The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Ebraham mụrụ Aịzik, Aịzik amụọ Jekọb, Jekọb amụọ Juda na ụmụnne ya.
Abraham was the father of Isaac; and Isaac was the father of Jacob; and Jacob was the father of Judas and his brothers;
3 Juda mụtara Perez na Zera site na Tama, Perez mụrụ Hezrọn, Hezrọn amụọ Aram.
And Judas was the father of Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares was the father of Esrom; and Esrom was the father of Aram;
4 Aram mụrụ Aminadab, Aminadab mụrụ Nashọn, Nashọn amụọ Salmọn.
And Aram was the father of Aminadab; and Aminadab was the father of Naasson; and Naasson was the father of Salmon;
5 Salmọn bụ nna Boaz, site na nwunye ya Rehab, Boaz mụrụ Obed, site na nwunye ya Rut, Obed amụọ Jesi.
And Salmon was the father of Booz of Rachab; and Booz was the father of Obed of Ruth; and Obed was the father of Jesse;
6 Jesi amụọ Devid, bụ eze. Devid mụrụ Solomọn site na nwunye ya Ụraya.
And Jesse was the father of David the king; and David the king was the father of Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Solomọn mụrụ Rehoboam, Rehoboam amụọ Abija, Abija amụọ Esa.
And Solomon was the father of Roboam; and Roboam was the father of Abia; and Abia was the father of Asa;
8 Esa mụrụ Jehoshafat, Jehoshafat amụọ Joram, Joram amụọ Ụzaịa.
And Asa was the father of Josaphat; and Josaphat was the father of Joram; and Joram was the father of Ozias;
9 Ụzaịa mụrụ Jotam, Jọtam amụọ Ehaz, Ehaz amụọ Hezekaya.
And Ozias was the father of Joatham; and Joatham was the father of Achaz; and Achaz was the father of Ezekias;
10 Hezekaya mụrụ Manase, Manase amụọ Emọn, Emọn amụọ Josaya.
And Ezekias was the father of Manasses; and Manasses was the father of Amon; and Amon was the father of Josias;
11 Mgbe e mere ka ha gaa biri nʼala Babilọn ka Josaya mụrụ Jekonaya na ụmụnne ya.
And Josias was the father of Jechonias and his brothers, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Mgbe ha si Babilọn lọta Jekonaya mụrụ Shealtiel, Shealtiel amụọ Zerubabel.
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias was the father of Salathiel; and Salathiel was the father of Zorobabel;
13 Zerubabel mụrụ Abiud, Abiud amụọ Eliakịm, Eliakịm amụọ Azoa.
And Zorobabel was the father of Abiud; and Abiud was the father of Eliakim; and Eliakim was the father of Azor;
14 Azoa mụrụ Zadọk, Zadọk amụọ Akịm, Akịm amụọ Eliud.
And Azor was the father of Sadoc; and Sadoc was the father of Achim; and Achim was the father of Eliud;
15 Eliud mụrụ Elieza, Elieza amụọ Matan, Matan amụọ Jekọb.
And Eliud was the father of Eleazar; and Eleazar was the father of Matthan; and Matthan was the father of Jacob;
16 Jekọb mụrụ Josef onye bụ di Meri nne Jisọs, onye a na-akpọ Kraịst.
And Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Ya mere, site nʼEbraham ruo na Devid, e nwere ọgbọ iri na anọ. Ma site nʼoge Devid ruo mgbe a dọọrọ ha nʼagha gaa Babilọn, e nwere ọgbọ iri na anọ. Sitekwanụ nʼoge ahụ ruo mgbe a mụrụ Kraịst bụkwa ọgbọ iri na anọ.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Otu a ka ọmụmụ Jisọs, onye a na-akpọ Kraịst siri dị: Nne ya Meri bụ onye e kwenyere na ọ ga-alụ Josef, ma tupu ha ebikọọ ọnụ a chọpụtara na Meri di ime site na Mmụọ Nsọ.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Ma Josef di ya bụ onye ezi omume, ọ chọghị imenye ya ihere, nʼihi ya, o zubere ịchụ ya na nzuzo.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
20 Mgbe Josef nwechara mkpebi a, mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị bịakwutere ya na nrọ sị ya, “Josef nwa Devid, atụla egwu ịkpọrọ Meri ka ọ bụrụ nwunye gị, nʼihi na nwa ahụ ọ dị ime ya sitere nʼike Mmụọ Nsọ.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Ọ ga-amụkwa nwa nwoke, onye ị ga-akpọ aha ya Jisọs, nʼihi na ọ ga-azọpụta ndị nke ya site na mmehie ha.”
And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Ihe ndị a mere iji mezuo ihe ahụ Onyenwe anyị kwuru site nʼọnụ onye amụma ya sị,
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 “Lee, nwaagbọghọ ahụ na-amaghị nwoke ga-atụrụ ime, mụọ nwa nwoke. Ha ga-akpọ aha ya Ịmanụel” (nke bụ ma asụgharịa ya, “Chineke nọnyeere anyị”).
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Mgbe Josef si nʼụra teta, o mere dịka mmụọ ozi Onyenwe anyị nyere ya nʼiwu. Ọ kpọọrọ Meri ka ọ bụrụ nwunye ya.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took to him his wife:
25 Ma ha abụọ edinakọghị tutu ruo mgbe ọ mụsịrị nwa nwoke, onye ọ kpọrọ aha ya Jisọs.
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
