< Matiu 5 >

1 Mgbe Jisọs hụrụ igwe mmadụ ahụ, ọ rigooro nʼelu ugwu. Mgbe ọ nọdụrụ ala, ndị na-eso ụzọ ya bịakwutere ya,
When Jesus saw the crowds following him he went up a mountain. There he sat down together with his disciples.
2 o bido ikuziri ha ihe. Ọ sịrị:
He began teaching them, saying:
3 “Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị bụ ogbenye nʼime mmụọ, nʼihi na alaeze eluigwe bụ nke ha.
“Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually poor, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
4 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị na-eru ụjụ, nʼihi na a ga-akasị ha obi.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị dị nwayọọ nʼobi, nʼihi na ha ga-eketa ụwa.
Blessed are those who are kind for they will own the whole world.
6 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị agụụ ezi omume na-agụ, nʼihi na ndị ahụ ka afọ ga-eju.
Blessed are those whose greatest desire is to do what is right, for they will be satisfied.
7 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị na-eme obi ebere, nʼihi na ha ka a ga-emere ebere.
Blessed are those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị dị ọcha nʼobi, nʼihi na ha ga-ahụ Chineke anya.
Blessed are those who have pure minds, for they will see God.
9 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị na-eme ka udo dị nʼetiti mmadụ na ibe ya, nʼihi na a ga-akpọ ha ụmụ Chineke.
Blessed are those who work to bring peace, for they will be called children of God.
10 Ngọzị na-adịrị ndị a na-emegbu nʼihi ezi omume, nʼihi na alaeze eluigwe bụ nke ha.
Blessed are those persecuted for what is right, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
11 “Ngọzị na-adịrị unu mgbe ndị mmadụ na-akọcha unu, na-emegbu unu, ma na-ekwukwa okwu ọjọọ na ụgha niile dị iche iche megide unu nʼihi m.
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and accuse you of all kinds of evil things because of me.
12 Ṅụrịanụ ọnụ, nwekwanụ obi ụtọ, nʼihi na ụgwọ ọrụ unu dị ukwuu nʼeluigwe. Nʼihi na nʼụzọ dị otu a ka ha sogburu ndị amụma ndị buru unu ụzọ.
Be glad, be really glad, for you will receive a great reward in heaven—for they persecuted the prophets who came before you in just the same way.
13 “Unu bụ nnu nke ụwa, ma ọ bụrụ na nnu adịghị atọkwa ụtọ, a ga-eji gịnị mee ka ọ tọọ ụtọ ọzọ? Ọ bakwaghị uru ọbụla, ma ọ bụghị naanị itufu ya, ka ndị mmadụ zọọ ya ụkwụ.
You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt becomes tasteless, how can you make it salty again? It's good for nothing, so it's thrown out and trodden down.
14 “Unu bụ ihe nke ụwa. Unu dị ka obodo e wuru nʼelu ugwu nke a na-apụghị izo ezo.
You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill can't be hidden.
15 Ndị mmadụ adịghị amụnye oriọna dọnye ya nʼokpuru igbe, kama a na-adọkwasị ya nʼelu ihe ịdọba oriọna, ka o nye ndị niile nọ nʼụlọ ahụ ìhè.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a bucket. No, it's placed on a lamp-stand and it provides light to everyone in the house.
16 Ya mere, kwerenụ ka ìhè unu nwuo nye mmadụ niile, ka ndị mmadụ hụ ọrụ ọma unu, tookwa Nna unu nke bi nʼeluigwe.
In the same way you should let your light shine before everyone so they can see the good things you do and praise your heavenly Father.
17 “Unu echela na m bịara ịkagbu iwu Mosis, maọbụ ozizi ndị amụma. Abịaghị m ịkagbu akagbu, kama abịara m imezu ha.
Don't think I came to abolish the law or the writings of the prophets. I didn't come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
18 Nʼezie, agwa m unu, na tutu eluigwe na ụwa agabiga, ọ dịghị otu mkpụrụ edemede ọbụla dị nta, ọ bụladị nke dịkarịsịrị nta, nke a ga-esi nʼIwu a wepụ ruo mgbe ha niile ga emezu.
I assure you, until heaven and earth come to an end, not a single letter, not a single dot of the law will come to an end before everything is fulfilled.
19 Nʼihi ya, onye ọbụla nke ga-emebi otu nʼime iwu ndị a, ọ bụladị nke dịkarịsịrị nta, ma kuziekwara ndị ọzọ ime otu ahụ, a ga-agụ onye ahụ nʼonye dịkarịsịrị nta nʼalaeze eluigwe. Ma onye na-ezi ụmụ mmadụ ka ha debe iwu ahụ, ma na-emekwa okwu ndị ahụ nʼonwe ya, a ga-akpọ ya onye dị ukwuu nʼalaeze eluigwe.
So whoever disregards the least important commandment, and teaches people to do so, will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches the commandments will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Ka m dọọ unu aka na ntị. Ọ bụrụ na ezi omume unu akarịghị ezi omume ndị Farisii na ndị ozizi iwu, unu apụghị ịba nʼalaeze eluigwe ma ọlị.
I tell you, unless your moral rightness is more than that of the religious teachers and the Pharisees, you can never enter the kingdom of heaven.
21 “Unu nụrụ na-agwara ndị mmadụ nʼoge gara aga, sị, ‘Onye egbula mmadụ, onye ọbụla gburu mmadụ a ga-ekpe ya ikpe.’
You've heard that the law said to the people of long ago: ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who commits murder will be condemned as guilty.’
(Geenna g1067)
But I tell you, anyone who is angry with his brother will be condemned as guilty. Whoever calls his brother an idiot has to answer to the council, but whoever verbally abuses others is liable to the fire of judgment. (Geenna g1067)
23 “Ya mere, ọ bụrụ na ị gaa inye onyinye gị nʼebe ịchụ aja, ma cheta nʼebe ahụ na gị na nwanne gị adịghị nʼudo,
If you're at the altar making an offering, and remember that your brother has something against you,
24 hapụ onyinye gị nʼebe ịchụ aja, laa ka gị na nwanne gị kpezie. Mgbe unu mere udo, laghachi bịa nye onyinye gị.
leave your offering on the altar and go and make peace with him first, and afterwards come back and make your offering.
25 “Mee ọsịịsọ ka gị na onye kpọ gị eje ụlọ ikpe kpezie, mgbe ọ na-eburubeghị ikpe gị na ya jee nʼaka ọkaikpe, onye ga-enyefe gị nʼaka ndị nche, ma eleghị anya etinye gị nʼụlọ mkpọrọ.
While you're on the way to court with your opponent, make sure you settle things quickly. Otherwise your opponent might hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the court official, and you will be thrown into jail.
26 Nʼezie, agwa m gị, ị gaghị e si nʼebe ahụ pụta ruo mgbe ị kwụghachiri kobo niile i ji.
I tell you the truth: you won't get out of there until you've paid every last penny.
27 “Unu nụrụ na e kwuru sị, ‘Akwala iko.’
You've heard that the law said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’
28 Ma asị m unu, onye ọbụla lere nwanyị anya site na-agụụ ịkwa iko emeelarị mmehie ịkwa iko nʼime obi ya megide nwanyị ahụ.
But I tell you that everyone who looks lustfully at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his mind.
29 Nʼihi nke a, ọ bụrụ na anya aka nri gị na-eme ka i jehie, ghụpụ ya tufuo. Ọ kaara gị mma na i tufuru otu akụkụ ahụ gị baa nʼalaeze karịa na i ji ahụ zuruoke baa nʼọkụ ala mmụọ. (Geenna g1067)
If your right eye leads you to sin, then tear it out and throw it away, because it's better to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into the fire of judgment. (Geenna g1067)
30 Ọ bụrụ na aka nri gị na-eme ka i jehie, gbupụ ya tufuo. Ọ kaara gị mma na i tufuru otu akụkụ ahụ gị ma baa nʼalaeze eluigwe, karịa na i ji ahụ zuruoke ma baa nʼọkụ ala mmụọ. (Geenna g1067)
If your right hand leads you to sin, then cut it off and throw it away, for it's better for you to lose one of your limbs than for your whole body to go into the fire of judgment. (Geenna g1067)
31 “E kwukwara sị, ‘Onye ọbụla chọrọ ịgbara nwunye ya alụkwaghị m, ga-ebu ụzọ dee akwụkwọ alụkwaghị m nye nwunye ya.’
The law also said, ‘If a man divorces his wife, he should give her a certificate of divorce.’
32 Ma asị m unu, onye ọbụla gbara nwunye ya alụkwaghị m, ma ọ bụghị nʼihi ịkwa iko, ọ na-etinye nwanyị ahụ nʼọnọdụ ga-eme ka ọ kwaa iko. Ọ bụrụ na nwanyị ahụ alụọ di ọzọ, nwoke ahụ lụrụ nwanyị ahụ na-emekwa mmehie ịkwa iko.
But I tell you that any man who divorces his wife except for sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
33 “Ọzọkwa, unu nụrụ na a gwara ndị mmadụ nʼoge gara aga sị, ‘Aṅụla iyi ụgha, kama mezuo ihe niile unu ṅụrụ nʼiyi nye Onyenwe anyị.’
And again, you've heard that the law said to the people of long ago, ‘You shall not perjure yourself. Instead make sure you keep the oaths you swear to the Lord.’
34 Ma asị m unu aṅụla iyi ọbụla. Ejikwala eluigwe aṅụ iyi nʼihi na eluigwe bụ ebe ocheeze Chineke dị.
But I tell you, don't swear at all. Don't swear by heaven, because it's the throne of God.
35 Ejikwala ụwa aṅụ iyi nʼihi na ụwa bụ ebe mgbakwasị ụkwụ ya. Ejikwala Jerusalem aṅụ iyi nʼihi na ọ bụ obodo Eze ukwu ahụ.
Don't swear by the earth, because it's God's footstool. Don't swear by Jerusalem, because it's the city of the great King.
36 Ejikwala isi gị aṅụ iyi nʼihi na ị pụghị ime ka otu agịrị isi gị dị ọcha maọbụ dị oji.
Don't even swear by your head, because you're not able to make a single hair white or black.
37 Aṅụla iyi ọbụla. Kama ka okwu unu bụrụ ‘E’ maọbụ ‘Ee’; ihe ọbụla gafere nke a sitere nʼaka ajọ onye ahụ.
Simply say yes or no—more than this comes from the evil one.
38 “Unu anụla na e kwuru sị, ‘Ọ bụ anya ka a kụkpọrọ, anya nʼọnọdụ anya. Ọ bụrụkwa otu eze ka e tipụrụ, eze nʼọnọdụ eze.’
You've heard that the law said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
39 Ma ana m asị unu eguzogidela onye bụ ajọ onye. Kama ọ bụrụ na mmadụ amaa gị ụra na ntị aka nri, tụgharịara ya ntị nke ọzọ.
But I tell you, don't resist someone who is evil. If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other cheek to them as well.
40 Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ agbaa gị akwụkwọ nʼụlọikpe, ka ọ nara gị uwe ime gị, nyekwa ya uwe nke elu gị.
If someone wants to sue you in court and takes your shirt, give them your coat too.
41 Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ esite nʼike chọọ ka i soro ya gaa puku nzọ ụkwụ atọ, soro ya gaa puku nzọ ụkwụ isii.
If someone demands that you go one mile, go with them two.
42 Nye onye ọbụla rịọrọ gị ihe. Achụghachikwala ndị na-abịa ka i binye ha ego.
Give to those who ask you, and don't turn away those who want to borrow from you.
43 “Unu nụrụ na e kwuru sị, ‘Hụnụ ndị agbataobi unu nʼanya, ma kpọkwanụ ndị iro unu asị.’
You've heard that the law said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44 Ma asị m unu, hụnụ ndị iro unu nʼanya, kpekwaaranụ ndị na-esogbu unu ekpere.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 Nke a ga-eme ka unu bụrụ ụmụ nke Nna unu bi nʼeluigwe, onye na-eme ka anwụ mụọrọ ndị ọma na ndị ọjọọ, na-emekwa ka mmiri zooro ndị ezi omume na ndị ajọ omume.
so you may become children of your heavenly Father. For his sun shines on both the good and the bad; and he makes the rain fall on both those who do right and those who do wrong.
46 Ọ bụrụ naanị ndị hụrụ unu nʼanya ka unu na-ahụ nʼanya, gịnị ga-abụ ụgwọ ọrụ unu? Ọ bụladị ndị ọna ụtụ na-emekwa otu a.
For if you only love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don't even the tax-collectors do that?
47 Ọ bụrụkwa na unu na-ekele naanị ndị enyi unu ekele, ọ dịghị ihe ọbụla dị iche nʼebe unu na ndị ọzọ nọ. Nʼihi na ndị na-amaghị Chineke na-emekwa otu ahụ.
If you only speak kindly to your family, what more are you doing than anyone else? Even the heathen do that!
48 Ya mere, unu kwesiri izuoke nʼịrụ ọrụ ọma, dịka Nna unu bi nʼeluigwe si zukwaa oke.
Grow up and become completely trustworthy, just as your heavenly Father is trustworthy.
