< Nehum 1 >
1 Amụma banyere obodo Ninive. Akwụkwọ ọhụ Nehum, onye obodo Elkosh.
The burden of Nineve: the book of the vision of Naum the Elkesite.
2 Onyenwe anyị bụ onye ekworo, bụrụkwa Chineke na-abọ ọbọ. Onyenwe anyị na-aga ịbọ ọbọ, ọnụma jukwara ya obi. Onyenwe anyị na-abọ ọbọ nʼahụ ndị iro ya, oke ọnụma ya na-adịgidekwa megide ndị iro ya.
God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; the Lord avenges with wrath; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he cuts off his enemies.
The Lord is longsuffering, and his power is great, and the Lord will not hold any guiltless: his way is in destruction and in the whirlwind, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 Ọ na-abasiri oke osimiri mba ike, mee ka ọ taa, o mekwaala ka osimiri niile takọrọ. Bashan na Kamel na-akpọnwụ, otu a kwa, nʼosisi ndụ jupụtara Lebanọn na-achanwụsị.
He threatens the sea, and dries it up, and exhausts all the rivers: the land of Basan, and Carmel are brought low, and the flourishing [trees] of Libanus have come to nothing.
5 Nʼihu ya, ugwu niile na-eme mkpọtụ, ugwu nta niile na-agbazekwa, elu ụwa niile na-amakwa jijiji nʼihu ya, ọ bụladị ụwa dum, na ndị niile bi nʼime ya.
The mountains quake at him, and the hills are shaken, and the earth recoils at his presence, [even] the world, and all that dwell in it.
6 Onye ga-eguzogide oke iwe ya? Ọ bụkwa onye ga-eguzosi ike nʼiwe ya dị ọkụ? A wụpụla ọnụma ya dịka ọkụ, e tipịasịala nkume niile ndị ahụ nʼihu ya.
Who shall stand before his anger? and who shall withstand in the anger of his wrath? his wrath brings to nothing kingdoms, and the rocks are burst asunder by him.
7 Onyenwe anyị dị mma. Ọ bụ ebe mgbaba nʼụbọchị nsogbu. Ọ na-elekọta ndị niile na-atụkwasị ya obi,
The Lord is good to them that wait on him in the day of affliction; and he knows them that reverence him.
8 ma ọ ga-eji idee mmiri dị ukwuu gbuo ndị iro ya niile, ọ ga-achụba ndị iro ya nʼọchịchịrị.
But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end: darkness shall pursue those that rise up against [him] and his enemies.
9 Kedụ izu ọjọọ unu na-agba megide Onyenwe anyị ọ ga-eweta ihe niile nʼisi njedebe; nsogbu agaghị abịakwa nke ugboro abụọ.
What do you devise against the Lord? he will make a complete end: he will not take vengeance by affliction twice at the same time.
10 Ha ga-abụ ndị a tụhịkọtara nʼetiti ogwu, ndị mmanya ha ṅụbigara oke na-egbu, ha ga-ala nʼiyi dịka ahịhịa kpọrọ nkụ.
For [the enemy] shall be laid bare even to the foundation, and shall be devoured as twisted yew, and as stubble fully dry.
11 Ọ bụ nʼime gị, Ninive, ka otu onye si pụta, bụ onye ahụ gbara izu ọjọọ megide Onyenwe anyị, na-echepụtakwa ajọ atụmatụ.
Out of you shall proceed a device against the Lord, counselling evil things hostile [to him].
12 Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “Ọ bụ ezie na ha siri ike, ma bakwaa ụba nʼọnụọgụgụ, ha ga-abụ ndị a ga-egbutu na ndị ga-agabiga. Ọ bụ ezie na m ataala gị bụ Juda ahụhụ, ma agaghị m atakwa gị ahụhụ ọzọ.
Thus says the Lord who rules over many waters, Even thus shall they be sent away, and the report of you shall not be heard any more.
13 Ugbu a, aga m agbajipụ agbụ yoku ọ nyanyere unu nʼolu, tibikwaa ụdọ igwe e jiri kegide unu.”
And now will I break his rod from off you, and will burst [your] bonds.
14 Onyenwe anyị enyela iwu ya banyere gị, Ninive: “Ị gaghị enwekwa ụmụ ụmụ ndị ga-aza aha gị. Aga m ala arụsị unu niile a pịrị apị na ndị a kpụrụ akpụ nʼiyi, bụ arụsị ndị ahụ dị nʼụlọnsọ nke chi unu niile. Aga m akwadokwa ili gị, nʼihi na ị bụrụla onye jọgburu onwe ya na njọ.”
And the Lord shall give a command concerning you; there shall no more of your name be scattered: I will utterly destroy the graven [images] out of the house of your god, and the molten [images]: I will make your grave; for [they are] swift.
15 Lee, nʼelu ugwu niile ka ụkwụ onye ahụ na-eweta oziọma dị, bụ onye ahụ na-ekwusa na udo ga-adị! Mee mmemme gị niile gị Juda, mezukwaa nkwa niile i kwere. Nʼihi na ndị ajọ omume agakwaghị ebuso gị agha, nʼihi na a ga-ala ha nʼiyi kpamkpam.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that brings glad tidings, and publishes peace! O Juda, keep your feasts, pay your vows: for they shall no more pass through you to [your] decay.
