LORD will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
4 Aka ndị umengwụ na-eweta ogbenye, ma aka na-arụsị ọrụ ike na-eweta ụba.
He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 Onye na-ekpokọta nʼoge ọkọchị bụ nwa maara ihe, ma nwa ahụ nke na-arahụ ụra nʼoge ọrụ bụ nwa na-eweta ihere.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
6 Onye ezi omume na-anata ngọzị, ma naanị nkọcha jupụtara nʼọnụ onye ajọ omume.
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 Aha onye ezi omume ka eji enye ngọzị, ma aha onye ajọ omume ga-ere ure.
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
8 Onye obi ya maara ihe na-anabata ihe e nyere nʼiwu, ma onye nzuzu ekwurekwu ga-ala nʼiyi.
The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
9 Onye ụzọ ya ziri ezi na-aga ije nʼatụghị egwu, ma onye ụzọ ya ezighị ezi ka a ga-achọpụta.
He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
10 Onye ọbụla na-egbu ikuanya na-ebute ihe mwute, onye nzuzu ekwurekwu ga-abịa nʼịla nʼiyi.
One who winks with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
11 Ọnụ onye ezi omume bụ isi iyi nke ndụ, ma naanị nkọcha jupụtara nʼọnụ onye ajọ omume.
The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 Ịkpọ asị na-akpali esemokwu, ma ịhụnanya na-ekpuchi mmehie niile.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
13 Ndị nwere nghọta na-ekwu okwu nwere isi, ma ndị na-enweghị uche ka a na-eti ihe dịka ohu.
Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
14 Onye amamihe na-akpakọba ihe ọmụma, ma onye nzuzu na-eji ọnụ ya akpọ ịla nʼiyi oku.
Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
15 Akụ ndị ọgaranya bụrụ ha obodo e wusiri ike, ma ụbịam bụ ịla nʼiyi nke ndị ogbenye.
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 Ụgwọ ọrụ onye ezi omume bụ ndụ, ma ihe nweta nke onye ajọ omume bụ mmehie na ọnwụ.
The labour of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
17 Onye na-ege ntị na ndụmọdụ na-egosi ụzọ nke ndụ, ma onye na-adịghị anabata ndụmọdụ na-eme ka ndị ọzọ kpafuo.
He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
18 Onye ji egbugbere ọnụ ụgha ekpuchi ịkpọ asị na onye na-agbasa okwu nkwutọ bụ onye nzuzu.
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
19 Nʼọtụtụ okwu mmehie adịghị akwụsị ma ndị nwere uche na-ejide ire ha.
In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
20 Ire nke onye ezi omume bụ ọlaọcha kachasị mma, ma obi onye ajọ omume bụ ihe ọnụahịa nta.
The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21 Egbugbere ọnụ onye ezi omume na-azụju ọtụtụ mmadụ afọ, ma ndị nzuzu na-anwụ nʼihi amamihe nke kọrọ ha.
The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
22 Ngọzị Onyenwe anyị na-eme mmadụ ọgaranya, ọ naghị atụkwasị ya nsogbu.
The LORD’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
23 Ihe na-atọ onye nzuzu ụtọ bụ izube nzube ọjọọ; ma ihe na-atọ onye maara ihe ụtọ bụ inwe nghọta.
It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
24 Ihe ahụ onye na-emebi iwu nʼatụ ụjọ ya ga-abịakwasị ya, ihe onye ezi omume na-achọ ka a ga-enye ya.
What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 Mgbe oke ifufe na-emebi ihe, ndị na-emebi iwu ka ọ na-eburu; ma ndị ezi omume na-eguzosi ike ruo ebighị ebi.
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27 Ịtụ egwu Onyenwe anyị na-enye ogologo ndụ, ma ọnụọgụgụ afọ nke onye ajọ omume na-adị mkpụmkpụ.
The fear of the LORD prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
29 Ụzọ Onyenwe anyị bụ ebe mgbaba nye ndị na-enweghị ịta ụta, maọbụ ịla nʼiyi nye ndị na-eme ajọ ihe.
The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
30 A pụghị iwezuga onye ezi omume, ma onye na-emebi iwu agaghị anọgide.
The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
31 Nʼọnụ onye ezi omume ka mkpụrụ amamihe si abịa, ma ire na-ekwu okwu nduhie ka a ga-eme ka o dere duu.
The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
32 Egbugbere ọnụ onye ezi omume mara ihe na-eweta ihuọma, ma ọnụ ndị ajọ omume bụ naanị okwu nduhie.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
