< Matiu 26 >

Now it happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, that He said to His disciples,
2 “Dị ka unu maara nke ọma, Mmemme Ngabiga ga-amalite mgbe ụbọchị abụọ gasịrị. Nʼoge ahụ, a ga-ararakwa Nwa nke Mmadụ nye ka a kpọgide ya nʼobe.”
“You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of the Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Nʼoge ahụ, ndịisi nchụaja, na ndị okenye zukọtara nʼụlọeze otu onyeisi nchụaja a na-akpọ Kaịfas.
Then the chief priests, the scribes and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, the one called Caiaphas,
and they plotted to seize Jesus by trickery and kill Him.
5 Ha kwekọrịta sị, “Ọ gaghị abụ nʼoge mmemme ka ọgbaaghara hapụ ịdị nʼetiti ndị mmadụ.”
But they said, “Not during the feast, in order not to have an uproar among the people.”
6 Mgbe Jisọs nọ na Betani, nʼụlọ Saimọn onye ekpenta,
Now when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,
7 otu nwanyị bu karama alabasta nke mmanụ otite isi ụtọ dị oke ọnụahịa dị nʼime ya, bịakwutere ya, nke ọ wụsara ya nʼisi dị ka ọ na-anọdụ ala nʼeri nri.
a woman approached Him, having an alabaster flask of very expensive perfume, and she began to pour it on His head as He reclined at the table.
But upon seeing it His disciples were indignant saying: “Why this waste?
9 A gaara erepụta mmanụ a ego dị ukwuu were ego e retara ya nyere ndị ogbenye aka.”
For this perfume could have been sold for a good deal and given to the poor.”
10 Ebe Jisọs matara ihe ha na-atamu nʼobi ha, ọ sịrị ha, “Gịnị mere unu ji esogbu nwanyị a? O merela m ihe dị mma.
But being aware Jesus said to them: “Why are you bothering the woman? She has done something beautiful to me.
You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 Nʼihi na site nʼịwụ m mmanụ otite a nʼahụ, o doziela m maka olili.
In putting this perfume on my body she did it with a view to my burial.
13 Nʼezie, ana m agwa unu, nʼebe ọbụla ezisara oziọma a nʼụwa niile, a ga na-echeta nwanyị a nʼihi ihe ọma a o meere m.”
Assuredly I say to you, wherever this gospel may be proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be told in her memory.”
14 Mgbe ahụ otu nʼime mmadụ iri na abụọ na-eso ụzọ ya, onye aha ya bụ Judas Iskarịọt, jekwuuru ndịisi nchụaja.
Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 Ọ jụrụ ha sị, “Gịnị ka unu ga-enye m ma m rara ya nye nʼaka unu?” Ha kwụrụ ya iri mkpụrụ ọlaọcha atọ.
and said, “What are you willing to give me so that I deliver Him to you?” So they counted out to him thirty silver coins.
16 Site nʼoge ahụ na-aga, ọ chọrọ ohere ịrara ya nye nʼaka ha.
From then on he kept looking for an opportunity to betray Him.
17 Nʼụbọchị mbụ nke mmemme achịcha na-ekoghị eko, ndị na-eso ụzọ Jisọs bịakwutere ya jụọ ya sị, “Ebee ka ị chọrọ ka anyị gaa kwadoro gị ihe gị maka oriri Ngabiga?”
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus saying to Him, “Where do you want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 Ọ zara ha sị, “Jekwurunụ otu nwoke nʼime obodo sị ya, Onye ozizi sị, ‘Oge m abịala nso. Mụ na ndị na-eso ụzọ m ga-eri oriri Ngabiga nʼụlọ gị.’”
So He said: “Go into the city to ‘you know who’ and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near, I will do the Passover with my disciples at your place.”’”
And the disciples did as Jesus directed them and prepared the Passover.
When it was evening He was reclining at the table with the twelve.
21 Mgbe ha na-eri nri, o kwuru sị, “Nʼezie ana m agwa unu, na otu onye nʼime unu ga-arara m nye.”
And as they were eating He said, “Assuredly I say to you that one of you will betray me.”
22 Ha nwere oke mwute, ma malite ịjụ ya nʼotu nʼotu sị, “Onyenwe anyị, ọ bụ m?”
This really upset them and they each began to say to Him, “It isn't me, is it, Lord?”
23 Ma ọ zara ha sị, “Ọ bụ onye ahụ mụ na ya na-amanyekọta aka nʼotu efere ga-arara m nye.
In answer He said: “It is the one who dipped his hand in the bowl with me, he will betray me.
24 Lee Nwa nke Mmadụ ga-ala dị ka e si buo ya nʼamụma. Ma ahụhụ ga-adịrị nwoke ahụ onye a ga-esite nʼaka ya rara Nwa nke Mmadụ nye. Ọ gaara akara onye ahụ mma ma a sị na a mụghị ya amụ.”
The Son of the Man is really going just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of the Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man not to have been born.”
25 Judas, onye ahụ raara ya nye jụrụ ya sị, “Onye ozizi ọ bụ m?” Ọ zara sị, “Gị onwe gị ekwuola ya.”
Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “It isn't me, is it, Rabbi?” He says to him, “You said it!”
Now as they were eating, after taking the bread and blessing it, Jesus broke it, gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
And taking the cup and giving thanks He gave it to them saying: “Drink of it, all of you;
28 Nʼihi na nke a bụ ọbara m nke bụ akara ọgbụgba ndụ ọhụrụ ahụ. A na-awụsa ya maka ọtụtụ mgbaghara mmehie.
for this is my blood, that of the new covenant, that which is being shed on behalf of many for forgiveness of sins.
29 Ana m agwa unu, na-agaghị m aṅụ mmanya sitere na mkpụrụ vaịnị ọzọ, tutu ruo ụbọchị ahụ mụ na unu ga-aṅụ ya nʼụzọ dị iche nʼalaeze Nna m.”
Furthermore, I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”
30 Mgbe ha bụsịrị abụ, ha pụrụ gaa nʼUgwu Oliv.
And after hymn-singing they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Mgbe ahụ Jisọs gwara ha sị, “Nʼabalị taa, unu niile ga-agbahapụ naanị m. Nʼihi na e dere ya, sị: “‘Aga m etigbu onye ọzụzụ atụrụ, atụrụ nke igwe atụrụ ahụ ga-agbasasịkwa.’
Then Jesus says to them: “All of you will be caused to stumble because of me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 Ma mgbe e mere ka m si nʼọnwụ bilite, aga m ebu unu ụzọ gaa Galili.”
But after I am raised I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Pita sịrị, “Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ niile agbahapụ gị gbalaga, agaghị m ahapụ gị.”
Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if everyone else is caused to stumble because of you, I will never be caused to stumble.”
34 Jisọs sịrị, “Nʼezie agwa m gị, nʼabalị taa, tupu oke ọkụkụ akwaa akwa, ị ga-agọnarị m ugboro atọ.”
Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I say to you that this night, before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
Peter says to Him, “Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the other disciples said the same.
36 Mgbe Jisọs bịara nʼogige ahụ a na-akpọ Getsameni, ọ gwara ndị na-eso ụzọ ya sị ha, “Nọdụnụ nʼebe a ka m gaa nʼihu nke nta kpee ekpere.”
Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He says to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
And taking Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along He began to be troubled and distressed.
38 Mgbe ahụ ọ gwara ha sị, “Ọ na-ewute mkpụrụobi m nke ukwuu ruo nʼọnụ ọnwụ. Nọgidenụ nʼebe a soro m na-eche nche.”
Then Jesus says to them: “My soul is in anguish, to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me.”
39 Ọ gara nʼihu nke nta daa, kpuo ihu ya nʼala, kpee ekpere sị, “Nna m, ọ bụrụ na ọ ga-ekwe mee, napụ m iko a. Ma ọ bụghị ka e mee uche m, kama ka e mee uche gị.”
And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by; nevertheless not as I wish, but as you do.”
Ọ sịrị Pita, “Ọ bụ na unu enweghị ike i soro m chee nche, ọ bụladị otu awa?
Then He comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and He says to Peter: “So, you (pl.) were not able to watch with me one hour!
Watch and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit on its part is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Ọ laghachiri azụ nke ugboro abụọ kpeekwa ekpere sị, “Nna m, ọ bụrụ na iko a agaghị agabiga ma ọ bụghị na m ṅụrụ ya, ka e mee uche gị.”
And going away a second time He prayed saying, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, let your will be done.”
43 Ọ lọghachikwara ọzọ hụkwa ka ha na-arahụ ụra, nʼihi na anya ha dị arọ.
And coming He finds them sleeping again, because their eyes had been weighed down.
44 Ọ hapụrụ ha ọzọ gaa kpee ekpere nke ugboro atọ, na-ekwukwa otu okwu ahụ.
So leaving them He went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.
Lee, oge awa ahụ abịala, a rarala Nwa nke Mmadụ nye nʼaka ndị mmehie.
Then He comes to His disciples and says to them: “Sleep some more and take your rest! Actually, the hour is here and the Son of the Man is being betrayed into sinners' hands.
46 Bilienụ ka anyị gawa. Lee, onye ahụ na-arara m nye na-abịa!”
Get up, let's go; see, the one who is betraying me has come!”
47 Mgbe ọ nọ na-ekwu okwu a, Judas, otu nʼime ndị ozi iri na abụọ ahụ bịaruru, ya na ọtụtụ igwe mmadụ so. Ụfọdụ ji mma agha ha, ndị ọzọ ji osisi. Ọ bụ ndịisi nchụaja na ndị okenye ndị Juu zitere ha.
And while He was still speaking, there was Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Ma onye ahụ na-arara ya nye, nyere ha ihe ịrịbama, sị, “Onye ahụ m ga-esutu ọnụ bụ nwoke ahụ, jidesienụ ya aka ike!”
(Now His betrayer had given them a sign saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He; take Him!”)
49 Ngwangwa o jekwuuru Jisọs sị ya, “Ekele, Onye ozizi!” ma sutukwa ya ọnụ.
And he went right up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
50 Jisọs gwara ya sị, “Enyi m, mee ihe ị bịara ime ngwangwa.” Mgbe ahụ, ndị ikom ahụ bịara nso jide Jisọs, sekpụrụ ya nʼike.
So Jesus said to him, “Friend, what brings you here?” Then approaching they laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
And then, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest he cut off his ear!
But Jesus says to him: “Put your sword back into its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword.
53 I cheghị na m pụrụ ịrịọ Nna m ka o zitere m ihe karịrị usuu ndị mmụọ ozi iri na abụọ nʼotu ntabi anya?
Do you actually suppose that I cannot call upon my Father right now and He will place beside me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Ma olee otu ihe e dere nʼakwụkwọ nsọ ga-esi mezuo, nke kwuru na ọ ghaghị ịdị otu a?”
But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it has to happen this way?”
55 Nʼoge awa ahụ, Jisọs gwara igwe mmadụ ahụ sị, “Unu pụtara chịrị mma agha na mkpọ bịa ijide m dị ka a ga-asị na m bụ onye ohi? Anọrọla m ziekwa ihe nʼụlọnsọ kwa ụbọchị, ma unu ejideghị m.
At that time Jesus said to the crowd: “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as against a bandit, to arrest me? I used to sit daily with you in the temple, teaching, and you did not seize me.
56 Ma ihe ndị a na-eme ka ihe ndị amụma dere nʼakwụkwọ nsọ mezuo.”
But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets should be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and ran away.
57 Ndị jidere Jisọs duuru ya gaa nʼụlọ Kaịfas, onyeisi nchụaja. Ndị ozizi iwu na ndị okenye ndị Juu zukọtara nʼebe ahụ.
So those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Pita sogidere Jisọs nʼazụ site nʼebe dị anya. O rutere nʼobi onyeisi nchụaja, baa nʼime ụlọ, sorokwa ndị na-eje ozi nọdụ ala, ka o nwe ike ịhụ otu ihe a ga-esi bie.
Now Peter was following Him at a distance, up to the high priest's courtyard. And going inside he sat down with the attendants, to see the end.
59 Ndịisi nchụaja, na ndịisi ikpe nʼụlọikpe ahụ nọ na-achọ ama ụgha megide Jisọs, ka ha hụ ụzọ ha ga-esi gbuo ya.
The chief priests and the elders, in fact the whole Council, kept looking for false witnesses against Jesus so that they could put Him to death,
60 Ma ọ dịghị nke ha chọtara, nʼagbanyeghị nʼọtụtụ ndị akaebe ụgha pụtara. Nʼikpeazụ, mmadụ abụọ pụtara
but did not find any. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any. But at last two false witnesses came forward
61 kwuo sị, “Nwoke a sịrị, ‘Enwere m ike ịkwatu ụlọnsọ ukwu nke Chineke, wughachikwa ya nʼụbọchị atọ.’”
and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’”
62 Onyeisi nchụaja biliri ọtọ kwuo sị, “Ọ bụ na ị nweghị ihe ọbụla ị ga-aza? Gịnị bụ ama ndị a a na-agba megide gị?”
And standing up the high priest said to Him: “Do you answer nothing? What is it that these men are testifying against you?”
63 Ma Jisọs ekwughị ihe ọbụla. Onyeisi nchụaja gwara ya sị, Eji m aha Chineke dị ndụ nye gị iwu, sị gị, “gwa anyị, ị bụ Kraịst, Ọkpara Chineke?”
But Jesus kept silent. So reacting the high priest said to Him, “I put you under oath by the Living God so that you tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God!”
64 Jisọs gwara ya sị, “Gị onwe gị kwuru ya. Ma ana m agwa unu, site ugbu a na-aga nʼihu, unu ga-ahụ Nwa nke Mmadụ ka ọ na-anọdụ nʼaka nri nke Onye dị ike, na-abịakwa nʼigwe ojii nke eluigwe.”
Jesus says to him: “You said it. Furthermore, I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of the Man sitting at the Power's right, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Mgbe ahụ onyeisi nchụaja dọwara uwe ya, kwuo sị, “O kwuola arụ! Olee mkpa ọ dị ịchọkwa ndị akaebe? Unu nụkwara nkwulu ya?
Then the high priest tore his clothes saying: “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy!
66 Gịnị bụ mkpebi unu?” Ha zara sị ya, “O kwesiri ka ọ nwụọ!”
What do you think?” So in answer they said, “He deserves death!”
Then they spat in His face and punched Him, while others slapped Him
68 sị ya, “Buoro anyị amụma, gị, Kraịst. Onye tiri gị ihe?”
saying, “Messiah, prophesy to us! Who is the one who hit you?”
69 Mgbe ahụ Pita nọdụrụ ala na mbara ezi nke obi ahụ. Otu nʼime ụmụ agbọghọ na-eje ozi bịakwutere ya, sị, “Ị bụkwanụ otu nʼime ndị na-eso ụzọ Jisọs onye Galili.”
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a certain servant girl approached him saying, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 Ma ọ gọrọ nʼihu ha niile sị, “Amaghị m ihe ị na-ekwu.”
But he denied before them all saying, “I don't know what you are saying.”
71 Mgbe ọ pụrụ gaa nọdụ nʼọnụ ụzọ mbata, nwaagbọghọ ọzọ hụrụ ya, gwa ndị nọ nʼebe ahụ sị, “Nwoke a na Jisọs onye Nazaret nọkọrọ.”
And having gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and says to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus the Natsorean.”
72 Ọzọkwa, o weere ịṅụ iyi gọọ, “Amaghị m onye nwoke ahụ bụ.”
And he denied again, with an oath, “I do not know the man!”
73 Mgbe oge nta gasịrị, ndị guzo nʼebe ahụ bịakwutere Pita sị ya, “Nʼezie, ịbụ otu nʼime ha, nʼihi na asụsụ gị agbaala gị ama.”
But a little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Really, you too are one of them, because your very accent gives you away!”
74 Ọ malitere ịbụ onwe ya ọnụ, na ịṅụ iyi sị, “Amaghị m nwoke a.” Mgbe ahụkwa oke ọkpa kwara akwa.
Then he began to curse and to swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.
75 Pita chetara okwu ahụ Jisọs kwuru sị, “Tupu oke ọkpa akwaa akwa, ị ga-agọnarị m ugbo atọ.” O si nʼebe ahụ pụọ, gaa kwaa akwa nke ukwuu.
And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before any rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And going out he cried bitterly.
